INTRODUCTION

ONE

Stella sat in her one-bedroom apartment browsing the web for any ideas on how to get into a nursing program with barely any college credits. Had she found anything useful? Nope, not at all, who knew you’d actually need the experience to get into nursing school. Tired of not finding anything useful she set her laptop down on the coffee table in her living room and went to get a water bottle from her fridge.

When she sat back down she got a call from her little brother. "Hey Scott, what's-" She was cut off by Scott's urgent tone.

"I need your help, but you have to come back to Beacon Hills." Scott waited for her to answer.

"What? Come back?" Confused by the urgency knowing he was scared she continued, "What's happening over there?" Stella asked him.

Scott sighed, "A pack, a new pack, made up of Alphas." Silence filled the conversation, "Isaac was able to find where they are but he doesn't remember anything."

He was about to continue when Stella said, "Amnesia caused by emotional trauma, what he saw probably scared him enough to make his brain push it to the back of his mind, protecting his mental state. Why do you need my help? I'm sure Deaton can figure something out."

"We need you Stel, Deaton says you might have a better chance at getting through to Isaac since you have a balance with nature or something like that," Scott said in an almost begging tone.

"Okay, I'll be home soon." Opening her laptop again to book a flight home she continued, "How's mom?"

"Good, she's sort of taken the initiative of being a werewolf medic," Scott answered lightly chuckling.

"Well you gotta have someone do it," She clicked the purchase flight tab and printed her boarding pass, "okay I booked the earliest flight I'll be there as soon as possible."

"See you soon, Stella," Scott said hanging up.

________________________________

A couple of days later at the vet clinic, Scott, Stiles, and Derek were pouring ice into a metal tub filled with water, Dr. Deaton was talking to Isaac, letting him know what would be going on, "Obviously, it's not going to be particularly, comfortable. But if we can slow your heart rate down enough, you'll slip into a trance-like state."

"Like being hypnotized." Isaac wondered out loud, walking toward the ice water, kneeling next to it.

"Exactly, you'll be half transformed, it'll let us access your subconscious mind," Deaton explained more following him.

Isaac looked up from the ice water, asking Deaton, "And you're the one that's going to be doing it?"

Deaton went to answer Isaac when Derek interrupted their focus. "What are we waiting for?" Derek questioned, watching Scott as he looked at his phone.

"Someone that can help us," Scott answered bluntly not giving Derek anything.

“I thought you were gonna be doing this?” Isaac asked Dr. Deaton.

Deaton looked at Scott and seeing as he was too busy on his phone answered Isaac, “No, there’s someone that has better... abilities than me you could say.”

Derek looked confused wanting to question him when suddenly he heard the bells to the clinic’s front door jingle, and he was hit with a familiar scent, lavender and honey, he walked to where he could see who it was, and when he saw her he was taken aback, he hadn't seen her since they were 16, "Stella."

Let me know if you’d like to be added to the tag list, thank you for reading! <3

i’ve decided to make each chapter a bit longer so i can hopefully go through each episode in one writing, but i might also split it into two

INTRO ONE TWO THREE FOUR

FIVE

After what felt like hours, Stella finally got a call from Scott, “Boyd and Cora are out of the vault, we’re near the preserve, we’re gonna try to catch them.“

"Cora?” She asked, trying to remember why that name sounded so familiar.

“Derek’s little sister,” Scott answered, hanging up. Stella looked up at Peter, who was listening to the conversation. He turned his head and walked up the stairs. Stiles and Stella went their separate ways, he got a call from his and Scott’s friend Lydia, and she went to the woods to help find Boyd and Cora.

When she arrived, Stiles called her, “Lydia, uh, she found someone, someone dead.”

“What? Someone’s dead?”

“Yeah, like bloody, mangled, dead.”

“Where?” Stella asked as she walked towards where Scott told her to meet them.

“At the public pool.” He answered.

“And you’re sure it was Boyd and Cora?” She questioned, arriving at the destination, earning a few glances from Isaac, Scott, and Derek, who listened in on the rest of the conversation.

“This doesn’t make any sense.” Derek said at the end of the phone call, “The public pool is on the other side of the woods. We haven’t tracked them anywhere near there.” Stella looked at Derek and could see how confused he was.

“Derek, they killed someone,” Scott tells him, trying to reiterate what Stiles had said.

“How are they moving so fast?” Derek wonders out loud, ignoring Scott.

“Derek,” Scott says firmly, trying to get him to listen.

“They can’t be that fast on foot.”

“They. Killed. Someone.” Scott enunciates. “Some totally innocent kid is dead, and it’s our fault.“

"Scott,” Stella begins, looking at her brother.

“It’s my fault,” Derek says. Stella looks at him, his face filled with guilt, she wants to tell him that it isn’t his fault, but she knows it won’t matter. Derek blames himself, nothing is going to change that.

“We need help,” Scott tells Derek.

“We have Isaac now.” He replies.

“I mean real help,” Scott says, earning a hurt glance from Isaac and a confused one from Stella. Who else do they know that could help them? She thinks. “They’re too fast for us, for all of us. They’re too strong, too rabid.”

“We’ll catch them,” Derek says, looking down at the ground, not convincing anyone.

“What happens if we do?” Isaac asks, “We’re just gonna hold them down until the sun comes up?”

“Maybe it would be easier just to kill them,” Derek responds. He had guilt and sadness covering his face. He looked up and met Stella’s eyes.

“Killing them isn’t the right thing to do and you know it,"  She tells him.

"What if it’s the only thing to do? If we can’t even catch them, what else do we do?” Isaac asks her.

“When I was learning how to use my magic, the coven taught me things they learned from other covens,” Stella says, earning a few confused looks.

“And what’s that supposed to do with catching Boyd and Cora?” Derek questions.

"We find someone who knows what they’re doing, someone who knows the target, someone we can learn from,” Scott replies, understanding what Stella had meant.

“Who?” Derek asks.

Stella looks at Scott, asking, “Deaton, he knows enough about werewolves. Wouldn’t he know how to catch them?”

“No, we need someone who knows how to hunt werewolves.” He answers. Stella looks completely confused. Why would they want to talk to a hunter? You know the person that hunts them? She thought.

_______________________________

They all hop into Derek’s cruiser, “So you guys are like friends with this hunter?” Stella asks, finally surfacing her thoughts.

“Retired hunter.” Scott corrects her. “It’s Allison’s dad.”

“Allison?” She repeats, “The ex-girlfriend, but still friends Allison? Don’t you two still have feelings for one another?” She questions, getting a couple of snickers from Isaac in the front seat.

They arrive at the store parking lot where Chris Argent, Stella learns is his name, is at. Stella, Derek, and Isaac stay in the cruiser, watching Scott approach him. Argent pulls his keys out of his jacket pocket, dropping one of the bags. As Scott approached him cautiously, he opened the trunk of his SUV and placed the bags inside. When he closed the trunk door, he pulled his gun out and turned quickly, aiming it at Scott’s head.

