“babe. babe, listen to this.” taehyung taps your face lightly. you’d been lying with your head in his lap, while he scrolled through his phone and toyed with your hair, some forgotten movie playing in the background. it’s soft and warm and cosy, and you can’t count the amount of times you’ve almost drifted off to sleep in the past twenty minutes.

you rub at your drooping eyes, rolling so you can see his face — damn him for looking good at every angle — and yawn. “what is it?”

a proud smile settles on his face. “tu — es mon — coeur,” he pronounces, slowly, reading off his phone. “oui?”

you blink at him blankly. “what did you just call me?”

taehyung tuts smugly. “it’s a secret.”

you consider for a second, but you’re too sleepy to give into your curiosity. “okay. je suis ta — what was it? coeur?”

“ton coeur,” he corrects.

“mm,” you hum absently, already cuddling back into his stomach. “mkay. sure, that.”

an amused exhale leaves his mouth, and he kisses the top of your head. “goodnight, then, my love.”

you’re already fast asleep, lulled by warmth of his body beneath yours and the sweetness of his words. (and a swift google search in the morning tells you all you need to know. mon coeur — french for my heart.)
