Everyone in Amity is at least slightly liminal. Especially the kids, who grew up around the time the portal was built. Amity is pretty far out of the way, not many tourists come despite it’s reputation as the most haunted town on Earth. This means people in Amity aren’t too familiar with what exactly is normal.

Now you know the stories of how Kryptonite is just hardened Ectoplasm, and tastes like candy to ghosts? Well, Kryptonite is radioactive, so it’s safe to assume Ectoplasm is as well. Amity Park is essentially an exclusion zone with the amount of radiation that’s in the air. It wasn’t too bad before the accident, but now levels are high enough that visitors get sick after a few days spent in the town. The locals seem to be handling it fine, especially the kids, who’ve been exposed to low levels of radiation ever since the Fentons started their experiments.

The GIW aren’t usually so incompetent. They had sent a couple of poorly performing agents out there before the accident to keep an eye on the Fentons after reviewing some of the scientists’ more… concerning patents. Everything was under control until the portal opened. They sent out a couple more agents to investigate why nobody was sending status reports anymore, only to discover the town now has beings of pure radiation attacking it, along with a (also radioactive) child hero protecting it.

The new agents became sick in a matter of days, and were forced to return early and report what was going on. The government decides to keep this whole town’s situation under wraps for the time being. The citizens didn’t seem to be in any immediate harm, and so far the amity-based agents haven’t done anything too extreme. Besides, it’s not like they’d be as insane as to like- attack the town’s only hero, right? They can’t possibly be that stupid.

This becomes an issue when the kids graduate and begin going off to college in other cities. Imagine Danny tries going ghost for just a moment, and suddenly he’s being declared a rogue and put on the JL’s watchlist.

So Danny comes to Gotham. Down on his luck. But lo and behold, he still has access to the kingly vaults! He doesn't have to worry about money!!! He can just buy a small apartment and live out his miserable little life In luxury!

But then he is stopped on a horrible and a dark stump in his plan. How in the 7 hells is he gonna explain it to the IRS ??????

Sso from that day onwards Gotham had a new little cafe in a quiet little nook. The prices are super cheap. And it by far has the best fudge in all of Gotham. If you exclude Alfred's.

The gothamites love it. It's a favorite college hangout. Everyone is pretty sure the cafe is a front. Everyone is 100% sure of it. But in this economy who the hell cares. At least it's not nfts.

People can actually benefit from this because we can get like a whole breakfast for like 4 dollars ( an au where like Danny's 2000s world is like super cheap compared to the modern Gotham city and nobody taught the poor boy common prices of this world. Danny's thinking like how do I keep accidentally going into these rich people stores with their ridiculous prices, Ughh guess I'll have to buy this I don't want to go farther) and the quality is good too. The scrawny little twink owner sure as hell does not know much about ingredients prices or did the bare minimum study of business.

Anyway when the bats came sniffing (the scrunkly little guy was innocent blame Fenton luck) and we'll tried to interrogate the owner people actually chained themselves to the front like the worlds most confused save the trees activists.
