reasons why DSMP is the second coming of the Homestuck fandom

in no particular order:

simple, colorful artstyle which contrasts with the at times extremely dark subject matter

convoluted plot involving time travel and multiple versions of the same characters

many elements of canon are strongly influenced by if not straight up lifted from fanon, and the fandom has at times been asked to directly determine the plot

color coded characters

bizarre and fucked up familial relationships

a multiple-deaths system

big bad is a green dude with a god complex who’s spent much of the plot trapped in a very small space

multiple albums’ worth of fanmade music, some of which ends up being incorporated into the canon

fandom culture formed around a regular slow drip of story, delivered via daily updates, with occasional massive plot events that leave everyone riled up for weeks

canon leans heavily on the fourth wall - the fact that there is an audience watching these characters’ lives is crucial to the story

revolutionized its medium to tell a story in a way that would have been impossible in any other format

viewed by outsiders with anything from confusion to derision to outright contempt, to which the fandom response is gleeful self-mockery (see: psmp)

To add on to this Disney owns Gravity Falls and Square Enix has right to some Disney property and therefore Bill!Sans is canonically possible.

Due to the fact that Nintendo has some rights to Undertale (Smash) and Nintendo has access to Square (Final Fantasy, etc.). Therefore Sora can technically visit Undertale.