Scott looked at the gun, then back to Argent, and then back to the gun, “Uh, hi.” He said with his hands slightly up.

Back in Derek’s cruiser, Stella is leaning forward with her elbows on the middle console watching the scene pan out, “Do you think this is gonna work?” She asks Derek and Isaac.

“Nope,” Derek responds plainly.

Sighing, Stella says, “Me neither.” She placed her hand on her head, using her thumb and pointer finger to rub her temples. She had a pounding headache ever since she went out to the woods.

“Are you okay?” Isaac asks her, looking away from Argent and Scott.

“I’m fine. It’s nothing.”

“So your, uh-your sister,” Isaac began. Both Derek and Stella looked at him with raised eyebrows. “Sorry, yeah, it’s-it’s bad timing, I’m sorry. I’ll uh-I’ll ask later. It’s fine."

"Oh my gosh,” Stella said, placing her face in her hands to keep herself from laughing.

“Or um never,” Isaac said, looking at Derek scared. “Yeah, yeah, I’m good with never.” Silence filled the cruiser once more as they watched Argent and Scott.

Argent still had his gun pointed at Scott as they talked. After a few minutes, he put his gun away, but it didn’t look like Scott had much luck convincing him to help them, as he started walking away from him. Scott looked around, trying to think of something to get him to help, and finally, he said something to him, which prompted them both to get into Argent’s vehicle.

The trio in Derek’s car watched as Scott hopped into Argent’s vehicle, “Are we following them?” Isaac asks them.

“No, we go to the woods to meet Scott and Argent,” Derek answered him.

“But Scott didn’t even convince him to help us.” He countered, knowing how the conversation went due to his hearing capability.

“He has a backup plan. He’ll get him there,” Stella told Isaac as Derek drove off.

________________________________

“They’re on their way,” Stella says, hanging up on Scott.

She glanced up at the full moon nervously, feeling the pulsing sensation of her headache getting worse, “Everything will be alright.” Derek reassured her. She nodded, watching as Scott and Argent appeared through the shadows of the trees.

“Who’s this?” Argent asked, looking at Stella.

“Stella, I’m Scott’s older sister.” She answered.

“And what are you? Are you human?” He asked her.

“No, I’m a witch."

"I’ve never met one, only heard stories.” He told her.

“We like to keep a low profile, try not to attract attention to ourselves.” She informed him.

He studied her like he was trying to see if there were any indicators of her magic. Looking away towards the rest of the group, he threw the duffel bag he was carrying on the ground and kneeled, asking them, “You’re tracking them by print?”

“Trying to,” Scott said, also kneeling next to him.

“Well, then, you’ve been wasting your time.” He tells them standing up, “There’s only one creature on earth that can visually track footprints, and that’s man. And if you’re not trained like me, you have no idea that this print is Boyd’s,” he points to the prints on his left, “And these-”

“Are Cora’s,” Isaac says, pointing to the prints on the other side of Argent.

“Nope. They’re yours.” Argent says while Isaac looks towards the ground around him, “You trampled over Cora’s as soon as you walked over here. Listen, I know the three of you are focusing half your energy on resisting your own urges under the full moon, but that puts you at a severe disadvantage.” He says as Stella looks at the Alpha and the two Betas, “Boyd and Cora have fully given in. They put the pedal to the floor where you three are barely hitting the speed limit.”

“So what do we do?” Derek asks him, crossing his arms.

“Focus on your sense of smell. Actual wolves are known to track their prey by up to a hundred miles a day by scent. A trained hunter can use scent to track them. If the wind is with them, wolves can track a scent by a distance of two miles, which means we can draw them to us or into a trap.” He answers, throwing a roped net at Scott, who catches it, “The full moon does give us one advantage. They’ll have a higher heat signature, which makes them easier to spot with infrared.” He pulled out heat vision goggles throwing them to the werewolves and witch.

Catching it, Derek told him, “Thanks, but I’ve got my own.” And showed his eyes glowing a crimson red.

“Just remember, we’re not hunting wild animals. Underneath those impulses are two intelligent human beings. Don’t think they can’t rely on that human side. It’s suppressed, but it’s there, reminding them how to mask their scent, how to cover their tracks, how to survive.” Argent tells them. Walking towards the edge of the preserve that overlooks the town, he asks Derek, “When’s the last time you saw your sister?”

“Nine years. I thought she died in the fire,” he replies somberly.

“Do you feel like you have a lock on her scent?” Argent asks him.

He shakes his head. Scott turns to Stella, “Can’t you do like a locator spell?” He asks her with a hopeful tone.

She shakes her head, “No, there’s a lot of things I need that we don’t have the time to get.”

“Scott,” Argent says, “How confident are you in your skills?”

“Honestly, most of the time, I’m trying not to think about all the things I can smell.” He answers.

“Alright, the problem is when they breach the woods and hit the residential area. Once they’re past the high school, they’re right in the middle of Beacon Hills."

"They’re not gonna kill everything they see, are they?” Isaac asked, looking at the others.

“No.” Argent paused, turning around to continue, “But there is an important difference to recognize. Wolves hunt for food. At a certain point, they get full. But Boyd and Cora are hunting for the pleasure of the kill, for some primal apex predatory satisfaction that comes from the ripping of warm bodies to bloody shreds, and who knows when that need gets satiated?”

“We can’t kill them,” Scott says.

“What if we can’t catch them?” Derek asks, looking at the young beta.

“Maybe we could just contain them? You know until the sun comes up?” Stella suggested.

Argent looking at her, realized what she meant. Since they’re too rabid and the reality of catching them was wearing thin, they just needed to hold them until the full moon passed, “There’s no one in the school at night, is there?”

“You want to trap them inside?” Derek questioned.

“If there’s somewhere with a strong enough door, no windows or access to the outside.”

“What about the boiler room?” Isaac wondered.  “It’s just one big steel door.”

“You’re sure the school is empty?” Argent asked.

“It has to be.” Scott declared. “There can’t be anyone there this late, right?”

Stella winced harshly, her head was pounding, “Are you sure you’re okay?” Isaac asked her again.

“I’m fine. It’s just a headache.” Even though her head felt like it would explode from all the pain and heat building, she continued to help.

They walked into the woods, going back to where Argent parked his SUV. He took something out of his duffel. It was steel and looked like a miniature version of a ground light. He stabbed it into the ground where he stood, “These are ultrasonic emitters. It’s one of the tools we use to corral werewolves, pushing them into a direction we want them to run.” He pushed the top of the emitter in, causing it to flash a white light and produce a sound that caused the werewolves to cover their ears and wince in pain. “It gives off a high pitched frequency that only they can hear."

"I think they figured that out,” Stella said as she and Argent looked at the others.

