Chicago Franchise Episodes Timeline FAQs

Chicago Franchise Episodes Timeline FAQs

image

So by now I have been asked a lot of questions about my One Chicago Franchise Timeline, and my Photoshop blog have kinda been overrun by asks (but keep ‘em coming!) To ease navigation, here is a masterlist of all One Chicago asks I’ve been sent.

All of these are tagged in my blog under #one chicago ask.

Timeline / Continuity

Which episodes show/mention specific dates in time? We obviously know which years events are happening in, but I've just started rewatching Med and I can't figure out *when* events are actually happening.

I've recently been binging Med again [S01 to S03] and I noticed that they've given specific dates for events.

How does Chicago Justice fit into the timeline?

Why did you remove Chicago Justice from your list after the 1st season?

I have noticed quite a few inconsistencies in Fire S02-S03 and PD S01-S02, some episodes actually are two-parters. (fixed)

34. Chicago PD - S01E01 - Stepping Stone: In PD S01E01, Dawson appeared as a Medic even though she is on the Fire academy since Fire S02E011. (fixed)

40. Chicago PD - S01E03 - Chin Check: The previous episode, Fire S02E13, and this one have different weather. (cannot fix)

46. Law & Order: SVU - S15E15 - Comic Perversion: Is the SVU crossover with PD S01E06 episode 14 or 15?

62. Chicago Fire - S02E22 - Real Never Waits: Should this episode be listed after Chicago PD - S01E14 - The Docks? (fixed)

124. Chicago Med - S01E01 - Derailed: Do they ever mention the timeframe between when Chicago Med's ED is blown (Fire S03E20) and when the new ED opens in the first episode of Med?

147. Law & Order: SVU - S17E14 - Nationwide Manhunt: Is the SVU crossover with PD S03E14 episode 13 or 14?

172. Chicago Med - S01E18 - Timing: How does Jeff Clarke’s appearances in Fire S05 matches up with Med S01?

Watch Order

[IMPORTANT] The timelines listed on the blog and the spreadsheet are both very different. Which one should we go by?

I just watched an episode that ended with a cliffhanger. How can I find the name of the next episode to watch?

In what order do you watch the three episodes? (as of February 16, 2020)

Where to Watch

Where do you watch all of the episodes? I missed them all on TV. (as of January 11, 2021)

Where can I watch Law & Order? (as of July 7, 2020)

Where do you watch Med and Justice, because I am having a hard time finding them? I know PD and Fire are on IMDb and Prime Video. (as of June 8, 2020)

Typos

124. Chicago Med - S01E01 - Derailed: Also titled « The Green Branch » (ask 2)

167. Chicago Fire - S04E21 - Kind of a Crazy Idea: Missing S04E21 (ask 2)

386. Chicago Fire - S07E22 - I’m Not Leaving You: S07, not S04

426. Chicago PD - S07E13 - I Was Here: Number 426, not 424; air date was 2020-02-05 (ask 2)

442. FBI - S02E19 - Emotional Rescue: Missing episode (ask 2)

Updates

April 24, 2020:

April 15, 2020:

Will you have the rest of the episodes for 2019-2020?

I noticed the last update is 2020-03-03

When will you be updating the Chicago series list?

December 29, 2019:

Last update was October and just wondering if you have continued it

Do you have the update until E09?

April 8, 2019:

Hey, when will you be updating the Chicago franchise watch list?

November 18, 2018:

How come the Chicago series has not been updated since E04?

Other Timelines

Hey so I’m not sure if this is true but my fav Chicago Fireman aka Jeff Clarke left in season 2, to then reappear in season 5, he gets hurt and becomes a med student in the end of season 1 of Med but as you’ve got it, season 1 of med was made around the time season 4 of fire came out so if that’s true, the timelines say that Clarke was both working at Station 25 as a Lieutenant and also beginning his medial residency at Chicago Med. I am very confused

Jeff Clarke my man!! He's my fave too! I was so sad he left Fire, then so happy he popped back up in Med!

You're kinda right actually! But I know the Fire Wiki a little bit confusing so... to sum it up :

(SPOILERS CHICAGO FIRE S02, kinda)

Clarke is in Fire during all of S02, he's working Rescue Squad until he gets promoted to lieutenant and transfers to another firehouse by the end of the season.

Now we don't hear from him for two full years, until he suddenly appears in Med in the S01 finale (which lines up with end of Fire S04) as a med student. He explains that sometime during this two-year gap, he hurt his back or something and couldn't be a firefighter anymore, so he switched profession to what any sane ex-marine/ex-firefighter would go for : doctor!

After that he's on Med for all of S02 also, which matches up with Fire S05, in which he makes cameos as a med student. So that's why he's on Fire S05; he's not there as a firefighter because he got injured beforehand, and has already started his medical career for some time.

Hope that clear things up for you! I'm not the best at remembering stuff that happened in Fire, the only exceptions being the first two seasons or so, because Shay and Clarke are the best :)

Hey I love your Chicago episode list and it’s really helpful while binge watching it from the beginning I was wondering if you’ll make a FBI episode list including all of their different series as it’s crossing over into Chicago, thank you x

Hey! Thanks for asking!

Man I suddenly got a lot of requests to do this! I talked about it in my two previous asks if you want to check it out, but all in all, if (and if only) I do make a FBI episode list, I’ll have to watch it beforehand.

I learned by doing my Chicago masterlist that I can’t just order the episodes by air date like I did until now, it creates inconsistencies when you binge-watch all shows. So I won’t do the same mistake for another list.

Right now I’m rewatching the Chicago shows, and the FBI « crossover » (I’m not sure it’s even a crossover) is in like, uh... 357 episodes, so it may take some time until I try for a FBI list. Maybe I’ll start watching in-between my Chicago binge-watch if I need some fresh episodes, but again that’s a if.

By « all of their different series », do you mean FBI and FBI: Most Wanted, or are there any more?

Thanks a lot Ellie, and please stay safe!!

First, thanks. I use this site every day. Just started watching the different Chicago's and its awesome to watch them in the "right" order. Now, a question. Why does Amazon call Chicago Med Season 1 Episode 1 "The Green Branch". ~ Bill S.

Hey Bill! Glad you find my Chicago list useful! I’m currently in the process of reordering the episodes better, but most of what I have left to review is still totally watchable!

For the Med pilot title, I’ve always seen it titled as « Derailed », even when it aired on TV, but you’re absolutely right too, some articles online also calls it « The Green Branch. » My guess is both titles are okay, it’s the same episode! Maybe it’s different due to localization or something.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I’ve added a note to my list!

Take care!

Why did you remove Chicago Justice from your awesome list after the 1st season?

Hello ChiJ anon!

I kind of did not have a choice, Chicago Justice was not renewed for a second season...! Guess it didn’t have enough views or something... My other guess is that lawyers didn’t appeal to as many people as firefighters, cops and doctors, and that two/three episode a week to promote a fourth show was kinda, uh, overwhelming...

Thanks for the question, stay safe! :)

derailed makes more sense as a title because med’s episode titles have the same amount of words as the season (except for crossover episodes)

Right?! I think it’s so cool that they play with episode titles like that! It’s also incredibly useful, we instantly know the season the episode belongs to!

I’d never heard about Med S01E01 being called The Green Branch until someone pointed it out to me! I watched the pilot on TV when it aired, and it was called Derailed ! Also makes more sense to me, since they deal with a train accident in the episode. And I have no idea what « green branch » means in this context to be honest…

Stay safe out there, anon! :)
