I love the dual meaning in “Empire Now” and how it’s not clear if the empire is one hundred years behind us or if it’s fall is only one hundred years in the future. I think it’s both.

It’s the joy of living and growing in a world that is still haunted by its past, but would appear like a dream to the people a century ago who fought for it. It’s also the hope of knowing that we are still dreamers. The bad things are not inescapable, and in spite of our seemingly burning future, the sun could someday rise on something better.