Argent walked to the back of his vehicle, opening the trunk, causing the rest of the group to follow him. He opened a case that held eight emitters, handing two to each of them. He looked at Stella and told her, “You’re gonna ride with me to the school, and we’ll meet the others there.” She nodded, knowing she wasn’t going to be able to keep up with the others on foot.

“These are gonna drive them to the school?” Derek asked skeptically, looking down at the emitters in his hands.

“And then it’s up to you to get them in the basement,” Argent said, not answering Derek’s question.

“Does anyone else want to rethink the plan where we just, uh, kill them?” Isaac asked nonchalantly.

“It’s going to work.” Scott said reassuringly, looking at the others, “It’ll work.”

Argent closed the trunk and got into the driver’s side while Stella got into the passenger side, watching the werewolves run off into the night. “So how did you get your powers, Daniels?” Argent asked her driving off.

“Stella.” She told him, disregarding the name he called her, “I was born with magic, but never really learned how to use it until I was 16.” She looked at him while he looked at her, curiously, “You accumulate your power over time. You learn in stages and certain skills.” She said, looking away from him. “How did you know my father?” she asks.

Argent rolled down his window and slowed the car, holding an emitter out of the window and dropping it, and as soon as it sunk into the ground, it turned on. “Your father told us what the Hale’s were. They were friends, right? Your father and Talia?” he says, answering her.

“Yes,” she said bitterly. She hated her father and how he outed the Hale’s to save himself. As they got closer to the school, Stella’s headache got worse. “Ow, god!” she yelled, holding her head in her hands as Argent parked the SUV.

“Are you okay?” he asked her, looking at her with genuine concern.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” she said, wincing, “I’ve just had this headache since I got to the woods, and it’s getting worse,” she told him.

“Maybe you should sit this out,” he suggested.

“No. No, I’m fine, really it’s nothing,” she said, looking at him, knowing she wasn’t very convincing.

“Fine, let’s put the last emitter closer to the school.” Stella nodded at him, and they got out of his SUV. Argent knelt and turned the emitter on as Scott ran up to them, and Isaac ran to another part of the school. “Do you see that?” he asked them both as he rose from the ground looking in the air.

“Yeah, it’s a firefly,” Scott answered, looking back at him.

“No, no, I know, it-,” Argent said, trailing off.

“What?” Stella asked, “Does it mean something?”

“It’s just uh, very unusual. The, uh, California fireflies aren’t bioluminescent,” Argent answered. Scott looked at him, confused.

“They don’t glow,” Stella said, answering Scott’s silent question, rubbing her temples trying to relieve her headache.

“Stella, are you sure you’re okay?” Scott said, grabbing her elbows, “You’re in a lot of pain,” he says, even more concerned now. Her headache started to fade a little bit. She looked down at Scott’s hands holding her and saw black veins. He let go when it began to feel like a dull ache.

“Thank you,” she said, with a relieved breath. Scott nodded at her and looked back at Argent. Before he could say something, they all heard howling. Boyd and Cora were at the school. The emitters were working.

“Get in the school Stella, find Derek. Scott, you find Isaac.” Argent directed.

“And what are you gonna do?” Stella asks him.

“I’ll bring the SUV around to see if that’ll push them more into the school,” They both nodded and ran their separate ways.

Stella found Derek in a hallway facing an open door. “Think they’ll come this way?” she asked him.

“That’s what I’m hoping,” he answered, not looking away from the doors. Suddenly, Boyd and Cora came into view. Derek took out his claws and Stella held her hand out and said, “ignis” her eyes glowed gold for a split second, and fire ignited in her palm. But instead of running at them, Boyd and Cora jumped to the roof.

“Shit,” Stella said, extinguishing her fire, “they’re going over the school,”

“Yeah, I can see that,” Derek said with slight annoyance. Stella rolled her eyes and ran towards the doors with Derek behind her. They met the rest of the group outside the doors.

“The red doors,” Argent began, “Someone has to get them open,” Derek nodded and ran towards the red doors.

“Someone has to drive them inside,” Scott told Argent.

“I’ll go,” Argent said, turning on his electric baton.

“No, I’m faster,” Isaac said, running towards where Boyd and Cora were.

“I’ll go with him,” Stella said, chasing after him, soon regretting her decision to run after the werewolf. When she finally caught up, she saw Boyd and Cora run into the school, and Isaac shut the door, locking it. Noticing another person, she looked up to find a girl on a bus with a bow and a quiver of arrows. When the girl saw Isaac and Stella looking at her, she ran off. “Who was that?” Stella asked in between breaths.

“Allison”

“Allison Argent? Wow, glad to put a face to the name.” Stella said, “Come on, they should be in the boiler room by now,” she told Isaac running towards the others.

Right as she got to the stairs that led to the boiler room, she saw Derek run into the room, and Scott close the door, “What are you doing! They’re gonna kill him!” She ran down the steps ignoring the pounding headache that had come back. Stella closed her eyes and put her head on the cold steel door, hearing the ripping of flesh and grunts. “Don’t give up, Derek,” she begins hoping he’s listening, “I still need you. I need you to live for me, okay? I did not come back after ten years to see you die.” The grunts had stopped, and Stella’s heart started beating faster and faster, worry seeping out of her pores.

“Scott! Stella! The sun’s coming up!” Isaac yelled as he ran down the stairs towards them. Stella ran into the room with Scott and Isaac behind her. They stopped in their tracks when they saw Boyd and Cora unconscious in their human form, and Derek kneeling looking down, he gasped looking up at them. Stella ran to him and got down on her knees, grabbing his cut up face, “I listened.” He said, slightly smiling at her.

“You did,” she smiled at him, “thank you.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug. It took him a second but, he wrapped his arms around her too. Looking up at the boys, he told them, “take them. There’s a-a teacher in the,” he trailed off, “I’ll take care of her.”

“No, I can do that.” Stella tells him, helping him to his feet.

“It’s okay, I have to talk to her,” Derek says, walking towards where the teacher was hiding.

“Derek,” Stella firmly said, causing him to turn around and focus on her, “I can talk to her. You should go, get some rest.”

“Right.” He said, looking confused walking out, “Thanks,”

Stella made her way to the caged area, where she could make out the shape of a woman in a green blouse and pencil skirt. She opened the door walking towards her slowly, trying not to alarm her, they made eye contact, and Stella smiled sweetly at her. She held out her hand for her to take, “It’s okay. I’m not gonna hurt you.” The teacher took her hand, but something strange happened when they touched. Stella felt a jolt of energy.

She went to say something about it, but the teacher interrupted her thoughts, “Can I please go now?”

“Oh, yes, you can, sorry,” Stella said, watching her walk away. Once she was gone, Stella felt her headache go away.

