“I don’t trust you anymore, Belphegor.” Weak and broken. Resigned. A voice too tired to pretend. A voice too small to be pretend.

You are so, so tired. Belphie can see it in your eyes (the bags underneath speak—no, scream volumes. Agony and anguish weigh down on your shoulders like the weight of Lilith’s limp body on his all those millennia ago. He wishes he could save you, but how can he dare when he was the one to have put you in this position?) and there is grief violently ripping and tearing into his heart hearing you so drained and defeated. The spark known as you has diminished and extinguished and Sloth knows he has no one to blame but himself.

“I’m sorry.” You add. An afterthought. A sick sense of amusement finds its way into him, presenting itself in the metallic tang on his tongue and the taste of bile in his throat. How ironic, that you are the one to apologize, after everything he has put you through.

How ironic, that after everything he put you through, his anger at you outweighs his shame.

“Are you serious? It’s been months since I…since that happened. I thought we moved past that, or are you still that hung up on the past?” He spits his words out with a nonchalant yet scathing venom, the shame in him burning but still not as hot as the angered entitlement he feels. He…did that, sure. But have his brothers not threatened and attempted the same? Yet because of his success he is punished. (He refuses to acknowledge the difference between failure and success in this case. He doesn’t think he can bear it if he does.) Did his immediate regret mean nothing to you? Has he not done enough? He wants the normalcy you have with the rest of his brothers. He wants what you had with him, before he was freed from the attic. The thought that he may never get that refuels his annoyance and suddenly any regret he feels over his confrontation is burnt to a crisp in the flames of distress.

“I never thought you would be that petty, Bug.” A term of endearment weaponized against you and you cannot understand why you ever thought you could learn to love him.

(The youngest has always gotten his way, you belatedly realize. He will never apologize, not when his sins have always been forgiven without a second thought. The sentiment is bitter in your throat.)

You are silent for a moment, unsure what to say, and for a moment Belphegor thinks you may finally understand. He thinks you might have started to see it his way.

But then you laugh. You laugh and it is jagged, and sharp, and vile. It is broken and crackly and filled with all the things you could never say to his face. Mockery and resentment cloud the room and the worst part is you can’t tell who it’s coming from. Sloth’s brattiness has always been his trademark, and yet you begin to realize it’s one of the many things you cannot stand about him.

“I’m sorry, is being upset over you killing me that unreasonable?” (He flinches, and a sick sense of satisfaction fills you.) You are raw and hurting and regret clouds the both of you. Him for his audacity and you for ever thinking of forgiving the man standing before you. “I apologize, my lord, but usually, for mere fucking humans like me, we only die once.” Your smile is sharp and predatory, and for once, Belphie feels like he is the prey.

“Being brought back to life doesn’t change the fact that I died because of you, Sloth. I still remember you killing me. I still remember seeing my dead body. (Your voice cracks and so does his heart.) Sort of a mindfuck if you can try and understand.” (He knows you doubt him and his empathy from your tone alone and that stings in a place he didn’t think he could be hurt in anymore.) You are hot and flaming and burning to a crisp and like a moth to a flame, Sloth keeps flying to his doom.

“You aren’t a regular human though, are you? After all, you came back. It’s annoying to see you so quick to blame me when my brothers have basically done the same.” His voice is calm, but his head is anything but. Voices in his mind scream for him to go further; to bite and tear until there is nothing left of you, yet his heart and soul plead and beg for him to get on his knees and pray for forgiveness. But when has anything good been done when he listened to himself? The last time he did (“let her love, Belphegor.”) he made the biggest mistake of his life. (The arrow pierces from her chest out through her wings and he realizes with horror that he was the one chosen to be saved instead. He was the one who had caused Lilith to bleed gold until ichor turned to inky tar and Lucifer had given up his freedom to give her another life away from them all.) And Belphie realizes he is scared because he can’t lose another one. He can’t lose another member of his family. He can’t lose you.

But Belphegor’s always been one to speak first and think later and his words cut deep when he says, “Then again, if it weren’t for Lilith, you wouldn’t even be here, would you? So do you really belong here, or are you just a placeholder for someone you can’t even begin to replace?”

There is silence, and then there is a stare, and Belphie feels like he’s losing Lilith all over again with the way life leaves your eyes.

“I think you should go, Belphie.” Your voice is dull and empty and Belphie wishes that he never spoke. He wishes you were still looking at him with hatred and resentment because he feels like he’s killed you again and his breath is picking up and oh, Father, what did he do?

“Bug, I-“

“Leave, Belphegor.” You stare at the wall behind him as your pact activates. When he shuts the door behind him you slowly stumble over to your bed and sit down.

Sloth always knew how to break you in the worst of ways, and from opposite sides of a wall, you both break down from the knowledge of it.

The Other Exchange Student?!

