I feel really weird about calling the Yellow Guy we get when he has full batteries ‘smart’ Yellow Guy since I saw the battery replacement stuff less as ‘making him smart’ and more like ‘pulling him out of chronic exhaustion’.

He already had a lot of random moments of awareness before, but he couldn’t remember the context of things or couldn’t word what he needed to say or just, couldn’t focus for long enough. I’m speaking from experience, I’m tired a LOT of the time and it makes everything more difficult, from hearing people/seeing things to focusing long enough to finish a thought or even wording something properly, and I also get ‘weird’ or ‘funny’ when I’m really tired for a long time, saying things that make sense to me but not anybody else until I explain it or they guess it properly. The batteries could easily be read as ‘spoons’ or like those batteries people put in their bios to represent energy levels. He’s just got a higher energy level and he’s able to actually process what’s around him faster.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this, but I think that it’s less ‘smart’ Yellow Guy and more a less exhausted Yellow Guy. He already had the ‘smart’ in there, but he didn’t have enough energy to express it or notice his surroundings as well.