_____________________________________________

Stella walked to the parking lot, seeing Argent and Scott waiting for her, watching a red car leave the lot. “Come on, Stiles says he has something to show us,” Scott said, getting in Argent’s SUV. Stella got in the backseat, looking at her hands and noticing the blood. She must have rubbed some off of Derek when she hugged him. She thought about the energy she felt between her and the teacher. Does she have magic?  Scott looked back at Stella in concern, her eyebrows were furrowed, and he could smell her anxiety, “what’s on your mind?” he asked her.

She looked up at him and responded, “nothing, I’m just glad Boyd and Cora are okay,”

“And Derek?” he asked her with raised eyebrows.

“Yeah, and Derek,” she said, rolling her eyes and looking away from his stare. She had to admit she was really worried about Derek. Maybe her feelings for the green-eyed werewolf weren’t all gone and just suppressed.

“How’s your headache?” Scott asked, bringing her out of her thoughts.

“Oh, it’s gone. It stopped hurting when I left the boiler room,” she told him. Both of them were a bit confused. She’s never had a headache like this before.

When they got to the hospital, Argent told them this was the last time he would help them, that he was retired, emphasizing the retired part.

“Thank you,” they both said to him. “What is it Stiles wanted?” Stella asked as they walked through the doors of the hospital.

“I’m not entirely sure. He just said to meet him down in the ME’s room,”

Stella and Scott found Stiles hovering over a young woman’s body. He looked like he had been crying. When they got to the table she was on, Scott looked at her and then to Stiles as he draped the sheet back over her face. “Who was she?” Stella asked softly.

“Heather, she was a, a girl I knew, a friend,” Stiles answered sadly. “Look, I don’t think Boyd and Cora killed anyone,” he said, finally looking up at them. “But we’re gonna wish they did.”

“Why?” Scott asked.

“I’m not exactly sure yet,” he said, looking back at the sheet covering Heather. “The other girl who was out in the woods, that you found. Emily? Eventually, they’re gonna find her. She’s one of them.” Stella looked confused but continued to listen to Stiles, “Emily, Heather, the guy Lydia found at the pool. All three were virgins. And they’re all gonna have the same three injuries. Strangled, throat slashed, head bashed in. It’s called a three-fold death.”

“So if these aren’t random killings, then what are they?” Stella asked.

“Sacrifices. Human sacrifices.”

____________________________

Stella went back to the preserve, hoping that Derek might come too.

Derek lingered in the shadows of the trees, trying to think of what he would say to her. “I thought you might be here.” Derek finally said, walking out past the trees towards her.

She looked back at him, “I was just thinking about the first time you brought me here.”

He smiled, looking down at the ground, “Yeah, I remember. You said something about wanting a place that was quiet, and uh,” he paused, not knowing if he should continue.

“A place we could get some alone time.” She said, finishing his sentence. She watched his smile as he remembered the memory. He walked towards her, stopping a few feet before the rock she was sitting on, “Why’d you come?” she asked him.

“I wanted to say thank you,” he said, looking at her. “For helping with Boyd and Cora, for taking care of the teacher, and for coming back.”

Stella looked at him. The sunlight was hitting his face just right, making his emerald eyes a lighter green. “When Scott turned eight, I came back to see how him and my mom were doing. I also wanted to see you, see how you were doing, and what you were up to. But, my mom told me you were gone. I was so angry, my dad took away my life, but he also took you away.” She stopped when he moved closer. “When you were in that room tonight, I thought you were going to die, that all that separated us was a steel door, and I couldn’t go in. I can’t lose you again, Derek, okay? You can’t pull that hero crap on me.”

He smiled at her looking away, “I’m not a hero.” He told her. “A hero is a good guy, and I don’t think I qualify as one.”

He looked away from her turning his head. She reached out and grabbed his hand, catching his attention. He looked down at her and listened, “You didn’t kill Boyd and Cora. You chose the other option. You saved them. You saved a lot of people from them.” She glanced at his lips and back to his eyes, those beautiful eyes she absolutely adored. Her gaze went lower to his ripped shirt, where she spotted an open wound, “You’re still healing.”

“I’m fine.” He assured her.

“Can I try something?” She asked him, getting up from the rock. He looked at her curiously. “Oh, calm down. I just want to try out a healing spell I learned.”

“Last time I saw you do magic, you lit a tree on fire.” He joked.

“I’ve been practicing magic for ten years. I think I can hold myself back from lighting a tree on fire.” She argued.

Derek sat down on the rock, and Stella placed her hand over the wound and closed her eyes chanting, “sana,” opening her eyes just in time for Derek to see her irises glow gold.

Looking down at the wound that was glowing gold and closing, he looked up at her and asked, “Was that Latin?”

“Yeah,” she looked at the sun that overlooked the town, “I should probably head home,”

“I’ll walk you,” he said, getting up and moving to her side. They continued to talk and laugh on their way to his car, keeping close to each other, mostly for Stella to steal Derek’s warmth.

INTRO ONE TWO THREE

FOUR

Stella arrived at the building looking up, silently telling herself how bad of an idea this was. Reluctantly, she got out of her vehicle, pushing her worry to the back of her mind, walked into the building, and made her way to the loft. Making her way to the door, she stopped and stared at it. But why wasn't she knocking? Maybe it was because her heart was beating so fast. Or maybe it was because of the overwhelming fear that Derek really did hate her for leaving. In the loft, Derek could hear her heartbeat. He walked over to the door, opening it, "Were you planning on knocking? Or were you just going to stand there?" He asks her.

"I was debating whether or not this was a good idea." She states. Derek lets her in with a sarcastic wave of his arm, she walks past him looking at the space he was living in, a bed in the corner, a leather couch, and a desk. "I can smell your magic," Derek tells her.

"I haven't really gotten the concealing spell down. All black furniture? Why am I not surprised," She stopped walking when she heard footsteps walking down the spiral staircase. Stella watched him as he descended and when his face was finally visible, she realized who it was, "Peter?" She asked incredulously.

"Huh, you know you're the first person who's greeted me without sounding disappointed." He told her, smirking. Stella looked at him, confused.

Derek stepped forward and informed her of his colorful past. “Wait, so you killed him?” She asks Derek.

He nods at this to which Peter says, “Slit my throat, can you believe it? My own nephew,”

Stella looks at both of them in shock, “Well yes, Peter, I can believe it after what you did! It’s your fault Scott’s in this mess!” she yells.

“Scott’s a big boy Stella. He can handle it,” Peter responds.

"What are you even doing here?" Derek finally asks her, changing the subject.

Not forgetting the conversation that just happened, she gave Peter one final glare, “Scott said you guys were going to discuss the plan at 5, but I wanted to talk to you before that." She answers, looking at Peter she continued, "Alone."

"Oh, some alone time?" Peter said amused, "Well if it isn't high school all over again. I'll just leave you two." he said while walking out of the loft.

"I meant what are you doing in Beacon Hills?" Derek clarifies, watching Peter close the door.

