(I couldn't get this scenario out of my mind so I had to write about it ><

It's @ada-melodies fault, who made an amazing fanart of Zevlor sleeping which is stuck on my mind now q.q)

When you came back to your room at the Elfsong tavern, it was already past midnight. Your quest took up most of the day and half of the night as well but you came back without major injuries, which was already a success.

The others who didn't join on your quest were already sleeping and you smiled at how quiet it was in the room. It's a rare situation that no one is arguing and you enjoyed how calm it made you feel.

Astarion, Gale and Shadowheart, who had joined you for the quest were also quiet, which is especially rare as Astarion barely keeps his mouth shut, but it seems all of them were just too exhausted. They whispered a Goodnight to each other as they didn't want to wake up the others sleeping. You whispered a Goodnight back to them and watched as they walked over to their beds.

As glad as you were for the day finally being over, you still had a lot to prepare for the upcoming fight against the Absolute and you usually felt like time was not on your side.

But right now, you didn't feel stressed for once.

You walked over to your bed, passing by a few others of your companions sleeping as your sight fell on Zevlor.

Still in disbelieve you were able to save him, you stood there staring for a moment.

He obviously didn't plan on sleeping already as his book was still open but laying on his chest. One of his hands was resting on the book, the other one resting under the pillow behind his head. His hair was undone and looked messier than you ever saw it, but honestly you had never seen him without his typical hairstyle, that had half of his hair tied back.

His face had never looked so relaxed as it usually carried a sad and worried expression.

You stood there for a few moments just staring at him. Even though you are aware that he didn't plan on falling asleep, it made you happy to see him so peaceful for once.

You took a few steps closer to him, carefully taking the book from underneath his hand so that it wouldn't fall and startle him in his sleep. Quietly putting it down besides him and cautiously moving his hair out of his face.

The calm feeling you got made you feel braver than usual as you placed a kiss on his forhead, quickly moving away not to disturb his sleep.

You moved over to your own bed and felt a sigh escape you.

If only every night would be so peaceful with all the different people who joined your camp.

What you weren't aware of was the fact that Zevlor did wake up when he felt your lips on his forhead but he was still to sleepy to process it.

He kept his eyes closed until he heard your footsteps leaving his side. Honestly he thought he was still dreaming but he wasn't going to question it, just taking in the warmth in his heart he was feeling in this moment when drifting back to sleep.

(I didn't write something in forever but the lack of zevlor content brought me back! And as english isn't my first language and I'm not used to writing in english, I hope there aren't too many mistakes ><

TLDR: Gortash should have had an optional redemption route exclusive to a Durge run

i've only seen a few people talk about it, and it really is extremely sad to me that Gortash has no redemption path. he really is the bad ending version of all the other characters' cycle-of-abuse backstories. SO many bg3 characters can be saved from that, and a huge point of the game is how you can be more than what your abusers tried to make you be, and that doesn't happen for Gortash. no matter what decisions you make he has a bad ending, suffering eternally at the hand of his own god.

it's just so odd to me the way that was handled: ESPECIALLY in a durge run. i understand being unable to redeem him in a normal Tav route; he doesn't know you, why would you be able to give the help and support he needs. but in a Durge run, you two were clearly *so close* to the extent that when you arrive, he shows genuine joy at your arrival, calls you his "nearest and dearest" and has MANY other lines showing that he deeply trusted and respected you pre memory-loss.

they also give you as the player proof that durge felt *the same way* about him with things like the prayer of forgiveness letter they wrote about him: "Forgive me Father, for i can't help but admire the Chosen of your sworn foe..."

Gortash meant so much to durge that they were genuinely having a religious crisis over caring about someone and something that wasn't their Holy Father and his plan for you to kill everyone and end the world.

he cared about Durge when they were fully under their Father's control. he cared about Durge when they come back as an amnesiac. he keeps caring, even if you choose to reject your Father. he tells you you'll never be a servant, that he views you as his sole equal, that now that you have returned to him he wishes you two to rule together as one. and if you reject him or side with him, his fate is the same, and you barely acknowledge when he dies. it just seems so counter to the rest of the game and its messages. i know a lot of content was cut and changed in act 3 and that a lot of people, myself included, felt like the end of the game fell flat compared to the earlier parts, and Gortash's utilization is one of the biggest examples of that.

(sorry this is a bit of a mess lol i have strong feelings about this and his story is such a tragic waste)

How you know he loves you before you date, with Zevlor

To start with, Zevlor is definitely the type of man to think he's too old to find a partner or have romance in his life. Prove this man wrong.

As soon as he sees you, he just knows he won't be able to get you out of his head. Doesn't matter what he has to attend to, Zevlor accidentally finds himself looking over at you every time you look away. If you happen to catch him then you'll see a very flustered tiefling desperately try to look like he's busy doing anything else.

Zevlor is the type of guy I see as an acts of service and quality time appreciator.

He's always around to help you with things, Zevlor is already helping all the tiefling refugees but something about helping you sets off butterflies in his chest. Considering how tall he is, Zevlor would totally reach up over you to pull something from a shelf if it's too high for you. The flustered little smile he gives when he passes the item over really should give away his feelings.

For quality time, literally spend any time with him and he'll melt. Join him in his little makeshift office as he pours over maps, even if you're just in there to raid his books he'll still enjoy your presence. Try and pull Zevlor away to have a little picnic with you, you're the only one he'd say yes to. He deserves a treat and the way he finally relaxes is the greatest sight in faerun.

He'd be a bit protective too, not possessive but he desperately wants to make sure you're staying safe. Zevlor is first in line to bandage any injuries, with a mild scolding about how his heart can't take the worry. You can tell he always has an eye out too when he makes sure Rolan isn't too snappy with you and the druids aren't giving you any grief.

Overall, you make him feel young again. He can't quite believe you'd go for someone his age, but it's because he doesn't realise what a catch he is. Luckily for Zevlor we all already know :)

I wasn't going to write tonight, but after the encouragement I got to write for Zevlor I couldn't help myself. Might do a 'how you know he loves you while dating' for Dammon as a second part to his headcanons, let me know what you guys think!
