Thinking about Dan Heng the first time Blade ever found him

It's been a while since he first left the Xianzhou but he's still young, still relatively inexperienced

He doesn't know what's happening yet, hasn't yet made it into a dark and twisted kind of routine

He’s woken up in the middle of the night to alarms blaring, runs out of his bunk to see what’s happening, and sees an implacable man with monstrous eyes, striding down the corridor with purpose and cutting down any guards or crew who try to get into his way. It’s a face he doesn’t recognize, yet is so sickeningly familiar.

The man looks up and locks eyes with his true target. His face twists into a bloodthirsty grin, and in the blink of an eye he lunges forward with his sword. Dan Heng just barely manages to summon Cloud-Piercer in time to deflect his first attack.

The spear never leaves his side after that.