“What? You don’t believe I came all this way to see you?” Derek looked at her expressionless, “okay, okay, Scott called me and said he needed help with an Alpha pack. I’ve been helping him ever since mom found out what he was,” she said holding up her hands.

“You’re the one Scott’s always on the phone with? I always thought it was Deaton,” Derek told her.

“No, that was me. But I didn’t come here to tell you why I’m in Beacon Hills, I… I wanted to apologize,” Stella says, sighing, looking at her shoes. They had become a lot more interesting than Derek's chiseled face, that she may or may not have noticed. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry about Paige and for making you hate me for leaving, but I had to leave, would you at least let me explain to you why?" She asked, finally looking up. Derek nodded, she told him everything that happened with the coven, and how her father just used her. "I wanted to come back, I did, but he wouldn't let me, so I stayed until I had my magic under control. That’s the only way I could have left,”

Derek watched her as she waited for him to say something, "I've changed since high school, I'm not the same person you knew back then." He tells her.

"Then let me know you again, I want to help you." She informs him, taking a step closer to him.

He takes a step back, "I don't know you either. We haven't seen each other since we were 16, Stella. But one thing I do know." He tells her, "I don't hate you. I never could."

She looks at the ground and then back to him, studying his face and noticing how much his features have changed. Now that they weren’t in the dim light of the vet clinic, she could actually see him. She gave him a small smile, looking at his emerald eyes, remembering when they first told each other their secrets.

Flashback

Beacon Hills Preserve, it was quiet and secluded, and the place they always went to when they wanted to be alone. They had been dating for a while, and they both wanted to tell each other their secrets finally. Stella sat on a rock while Derek sat in front of it so she could wrap her arms around him. "I'm gonna tell you something okay? But you can't freak out." She whispered in his ear.

He turned and looked at her, "Well, what I'm gonna tell you might actually freak you out."

They looked at each other, wondering the same thing. How will the other react? "Okay um, how about this?" Stella suggested, "At the same time?" It was dumb, but she was hoping it would make it easier.

"Okay, at the same time." Derek agreed, "On three. One, two, three. I'm a werewolf."

"I'm a witch." They looked at each other, their expressions changed quickly, first, it was scared, and then it was confused, and finally, it was relief. In a way, they both knew how each other felt. Stella stood up from the rock, wrapping her arms around his neck while he wrapped his arms around her waist, resting their foreheads against each other. "God, I was so scared to tell you that," she finally said, causing them to chuckle.

They pulled away, looking at each other. Derek leaned in and kissed her forehead, “I love you, Stel.”

“I love you too, Derek.”

"Do you remember when we told each other? On the preserve?" Stella asked him, coming out of her trance.

Derek nodded telling her, "Yeah, I remember."

"You know that was the moment I knew I could trust you with anything." She said, taking another step forward, testing the waters. "I still trust you Derek, even if you've changed." Stella insisted.

This time he stayed where he was, looking up at the door watching it open. It was 5:00; it was time to discuss the plan.

They all gathered around a desk while Peter sat on the spiral staircase. Stiles pulled out the building plans, blueprints, and articles that he and Scott had found. "See this?" He said, pointing at a spot on the plans, "This is how they got in. It's a rooftop air conditioning vent. It leads down inside into the wall of the vault, which is here." He uses his red sharpie to circle where the vault was. "One of the robbers was lowered into this shaft." Pointing at it he continues, "Now, that space is so small, it took him about 12 hours to drill into that wall, which is stone by the way. Then throughout the rest of the night, they siphoned the cash up to the guys back on the roof through that one little shaft in the wall."

"Can we fit in there?" Scott asked, looking at Stiles.

"Yes, we can, but very, very barely." He informed them. "And they also patched the wall, obviously, so we're gonna need a drill of some kind. I'm thinking maybe a diamond bit-"

He's cut off by Derek telling him, "Look, forget the drill."

"Sorry?" Stiles says.

"If I go in first, how much space do I have?" He asks him.

"What are you gonna do Derek? You gonna punch through the wall?" Stiles asks him.

"Yes, I'm gonna punch through the wall." He answers as if it was the most obvious thing in the entire world.

Stiles turns to him, "Okay big guy, let's see it, let's see that fist. Big, old fist. Make it, come on." He urges Derek. "Get it out there, don't be scared." Derek lifts his fist annoyed. Stiles continues his comments, "Big, bad wolf. Yeah, look at that. Okay, see this?" He asks, grabbing Derek's fist and putting his hand in front of it, "That's maybe 3 inches of room to gather enough force to punch through solid co-" Derek punches Stiles' hand causing him to stumble backward holding his hand, "Ah, he could do it." Stiles confirms in pain.

"I'll get through the wall," Derek says. Stella stifles her giggles as Stiles continues holding his hand. "Who's following me down?" Derek asks, looking at the remaining three.

"Don't look at me." Peter tells him, "I'm not up to fighting speed yet, and honestly, with Isaac out of commission, you're not looking at very good odds for yourself."

"So I'm just supposed to let them die?" Derek asks angrily.

"One of them is already dead." He reminds him.

"We don't know that," Derek says leaning against the desk with his arms flexing. If this wasn’t a sensitive time Stella would’ve started drooling at the sight of Derek clenching his teeth, making his jawline more prominent. (not stella forgetting she’s in a room full of smell sensitive werewolves)

"Do I have to remind you what we're up against here? A pack of Alphas. All of them killers. And if that's not enough to scare your testicles back into your stomach, try to remember that two of them combine bodies to form one giant Alpha. I'm sure Erica and Boyd were sweet kids. They’re gonna be missed." He says, looking away from the group.

"Could someone kill him again, please?" Stiles asks sarcastically. Pulling Stella out of her inappropriate daze.

Peter looks up, glaring at Stiles and says, "Derek? Seriously? Not worth the risk." He crosses his arms.

"And what about you?" Derek asks Stella.

"Yeah, if you want me to come-" Stiles answers.

"Not you," Derek says, annoyed.

"Maybe I should stay here and help Stiles and Peter. You're still wary about me. You shouldn't be worrying about that while you're in there. I'll stay." Stella says, looking at him.

"And you?" He asks Scott

"I don't know about Erica, but if Boyd's still alive, we have to do something. We have to try." Scott says pausing.

"But?" Derek says, sensing another part of his sentence.

"Who's the other girl? The one locked in there with Boyd?" Scott asks.

--------------------

Scott and Derek left for the bank while Stiles, Peter, and Stella stayed in the loft looking at the plans. Stiles walked towards the window biting his nails and watching the raindrops pour off the windows. "I can't take waiting around like this, you know? It's nerve-racking. My nerves are racked, they're severely racked!"

"I could beat you unconscious and wake you when it's over," Peter suggests calmly, sitting on the black leather couch.

"Wow, someone really does need to kill you again," Stella says standing at the desk still.

Peter looks at her glaring, "You know I used to be your favorite person to come to about Derek, and after one night of getting to know me again you've already decided I'm a psychotic nut job?"

