I don’t have a drawing for today’s prompt, but I did design the sidebar for the @ectoberhaunt blog! Good to be back for this role this year.

the internet is an inherently haunted place if you think about it like. it's so weird to see long abandoned discussion boards stuck in a snapshot of the past, old conversations between kids from over a decade ago who have now grown into their own lives, obituaries taking the form of half finished profiles. and the silence that fills the gaps between. there's a constant ghostly record of each generation's thoughts, fads, their sense of humour. back when the future was at their fingertips. even stranger, people you used to know exist openly in that space, and they watch you watching them. if you want, deceased musicians can play through your headphones. there's always an underlying sense of reminiscing and time escaping our ever shortening attention spans. what a fuckin graveyard

I said this in another post, but it bears repeating:

Neil is to crime what Andrew is to Exy. Supernaturally talented and unstoppable if he wanted, but due to his general lack of interest nerfs himself.

Everyone should be grateful Neil finds crime boring and uninteresting compared to Exy cause he would have been the Kevin Day of crime, surpassing his father and mother. Nora confirmed in the EC that if the Moriyamas had messed with Andrew, Neil would have carefully and competently dismantled their empire and watched all of them burn. He was practically lab created and stress tested his whole life to fight, outlive, and outsmart criminal masterminds.

My headcannon is Ichirou is secretly relieved that Nathaniel just wants to play stick ball.

I feel like I've overlooked this passage every time I see it. Did Jeremy's sibling kill themselves? Did they play exy? Did they die at the banquet?

Cat Winced BUT kept her eyes on Jean. She reacted directly to what Jeremy said. She. KNOWS WHAT IS UP.

When someone kills themselves, it has to be assumed a homicide as protocol (ask me how I know 😀) so family members or those in the immediate vicinity will be interviewed by police and any items at the scene that should be tested for fingerprints and stuff will be. That could be how Jeremy knows the police.

Suicides are so taboo still. For a rich politically affiliated macho family they'd be even more taboo, and in 2007? Christ no wonder he doesn't talk about it.

And of COURSE his mother would send him to therapy after THAT. Did he find the body of his sibling? Was he supposed to be with them but went to an exy banquet instead?

AND. Suicides totally break up families!! Christ, my family hasn't been the same for seven years. I'm basically estranged from my older brother because we were so busy trying to survive our trauma we stopped asking about each other's lives.

I'm, like, KINDA SOLD ON THIS THEORY RN.

"you're the writer, you control how the story goes" no not really. i wrote the first sentence and then my characters said "WE WILL TAKE IT FROM HERE" and promptly swerved into an electrical fence.

It’s important that you all know that vampires can in-fact be filmed. Cameras are not mirrors and vampires have reflections in modern mirrors anyway.

Figuring out if that one person is a vampire or just goth is harder than that.