Synopsis: MC is thriving in the human world after the exchange program, when they hear a name they haven't heard in a LONG time

A.N. - Hello hello hello! It's me, the author of that "Bring Diaval Back Home" post! As self-proclaimed leader of the #BringDiavalBackHomeAgenda, I decided to take it upon myself to feed all Diaval-lovers with a fic about the dear demon. Diaval, you will not be forgotten 😭 Let me know if y'all want more Diaval content in the future because I wrote this while tired af and I'm not sure if it's up to standard alskjdlaskdja

The Other Exchange Student?!

[5:00 PM]

The NBSC Convention. One of the world's biggest international winter gatherings of tech geniuses and aspiring game-changers, all in the thriving mini-city of a convention hall, Jump Center. Large flashing billboards with colorful promotion videos lit up the arena in every direction you looked. People swarmed the spacious hall, fawning over robots, software displays, new computer models, and the latest architectural innovations.

You were standing in the future of mankind, in the most concentrated amalgam of ideas and excitement. You worked at the leading air-tech giant, Crandy, in New Tokyo after graduating from the exchange student program at RAD. As the leading engineer that came up with the ground-breaking discovery that landed you here in the convention, you were assigned to represent Crandy during the presentation.

You smoothed out your sleeve cuffs, a pleasant wine red shade to match the snug tie you had somehow gotten used to walking around in within months of working at Crandy. The white silk dress shirt seemed to become tighter as the minutes ticked by, the presentation window getting closer. You recalled how your secretary fretted over your outfit, emphasizing the importance of formal accessories.

You absentmindedly fiddled with the buttons on your cuffs, catching the wafting fragrance of strawberry bonbons from the perfume your aforementioned secretary had liberally sprayed (or drowned, rather) you with. You could almost feel your heart pounding inside your throat, ready to jump out at a moment's notice. Your hands were cold and dry; you could almost feel the blood pulsing within your fingertips. Taking a few deep breaths, you rocked back and forth in your shoes, relishing in the clicking noises the heels made against the glossy floor.

You'd come so far, from being an average student in literal hell, to tangling with demons and angels, and finally, pushing through university and coming out on top as one of the best employees Crandy had ever hired. Barbatos had known you'd be successful. "A little push towards excellence is all it takes," the royal butler had reminded you after pulling you aside from the others, on the day before you returned to the human world.

You wondered how everyone was back in the Devildom. Of course, you'd be visiting them next month anyways, but it had been a while since you last heard from them. A week, rather. Which was a little strange, consider how often how often the brothers would call and text you, showering you with notifications at any giving hour of the day. Perhaps they were busy? You COULD do with a few words of encouragement from them, to ease your frazzled nerves.

Maybe you were just experiencing pre-premiere jitters. You'd do perfectly fine during the presentation; you always did, never performing any less than what your 200% could bring to the table.

"Laksjdlaksjdlakjsdlakjsdlkajsldkjas" is what you'd say if you could vocally express how nervous you were, but that was probably Levi's thing. You had facetimed Solomon just moments before; he'd jokingly compared you to "a wolf in sheep's clothing", but you knew it was his back-handed way of reassuring you. He firmly believed that your ideas and inventions would blow all the competition off the counter.

The call had calmed you down a little, and you put on your best smile, complimenting all the other representatives at the convention while whispering words of encouragement. The more friends (read: investments) and allies you made here, the better. You'd heard all the excited gossip about Crandy's secret trump card (you), and it would serve you well to gain the audience's favor.

You glanced at the giant green holographic clock floating in the corner of the hall; half an hour until your presentation. There was no backing out now. Not even if you had to miss out on Taco Tuesday.

Especially if you had to miss out on Taco Tuesday.

You cleared your throat, taking a few deep breaths to calm your racing heart down. Well, crap. What you had believed to be the intial audience was just the group of early-birds at the convention, as you watched hundreds of people start to pour in; the NBSC was going to be REALLY packed this year.

You were so caught up in fretting over how your presentation would go, that you almost didn't notice the two men passing by. The taller of the two wore a light blue suit and had tousled brown hair with blue eyes and the brightest grin you had ever seen; for a moment, you almost swore you could see a halo floating above his head. The other man had black hair so dark, it seemed to absorbing the light around him. He had a jaded smile tugging at the corners of his lips in permanent, mordant glee.

"Ah, if it isn't MC!" The taller man exclaimed cheerfully. You snapped your neck up to look at the men walking towards you; they seemed oddly familiar.

"...Michael?" You asked hesitantly, trying to recall Luke's descriptions of the seraphim he adored so much. The man nodded vigorously, looking extremely pleased to have been recognized. You looked at the other man, who barely seemed to acknowledge you. "And who's this?" you asked, tilting your head. He looked up, barely sparing you a glance before going back to tapping away on a...wait, was that a Blackberry???