"I'm not wrong, am I?" Stella counters smiling at him.

Stiles turns to them, "You think Erica's really dead?" He looks up from the ground nervously, Stella looks at him and gives him a comforting smile.

"You think I really care?" Peter answers.

Stiles starts pacing, thinking out loud, "I just-I don't understand the bank, though, okay? Like why wouldn't they chain them up in some underground lair or something? They're an Alpha pack, right? So shouldn't they have a lair?"

"They're werewolves, not fictional villains Stiles, does it look like Derek lives in a lair?" Stella says, lightly chuckling at his question.

"Wait a sec, wait a sec." Stiles continues his spew, walking around the loft examining it, "Maybe they're living there. You know? Like, maybe the bank vault reminds them of their little wolf dens."

"Wolf dens?" Stella asks, even more amused than before.

"Yeah, wolf dens," Stiles remarks, completely serious. "Where do you live?" He asks Peter.

"In an underground network of caves hidden deep in the woods," Peter answers sarcastically, lifting his head to look at Stiles.

"Woah, really?" He asks, completely amazed.

"No, you idiot, I have an apartment downtown," Peter says, laying his head back down.

"Okay, fine, but still, that just proves that there's something up with the bank." Stiles says, walking towards them, "And why wait around for the full moon, huh? Why not just kill them whenever they wanted to?"

"Maybe they think it's poetic." Peter proposes.

"Wait, Stiles, what are the walls made of," Stella asks looking down at the plans and then to Peter who looked at her questioningly.

"Uh, I don't know, like, wood and brick, or-" Stiles pointed at the loft’s ceiling.

"No, the vault." Stella says walking over to the plans, "The vault, the walls, what are they made out of?" Peter and Stiles followed her to help look at the plans.

"It doesn't say, Stiles where it would say materials, like the type of stone," Peter asked, looking at him as he reached into his backpack.

"Hang on, here." He says pulling a 3-inch thick packet out.

Looking through the papers, they finally found it. "There, that's it. Hecatolite. Is that awful? That sounds awful." Stiles asks them

"Get them on the phone. Call them. Now!" Peter shouts.

Stella pulls her phone out to call Scott, Stiles asking, "Okay, why?"

"Because Boyd and that girl aren't gonna kill each other, they're gonna kill Derek and Scott," Peter tells them.

Stella calls Scott, quickly he answers, "Stella, now's not the best time."

"Scott! No, listen to me, you have to get out of there, the walls of the vault are made of hecatolite, it's a mineral that scatters the moonlight." She tells him.

"What does that mean?" He asks her.

"It keeps the moonlight out. They haven't felt the full moon in months." She says.

"Think of it like the gladiators in the Roman Colosseum," Peter chimes in, "they used to starve the lions for three days, making them more vicious, more out of control. Deucalion has kept them from shifting for three full moons, diminishing their tolerance to it."

"Scott, they're gonna be stronger!" Stiles yells.

"More savage, more bloodthirsty," Peter adds, "Scott, they're the lions, they're the starved lions, and you and Derek just stepped into the colosseum."

"Scott? Scott!" Stella yells. They hear growls over the phone and the line disconnects. She looks up at Peter and Stiles worried out of her mind.

“How did you know?” Stiles asks Stella.

She looks up at him, surprised that something could break through the deafening sound of silence that had engulfed them. “The coven, we… We studied minerals and stones, mostly things we could derive moonlight from, to give us more power over the threat. We studied hecatolite briefly, once we realized it didn’t help us, we moved on.” she said, ashamed, but Stiles couldn’t see that. No, he couldn’t smell it radiating off of her, but Peter could, so he asked her, “Why do you say that with such shame?”

“The moon is a sacred thing; she gave me and all the witches in my bloodline their powers. I’m ashamed because we tried to exploit her, we were greedy trying to get more power than we were given.” Stella answers, lowering her head, “I’m glad we did it though, we were able to warn Scott and Derek.”

A/N: hello everyone who has read this:) thank you for reading! Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions, i’m open to helpful criticism. SIX

Stella laid in bed wide awake. She couldn’t get that teacher out of her head. She wanted to talk to her about what had happened, but what if she didn’t feel what she thought she felt. Could it have just been static electricity? Maybe they just shocked each other. But it didn’t feel like that, and she knew it. So, she decided tomorrow she’d see that teacher and hope she didn’t think she was a lunatic.

_______________________________

Stella walked through the school doors, smiling to herself at all the memories that flooded her mind. Memories of the boy she loved and the best friend she lost. She looked at the lockers the group of friends once owned, now occupied by a new group of friends and thought about the time she introduced Derek and Paige.

Flashback

Derek and Stella had already gotten over the awkward rift in their friendship after the breakup and are now back to being friends. Stella was getting her books for her next class from her locker while Derek talked to her. Paige came up to the other side of Stella’s locker to ask if she had done the French homework yet.

“No, I was hoping you did.”

“I haven’t had time. I’ve been practicing,” Paige responded. Noticing Derek behind Stella, she asked, “who’s your friend?

Stella turned and saw Derek smirking, rolling her eyes at him and turning, trying to hide her hurt expression. She said, “This is Derek,”

Scott had already told Stella where Ms. Blake’s classroom was and when she’d have a free period. Stella approached the classroom slowly, trying her best to look non-threatening standing in the doorway, “Uh, hi,” Stella spoke up to let the teacher know she was there.

“AHH,” the teacher yelled, turning around and grabbing the nearest object, which happened to be a thin wooden pointer. “What do you want?” she said anxiously, holding the object out.

“I just wanted to see if you were okay,”

“Physically or emotionally? Although, I guess that presupposes I was emotionally okay before any of this, and, according to my therapist, um, it's been debatable for a long time,” she rambles.

“I think you’re gonna be okay,” Stella replies, smiling. “I also, um, wanted to ask you something,” the teacher nodded timidly, still unsure about the whole situation. “Do you… do you have magic?”

At first, the teacher gave her a weird look, which made Stella’s heart beat faster. She knew this was a bad idea. But then, the teacher smiled and nodded, “You felt it too, didn’t you?” the woman asked.

Stella smiled excitedly, “I was hoping it wasn’t my imagination,”

“What’s your name?” Ms. Blake asked her.

“Stella,”

“I’m Jennifer,” she said, putting her hand out for Stella to shake. After they shook hands and talked for a few more minutes, Jennifer informed her that her free period was ending and she had to prepare for her next class.

“It was nice meeting you, Jennifer,”

“You too,” she replied, smiling.

_______________________________

Stella knocked on the loft door wanting to tell Derek about her meeting with the teacher and see if Cora was with him.

“Come in,”

“I spoke to the teacher. She has magic, Derek,” she said excitedly, walking down the steps and standing in front of Derek who was leaning against his desk.

