"This is a nightmare": Female Inmate Speaks Out Against Trans-Identifying Male Transfers - Reduxx
Reduxx
An inmate at New Jersey’s Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women (EMCFW) is speaking out against the transfer of trans-identifying male

please read this article, it is so cruel that these women are being forced to go through this. this is state-sanctioned torture

“We feel like we are part of some sick joke. This is a nightmare that we can’t wake up from,” she added. “The women here are traumatized over and over again and it seems as if no one cares about our needs. We feel like second-class citizens with no rights.”

Not to mention that there are some incredibly deserving women who for one reason or another cannot use their own uterus to get pregnant. It's known as Absolute Uterine Factor Infertility and Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome and cervical cancer early on in adulthood are two of the leading reasons it may occur. And a few important points that people don't seem to understand:

Every successful uterus transplant thus far has involved the recipient having their own ovaries. You need ovaries in order to menstruate or get pregnant. Trans women do not have ovaries.

Almost all, if not all, of the successful births following transplant, were using uteri from women who had previously had a child. Which just makes sense. If you are going to do a complicated surgery to provide someone with a uterus that they can use to get pregnant, better to pick a uterus that has a good track record. So the idea that you can just "donate your uterus" to anyone, including trans women, because you "don't want children" is not really a thing.

We JUST performed the first successful transplantation followed by childbirth in 2014. That's not even ten years ago. This field has so much more to learn in the next few decades.

Uterus transplantation's primary focus will be helping infertile women, because our bodies already have all the rest of the gear you need to have a child. An example of this would be how the pregnancy hormone lactin prepares a female's body to begin lactation when the infant is born, producing a very specific pre-milk called colostrum. Among this substance's many benefits are boosting a neonate's immune system and helping to fight infection. (My mom, who works in a NICU, calls this substance "liquid gold" because it makes such a big difference if an infant can be provided with it). This is something that biological males, even with a uterus transplant, would not be able to produce. Everything from where are bladders are located to how our pituitary glands work are different in biological women than in biological men, and affected greatly in terms of fertility and pregnancy.

While having children is certainly a choice, there is only one sex who is able to get pregnant, because we have fucking amazing bodies that know how to build human beings. I get that men are jealous of that ability, but they can get tf over it because they will never be able to do what we can do.

What. even. I'm so sorry that any woman has ever felt that she needed to remove her body hair to look socially acceptable. I am freezing all the time in fall and winter, even with arm and leg hair, and yet we've got society out here telling women and girls that how they look is more important than their bodies having any of the proper tools for homeostasis.

Your body wants to warm up? Sorry, there's no body hair for insulation.

Your body wants to cool your head and face down by sweating? Sorry there's foundation and concealer in the way.

Your body wants to stop infectious pathogens from getting through your skin barrier into your bloodstream? Sorry the skin's natural oils and body hair have been exfoliated and shaved away so that the skin can be "baby smooth" instead.

Your body wants to fight off an infection? Sorry that requires calories for energy, and how is anyone supposed to have a hot girl summer if they are eating extra calories?

talking abt body hair on women makes me FERAL

im the only woman in my immediate circle that doesn't shave my ARMS. my ARMS!!!!!!!

not even getting into legs and pits which im opinionated on. we cant have ANY hair huh!!!!!!! not even arm fluff! why!!!!!!!! who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all women stop shaving for a while and look at each other in public and see that you are Normal challenge please please please we are ouroborosing ourselves

What really gets me is that they won't call her a mother, but then they go and refer to her female child as "daughter". Damn hypocrites.

I have not read the whole article yet, and I'm not defending the hospital in any way, shape, or form, but I do wonder if the whole "specimen" comment had to do with age of viability. The age of viability is generally considered to be around 22 weeks and has stayed right around there for the past two decades. My sister was born in 2003 at 22 weeks 4 days gestation. Today, an Alabama boy holds the record for the most premature baby to survive. Curtis Means was born 132 days premature on July 5, 2020 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham when the mother was 21 weeks and one day pregnant. There are plenty of other stories out there about women who had a stillborn child or a child who died soon after delivery at 18 to 19 weeks gestation, and the hospital refused to give them a birth or death certificate because, according to the CDC, they had only suffered a miscarriage, or their baby was of "previable age".

I don't think this is an ethical or healthy practice, because it dehumanizes infants and mothers alike, but it should be known that it is not a one-off situation.
