Does Lewis get to have a gun in this story? Because a) that mission should warrant being armed and b) I think Lewis skilled with weaponary would be 🔥. (So would it turn Max on? Yes 😌😌)

Of course! Lewis isn't going anywhere without his trusted weapon (he named it Coco after he once saved his beloved old lady with that gun) and he'd even use it on Max sometimes because he noticed Max always looking at it!

And pleeease, the way Max would fold just to have Lewis show off his skills with the weapons he (not so legally) hid from the police

hmmmmm thinking about how this could mean that lewis could easily hold his own against not only a vicious criminal (they are going to be meeting some of those aren't they?) because he's been trained to as a kid but also against the officials when they turn on him or/and max. 👀 this is getting d a r k but i'm into it..cuz i feel like max would have to prove that he's changed for the better and isn't really what people assume he is in order to make lewis want to stay but also lewis would have to be a lot darker in order to even consider staying, if that makes sense, just not ready to admit to it. 👀👀 what is max' past like, though, and would he know that about lewis or only discover later?

You see, it's getting complicated because Max isn't changed at all! He doesn't regret what he has done nor does he want to change. A contract is all that prevents him from murdering people again and Lewis knows that, hence why he judges Max's personality and the things he says with that knowledge.

Max's past is something Max hates to talk about because, from an outsider perspective, it was the reason why he spiralled. His mother got killed by his father when he was around seven years old and after that, he was abused to the point where he was starved, at the brink of death and just mentally so changed that he would kill his own father, which he ultimately did when he was 12.

After this, he couldn't stop. He wandered through the cities without much money, looked for easy people to steal from and lived in abandoned places because that's the only place the police will never look for him. There, he took in orphans or children with abusive families and killed their families, to ensure a safer life for these kids.

As for Lewis' past, Max knows about his advantage in the form of the technology but nothing about how he got it. Lewis will tell him that one night when both were vulnerable but until then, all he knows about Lewis is that he's the person that got Max sent to the death row with his technological advantage and that he needs Max's criminal mind/knowledge to catch someone who either kills similar to Max or tries to impersonate him

Max and Lewis have to work together as you know and Lewis is reluctant to work with an "Apex Criminal" like Max but Max never really tried to run away and Lewis always thought that Max would wait to get him one day but nope.

During a storm, they hide inside an abandoned jail cell and Max tells Lewis to sleep while he'll guard him but obviously, Lewis doesn't trust him and tries to stay awake, only to fall asleep and wake up to a clean blanket and pillow to be wrapped around him and Max still guarding.

Lewis thinks it's a coincidence (he just doesn't want to admit how hard his heart hammered) and Max never talks about it either!

Only at the end of their mission does it come up and Max only tells him that he couldn't let him freeze to death in a place he shouldn't even be (hiding the fact that Max's concerned about his well-being)