He smiled at her, he could see how happy it made her, but his attention was quickly taken away by Cora, who was walking down the spiral staircase in workout gear. The girls immediately smiled at each other going in for a hug. “God, I haven’t seen you in years. Look how big you’ve gotten,” Stella told her while they hugged. She walked to where Derek was and leant against the desk next to him watching Cora do a pull-up. After a few of them Derek walked behind her,  “Stop. You’re not done healing,”

“Yeah, well, I’m done lying around,” Cora said as she got into position to do push-ups.

“Then sit,”

“Are you gonna help me go after them,” she asked, doing a push-up. Derek walked over and kicked a hand out from under her making her fall. He turned and walked away while Cora rose to her feet, attacking him. “Come on, fight back,” She yelled at him while he had a hold of her arms. This got Stella’s attention. She stopped leaning against the desk and watched as Derek released Cora, “I came back for this?” Cora scoffed, turning away from him, “I can’t believe I got my ass thrown in a vault for three months for you. All those rumors I heard. A powerful new Alpha, one of the Hale’s, was building a pack.” Turning around, she looked at him angrily, “Do you know how long I waited to hear something like that? Do you have any idea how it felt to know you were alive?”

“I'm sorry to disappoint you,” Derek responded.

“Cora, come on,” Stella began, trying to defend Derek.

“You’re seriously defending him? Really? He’s not even trying to fight back,” Before Stella could say anything else, an alarm started blaring throughout the loft. All three of them turned towards a blinking red light and then towards the opening door. “What’s that?”

“Trouble,” Derek answered. The door fully opened, revealing one of the Alphas, a big muscular bald man. He growled, baring his claws and fangs. “No, wait, wait!” Derek yelled at Cora, who ignored him and ran to attack the huge Alpha.

His hand met her throat, slamming her to the ground. Looking up towards Derek and Stella, he said, “Ready for a rematch?” Derek was about to go towards the other Alpha when someone appeared at the door, a barefoot woman who growled as she entered. Derek and Stella got into a fighting position next to each other. The woman walked down the stairs, but Stella held her hands up, her eyes glowed gold for a split second, and she held the woman in place, giving Derek the ability to attack her first. Stella let go of her and went to help Derek. The woman kicked her leg up to Derek’s side. He grabbed a hold of it and threw her. She landed on her feet near Stella, who lifted her hands to push the woman back but was too slow and shoved to the ground instead. She heard Derek and the woman growl at each other. She looked up to see the woman break a pipe and hit Derek with it, causing him to fall to the ground. Before Stella could stand up, the woman stabbed Derek with the pipe.

“NO!” Stella yelled, her eyes glowed gold, and a strong wind swept through the loft, causing the woman to falter in her movements for just a second.

A man with a white cane walked into the loft, tapping the end of it to the ground. “Everybody done?” he asked as he descended the last step. “Cause just listening to that was exhausting,” He stopped before Derek, kneeling as he folded the cane. “Let’s chat,” he said with an eerie smile. He pulled up a metal chair that was against a pillar in the loft and sat down. “Sorry about this, Derek. I asked Kali to be gentle, but-”

“This is me being gentle,” Kali said cruelly, pushing the pipe in more.

“Let-let her go,” Derek pleaded.

The blind man shooed the man holding Cora off of her, Cora moved to go to Derek, but he shook his head telling her no, causing her to stop walking. “See, we’re not unreasonable.”

“What do you want? You want to kill me?” Derek asked between pained breaths.

“You really think I’m that boring? Don’t throw me in with sociopaths like your uncle,” he spoke in a disgusted tone. “I’m a man with far more vision than simple murder. In fact,” he continued while taking his sunglasses off, “I’m here to show you just how much vision a blind man can have.” Stella noticed his red eyes and figured that’s why he wore sunglasses all the time. But seeing them glow brighter is what made a cold shiver go up her spine.

Kali pushed the pipe further into Derek, “You’re killing him!” Stella exclaimed from her spot on the frigid floor.

“Not yet, lover,” Kali told her, smirking. “But I could, who knows if it's five minutes or five hours before it's too late to take this thing out.” she turned towards the man sat in front of her and told him,  “But just to be on the safe side, Duke, you might want to get to the point.”

Stella and Cora looked at each other, sharing concerned looks. Stella looked away first when Duke started talking. “Now you see the one problem with being in an Alpha Pack. Everybody wants to make the decisions. Me? I’m more about discovering new talents, like you.” He turned towards Stella, “And you.”

“What would you need a witch for?” Stella questioned him.

“Not a witch, oh no darling, I need another emissary. I’m afraid mine might not be willing to go through with what I’ve asked of her,”

“What makes you think I’d be willing to be your emissary?”

“Well, if Derek here joins, I’m sure you won’t be far behind,”

“Not interested,” Derek told him.

“But you haven’t even heard my pitch,” Duke pouts sarcastically.

“You want me to kill my own pack,” Stella could hear him struggling to breath and all she wanted to do was help him.

“No, I want you to kill one of them. Do that, and I won’t have to ask you to kill the others. You’ll do it on your own. I did it, Ennis did, Kali did,” Stella cringed at his words. How could someone do that to their own pack, their family? She thought. “Tell him what it’s like, Kali, to kill one of your own,”

“Mmm, liberating,” she said smugly.

“Listen to me, Derek. Do you really want to stay beholden to a couple of maladjusted teenagers bound to become a liability? And believe me, they will become a liability.” He looked up at Kali, smirking, “In fact, I have a feeling one of them is getting himself into trouble right now,” Stella looked at Derek worried, she could see the giant pool of blood on the floor and the blood dripping from his mouth. She felt helpless. “See, the reason I’m always invested in new talent is simple. We all know a pack is strongest due to its individual parts.” he begins lecturing, “The stronger the individual parts, the greater the whole. When I lost my sight, one of my Betas assumed I wasn’t fit for my role anymore. He tried to take it from me. Killing him taught me something about Alphas I didn’t know they could do. His power added to mine. I became stronger, faster, more powerful than I’d ever been. I tested this new ability to subsume the power of your own by killing another one.” Stella jumped at the snap heard from him taking his cane apart, “In fact, Derek, I killed them all. I took the individual parts and became a greater individual whole.” He threw his cane out, showing it whole again. He knelt, grabbing Derek roughly by his hair pulling up. He used his other hand to feel his facial features. “You’re right, Kali. He looks like his mother,” Stella looked towards Cora, who looked away from the scene in front of her. “You’ll get to know me, Derek, like she did.”

“I know you,” Derek finally got out, blood dripping out of his mouth as he said each sentence, “I know what you are. You’re a fanatic.”

