At least this can provide a flicker of hope, & this can provide possibilities of team efforts between them & the Ainu. In all of these cases, modernisation & adaptation will be needed to ensure long term survival.
Yet another reason travel can enrich you, even if it’s done virtually or by digital means.
Why trying to speak the local language when you’re travelling matters
It’s a matter of courtesy.
It shows you
a) recognize that not all countries speak your language and you respect their language and cultural identity
b) aren’t so arrogant or imperialistic as to expect them to speak your language when you don’t speak theirs
c) consider the other person’s comfort important and are putting their ease above your own (which is particularly important if you’re asking someone for a favour like directions or local tips; if they’re taking the time to help you the least you can do is try to give them the least amount of work possible)
Even if you totally butcher the language and they take pity on you and switch to your language, the fact that you even bothered to try makes a world of difference
It takes a lot more courage to try speaking a language you don’t know at all than speaking in one you’re vaguely familiar with, so if anything, the fact you suck at the language but put yourself out there anyway gains you extra points, not less.
Here’s some more from my culture & the greater Central Asia region. These may have diffused with Zoroastrianism & in turn the Abrahamic paths (starting with Judaism) that permeate much of the world.

I’m a bit strapped for tögrög (tugrik) or yen at the moment, but which of y’all would like to oblige?
Hey, my brother and I are 2 queer ppl living in Mississippi with no government or community support. He is indigenous and were both disabled and in need of food and meds. As I'm sure y'all can imagine the state of our lives are not ideal currently. We are stuggling with housing and food I security and I've not had one of my very essential meds for almost a month, which has led to lung issues which will continue to worsen without my medication. Please help us if you're able.

(Shallow lightning of Jupiter is mysterious. This electrical discharge is from a unique solution of water and ammonia.) The pitaeyukke (solvent) isn’t yet clear, though the water is likely the pitaye (solute) in this one as one would expect.

New results from our Juno mission suggest the planet is home to “shallow lightning.” An unexpected form of electrical discharge, shallow lightning comes from a unique ammonia-water solution.
It was previously thought that lightning on Jupiter was similar to Earth, forming only in thunderstorms where water exists in all its phases – ice, liquid, and gas. But flashes observed at altitudes too cold for pure liquid water to exist told a different story. This illustration uses data obtained by the mission to show what these high-altitude electrical storms look like.
Understanding the inner workings of Jupiter allows us to develop theories about atmospheres on other planets and exoplanets!