How throwback-ish of you, unfamiliar-but-cinnamon-roll-esque-demon-man.

"This is Diaval!" Michael exclaimed matter-of-factly, as if that was supposed to clear everything up.

The name rang a bell. A very, very distant bell on top of a tower in a secluded village, but a loud enough bell, nonetheless. Diaval...?

"Wait, Diaval as in the demon exchange student?"

The other man's head snapped up immediately.

"How...do you know me?" he asked, expression wary. His eyes narrowed on your form, and the arm that was holding the Blackberry lowered to rest at his side.

"Didn't you know, Diaval? This is MC, the human exchange student that went to the Devildom when you came to the human world!" Michael explained, his voice tinged with obvious mirth. Your eyebrows furrowed.

"Uh, Michael if you don't mind me asking...how did you meet Diaval?" You glanced at Diaval, attempting to soften your gaze. In return, his expression became less guarded, as if coming to a mutual agreement with you.

"Well I had a meeting with Diavolo and we decided that I should supervise Diaval in the human world since there was no substantial human authority to watch over him." Michael provided.

"That makes sense...but what are you guys doing at a tech convention?" You inquired, slightly laughing.

"Well the human world is significantly advanced with its technology...I suppose it has something to do with trying to utilize a short life to the fullest. It's actually quite common for demons and angels to visit and invest in rising businesses," The archangel gestured to the entire hall. "Diaval wanted to experience the human world a bit more before returning to the Devildom next month, so I thought it would be a good idea to bring him here with me!"

"Awww, that's very sweet of you!" You smiled at Michael.

"Oh, uh thanks..." he said, chuckling nervously and turning his attention to a booth nearby, becoming extremely interested in the brochures splayed across the table. You turned to the demon, who seemed slightly uncomfortable with the sudden lack of angel himbo energy.

"Hi Diaval, my name's MC!" You extended a hand, and he shook it firmly. "I'm going to be visiting the Devildom in a month as well, and it doesn't seem like Michael is going to be in charge for a while," You glanced at the seraphim, who was talking with the CEO of another tech company. "So...why don't we go around the convention together? A human showing you the human experience, how about it?"

"You'd do that?" Diaval's eyes seem to light up.

"Of course! It was getting kind of boring, waiting for my speech. This is more than a welcome distraction!" You chirped, waving an arm in the air to let Michael know that the two of you were going to explore

.

the convention hall. You led Diaval to a booth that was holding a mini-presentation about holographic displays, aircraft and security systems.

"Y'know, a hellhound would've been so much more effective-" He mumbled under his breath, eyes fixated on a defense drone as it rose into the air and hovered over the crowd's heads.

"But can a hellhound deliver pizza to your door?" You countered, staring at the drone, which was now flying in lazy circles near a couple banners. Diaval snorted, picking up a pamphlet about 'the future of mankind!'. There were about twenty such 'future of mankind!'s in the room, and you were sure Barbatos would have a field day deducing which ones would succeed.

You proceeded to show Diaval VR gaming, self-building houses and sentient robots. Suffice to say, the demon was unsettled by the prospect of that last one.

"Robots that can walk and talk...of their own volition? Isn't that a little risky?" he asked apprehensively.

"Um well we have considered the possible unemployment that robot-run jobs could cause. Oh, and there's always the threat of robots taking over the world and killing all human life-" Diaval stared at you, horrified. You chuckled and patted him on the shoulder. "Don't worry, we've got it under control. Give them intelligence, but not too much."

You glanced at the green holographic clock again.

Crap.

"Diaval, buddy, I'm gonna have to leave you for a second there, I have a speech in three minutes and I have to be all the way in the west wing of the hall." You turned around and started for the podium, pushing past the numerous people in front of you. You almost didn't notice Diaval right on your heels, seperating the crowd for you with sharp 'excuse-me's, and you could almost hear a hint of demonic Infernal in his voice. You lost sight of him when you reached the auditorium doors, and made a mental note to look for him after your presentation.

You slipped in through the backstage entrance and arrived at the stage wing just in time for the host to announce your name. You walked up the steps and stood in from of the podium stand. A quick glance over the crowd, and you spotted both Michael and Diaval, standing together near the front of the audience. You flashed them a smile, before clearing your throat and adjusting the microphone to address the hall.

.

.

.

.

Amidst the applause and buzz of excitement that had arose after your little speech about Crandy's ground-breaking discovery, you walked offstage, being congratulated by people from all directions. You somehow made it back to the main hall without being ambushed by "investors". You craned your neck, peering over the crowd to look for the seraphim and demon.

You felt a tap on the back, and turned around to see the demon and seraphim in question.

"MC, that was amazing! Did you really come up with all of that?" Michael asked in awe. You nodded, grinning.

"You looked more confident than most of the humans I've met here," Diaval remarked. "That was a great speech."