Duke walked up the steps to the desk, laying the cane down on the surface, disregarding Stella a few feet away, “Know me?” he snarls, “You’ve never seen anything like me. I am the Alpha of Alphas. I am the apex of apex predators. I AM DEATH. DESTROYER OF WORLDS. I AM THE DEMON-WOLF!” He yelled, thunder was booming, and his glasses lens cracked. Stella and Cora scurried behind the pillars near them. Kali took this as her cue to pull the pipe out of Derek, which made a painful squishing noise. “Hate it when that happens,” Duke said, walking towards Kali and Ennis. Kali dropped the pipe next to Derek and held her arm out for Duke.

Stella and Cora ran out from the pillars to Derek. Stella cradled his head and put her hand on the giant hole in his chest while Cora knelt next to his legs, watching the three Alphas walk out of the loft. “Sana,” Stella said. The wound on his back healed but wouldn’t heal on his chest.

“It’s fine,” he coughed, “It’ll heal,” The two girls lifted him to his feet, putting his arms around their shoulders and lowering him down onto his bed. Cora took his shoes off as Stella adjusted his weak body. Stella left his side and came back with a washcloth and bowl filled with water. She sat next to him and wiped the dried blood off his mouth. Gently, she moved a piece of his hair back in its place, moving her hand to cup one side of his face using her thumb to caress his cheek.

Their moment was interrupted by Stella’s phone ringing, “Hello?” she answered, setting the rag and bowl on the floor beside the bed.

“It’s Stiles. Can you meet me at the high school?”

“Why?”

“We think someone else is missing,”

Stella looked at Derek, not wanting to leave him, but before she could tell Stiles no, Derek told her, “Go, I’ll be fine, I promise,”

“Okay, I’ll be there in a few minutes,” she said, hanging up. “I’m sorry I couldn’t heal you. I don’t know why my spell didn’t work,” she told him, disappointed.

“It’s okay,” he said softly, smiling at her.

Stella said goodbye to the Hale siblings and made her way to the school, finding the music room with ease. She swore she could hear the sound of a cello getting louder with every step she took towards the room. She walked into the room as Deaton asked a redheaded girl if he could get a copy of something. “Someone's missing?” she asked, to make her presence known.

“Yeah, Lydia thinks the music teacher is gone,” Stiles answered while rummaging through a desk, “Hey, doc, any help would be, you know, helpful,”

“Each grouping of three would have its own purpose, its own type of power, virgins, healers, philosophers, warriors-” Deaton began.

“Wait, wait, wait, warrior, could that also be like a soldier?” Stiles asked with something in his hand.

“Absolutely”

Stiles showed the group the photo he was holding. A wedding photo, with the music teacher in a military uniform. “Kyle was in R.O.T.C with Boyd.”

“That’s got to be it. That’s the pattern.” Deaton confirmed. “Where’s Boyd?”

“He’s probably home by now, I’m gonna try and get him on the phone,” Stiles said, pulling his phone out.

Lydia made a face, causing everyone to look at her for clarification, “Lydia? Something wrong?” Deaton asked.

“No, I was- I mean- I just thought of someone else with a military connection.”

“Who?” Stella spoke up for the first time.

“Mr. Harris, he has the West Point Honor Code on his desk,”

The four of them got to Mr. Harris’s classroom, but no one was there. “This is just one of many possibilities. He could have simply left for the day,” Deaton suggests.

“Yeah, well, not without this,” Stiles says, holding up the teacher’s briefcase. Stiles and Lydia were searching his desk when Stiles picked up a paper looking at it strangely.

“What Stiles?” Stella asks him.

He turns the paper towards Stella and Deaton, “This test is graded ‘R’”

Deaton took the paper from Stiles when Lydia spoke up, “This ones an ‘H’”

He took the paper from Lydia, looking at the few other papers in the middle of the desk while everyone watched him. He finally laid the papers out, saying, “Stiles, you remember I told you ‘druid’ is the Gaelic word for ‘wise oak’?”

“Yeah,”

“If a druid went down the wrong path, the wise oak was sometimes said to have become a dark oak. There’s a Gaelic word for that as well. ‘Darach’” the other 3 looked at the weirdly graded tests to see them make out the word ‘darach.’

“So, we’re looking for a darach?” Stella asks.

“Yes, and I’m afraid it’s not gonna be easy to find them.” Deaton answers.

Stella walked into Scott’s room, lying face down on his bed. “Well, hello to you too,” Scott said.

Stella laughed, turning around, taking her shoes off, and leaning against his headboard, “Two more teachers are missing, the music teacher and Mr. Harris,”

“What?” he asked distraughtly.

“But we have an idea about what’s doing this. A darach, Deaton says it’s a druid who’s gone dark,”

There was a knock heard on Scott’s door, “Come in, mom.”

The door opened to reveal a soaked Isaac, “I-I was wondering if I could ask you a favor,”

“What’re you doing here?” Stella asked him.

“Derek, he uh, he kicked me out,” Isaac said sadly.

“What? Why?”

“I don't know. He just yelled at me to get out,”

“Of course you can stay here, Isaac. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a phone call to make,” Stella said angrily. Stella walked to her old room she was staying in, dialing Derek’s number. Before he could say anything, Stella said, “What happened with Isaac?”

“I had to kick him out,” Derek defended himself.

“Why? What was the problem?” She asked, “Deucalion? He got to you, didn’t he?”

“Look, Stella, it’s safer for him if he’s not here,” Derek sighed.

“I guess I didn’t think of it that way, but did you really have to kick him out in the rain?”

“I overreacted, is that what you wanted me to say?” he said chuckling.

“Maybe,” she said laughing with him.

“He’s okay, though, right? He found a place to stay?”

“Yeah, he’s gonna stay with us. How are you?”

“I healed a few minutes after you left,”

“I don’t know why my spell didn’t work.” Stella said frustrated.

“It’s okay, I healed, I’m fine now,”

“I know,” she said sighing, “Okay I’m gonna go, goodnight,”

“Goodnight Stella,”

Stella walked out of her room, ending the call. She knocked on Scott’s door to see if the boys wanted any food. They all agreed on pizza. So, while Stella was ordering and Scott was putting a movie on, Isaac was showering and putting on dry clothes. “I tried to heal Derek today, and it didn’t work,” Stella told Scott.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“Exactly what I said, I tried a healing spell, but it only healed his wound a little bit,”

“Maybe you should talk to Deaton? And tell him about your headache the night we went after Boyd and Cora,” Scott suggested.

Stella nodded agreeing with him. Something was affecting her powers. Isaac came down the stairs as the doorbell rang. Stella answered the door paying for the pizzas. As Scott got up to get plates for the pizza, Stella brought them to the living room and put them on the coffee table. Isaac stood awkwardly at the foot of the stairs, scratching the back of his neck. He finally walked towards the living room and said, “Thank you, again, for you know, letting me stay here,”

“Where else would you have gone?” Scott said, smiling and handing him a plate.

Update!

I will be posting in a few hours, I’ve been so busy today with planning my next semester and writing an essay for my psychology class I haven’t had the time to edit it one last time.

So sorry for the wait! Love you all ❤️
