stepping out of your bedroom, you caught sight of a familiar fabric meeting broad shoulders, leaning up against the arm of the sofa. from your position, you could see his legs, drawn up so they'd fit, encased in his regular cargoes, stretched tight across his thighs.

whenever könig was feeling anxious, even at home with you, he'd sometimes put his mask back on. it offered some level of security, and he could relax a little under its cover. he'd explained this to you while squeezing your hand, reassuring that it's never any fault of yours. he just needed it sometimes.

moving forward, you walk into his eyeline, turning so your body is facing him. his eyes widen as they lock with yours. this makes you frown a little, as you guessed he had been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear your approach. you reach out slowly, giving him time to stop you. your hand presses to the back of his head, moving down to smooth the fabric over his hair.

his eyes flutter as he leans into your touch.

"you okay? woke up without you."

he shakes his head minutely, his eyes shiny and seemingly extra pale against his dark mask.

oftentimes when he was in this state, it was best to let him be, and he finds you again when he's ready. dropping your hand from his head, you give him a gentle smile and a small nod, you turn to head to the kitchen, thoughts of getting him some water and food running through your head, something he forgets when he's feeling anxious. before you can take a step away, you feel a large hand grip your wrist, tightening slightly.

twisting back, you notice that he had shifted his body up to reach you, his black tee stretching a little over his chest.

"schatz."

his voice was quiet and scratchy, strained from having not been used for hours. his hold on you loosened, his hands falling to his thighs. in a stuttered, awkward motion, he lets his legs fall open, creating a space between. his eyes implore to yours, glossy with emotion. it takes you a moment, but you understand the prompt. climbing between his legs, you settle your body against his. your head rests on his shoulder with your arm reaching across his chest.

immediately, his arms come up, wrapping around your body, holding you to him. the comforting feeling of his arms around you relaxes you, and you take a deep breath. könig mirrors you, his chest rising as the air rushes into his lungs.

it takes a few minutes of snuggling, but eventually, könig takes another deep breath before lifting one hand to remove his mask, dropping it on the floor. his arm quickly readjusts back around you, squeezing a little. you tilt your head up a little, pressing a small kiss to his jaw.

"feeling better?"

his low hum in response rumbles against your cheek and you can't hold back the little smile that spreads across your face. he turns his head to gratefully press his lips against your temple.

"thank you, liebling."
