     It was a cold, late night in London of 1886. Harriet and Henry Jekyll were both taking the long way back from a special meeting between various doctors that time, discussing a large project that they wanted the two Jekylls to participate in. Their carriage, shortly after dropping off, had broken down and it would take another day to reassemble a special carriage just for the two. Reluctantly, Harriet had suggested to walk home as it was only some distance away.

     The night before, it had poured all day. Clouds from the storm were still around London and the streets were soaked with rain. Not many carriages were out and about during the night, especially when it would be expected to rain in the next hour. It added to Harriet’s anxiety with walking outside with the feeling of the two being watched.

     “Seems as if a chill has settled in, don’t you think?” Harriet mumbled to Henry, sticking close to him.

     He nodded in response, humming in thought on how and where to get home. “I don’t think it was a wise idea to walk home… no one is out and about during this time.” Henry looked down at his watch for the time, eyes going wide for a moment before beginning to pick up the pace with his walk.

     “What is it?” She asked.

     “It’s nearing 10 PM! The servants will be worried sick if we aren’t home in time!”

     To Harriet’s surprise, the two were nearly home from how quickly they picked up the speed. The normal road they usually took was blocked for construction, so they made a quick detour through some empty alleyways that would flow into their street. However, they ran into unexpected company. More so, unexpected company that wanted something from them.

Right now Oregon and California are experiencing one of the worst wildfires to date. The sky is orange and everything smells like a campfire and I'm bad at articulating but it's really serious. Thousands have had to evacuate and lost they're homes in the process. I don't like talking about topical stuff on the blog v often but I'm in the midst of the evacuation zone in Oregon and shits scary. I'm afraid of losing my home and I'm afraid for my family and friends.

Idk what the point is of this post but I feel like not many people outside of the northwest know how bad it is rn cus it's bad. The moment I find donation links I'll link them to this post but I haven't found any yet. And if you're in the northwest rn, please be safe.