"Thanks! Oh, since it seems like we're all done here, why don't we go get something to eat? I'm STARVING." You suggested. The two nodded, and you headed outside, towards a cafe near the convention center. "Wait here!"

You briskly walked to the cafe, pushing past the intricately carved door handle and letting the smell of baked goods wash over you. You ordered a box-dozen of large cookies, warm inside the cardboard box that you now clutched as you walked back to the convention center benches. The sky was darker, and street lamps began to illuminate the paths as people passed by, walking in groups or individually. The fountains lining the entrance were now flashing with lights of different colors, flooding the pavilion with shades of blue, purple and white.

"So," you started, sitting down and handing Michael and Diaval the box of cookies. "How have you two been? The last I heard of you, Michael, was when you were rushing off to fix some kind of irrigation problem in the Celestial Realm. I think we were supposed to meet, but I never got the chance." You laughed, carefully picking up a large chocolate-chip cookie wrapped in a gold napkin.

"You know," Michael waved a hand around. "Same old, same old. The Celestial Realm is quite uneventful. I'm quite fond of Diavolo's whole 'exchange program to unite the three realms' plan. It gives me something to focus on!"

"Yeah, the program was fun. What about you, Diaval? How do you like the human world?" You bit into the cookie, and let the chocolate-y warmth seep into your mouth, the sweet flavor numbing any discomfort you might've been feeling.

"It was alright. I learned a lot about humans and the 'slanguage', their customs, and...TikTok."

"Oh."

"...'Oh' indeed. Are all human adolescents like that?"

"No, no that's just a minor percentage of the population! Don't generalize the entire human race, it would be like me assuming all demons were violent like Belph- I mean, like murderous and stuff."

"Um...is pumpkin spice actually made of spicy pumpkins?"

"It's nutmeg and cinnamon!"

"Okay, I officially hate Caden now. I was afraid to try it because he told me that it was made out of spicy pumkins, and not even the Devildom has atrocities like spicy pumpkins." Diaval looked into the distance while nibbling on the chocolate chips of the cookie, probably remembering the horrors of the 'spicy pumpkins'.

"Both of you went through pretty similar experiences, do you two know that?" Michael interjected, taking a large bite out of his cookie. You and Diaval gave him strange looks. "What? MC was a human alone in the Devildom and Diaval, you were a demon alone in the human world. I don't know about the brothers or Simeon and Luke, but the two of you are essentially the center of this program."

"That's true. So does that make us co-ambassadors?" Diaval asked, glancing at you.

"Hmm, I never thought about it that way. I guess it does!" You simultaneously perked up and internally cringed at the thought of being the ambassador for the entire human world to the Devildom and Celestial Realm. You quietly watched Diaval and Michael as they talked.

The demon seemed to be doing just fine in the human world, and you wondered if it was unfair that he didn't have to go through almost getting killed five times and nearly tearing the three realms apart with his existence. Diaval must've felt so homesick though, staying away from the

.

Devildom and bound by the weird societal rules of the human world. You didn't notice the fond smile that had formed on your lips, as you watched Diaval animatedly describing all the things you had showed him at the convention. Somehow, you were proud of him.

There was no way he could've been lonely. He must've made tons of friends during his stay here. Who wouldn't want to be friends with Diaval? He seemed like such a chill demon, and you could be sure he hadn't gone on several rage-filled rampages while in demon form unlike CERTAIN avatars of sin.

"Diavolo must trust you a lot, huh?" The words slipped out of your mouth before you could stop yourself. Diaval gave you a curious look.

"I mean, I guess. When I came here, I didn't even have Michael looking after me. It was just me and the weird human boarding school."

"I see. When I first arrived in the Devildom, he had Lucifer and his brothers watch over me. It was overwhelming in the first few weeks I was there, heh."

Diaval exhaled sharply. "The demon lords?"

"Yep! Sometimes I still can't believe I managed to make pacts with them. I mean, I thought Lucifer just made you up to cover up for the fact that Belphegor was...um, actually I forgot what I was going to say-"

"Wait, wait, wait, hold on. You made pacts with the demon lords? ALL of them?" Diaval's tone was one of disbelief.

"Well, yeah..." You rolled up your left sleeve to reveal two of the brothers' pact marks. Diaval's eyes widened at the sight of the glowing sigils on your arm.

"Damn, that's so cool-"

"I didn't make them under a contract or anything, there was this whole thing with Belpheg-" You caught yourself just in time. Gee, that was the THIRD time you almost spilled the tea to Diaval. Great going MC, real smooth. "Y'know what, let's talk about something else! Do you think you'll miss the human world when you go back?"

"The human world's cool and all, but I think I like home better. I don't particularly feel any regrets about leaving, but that's probably because I can come back whenever I want. It's not like the human world's going anywhere, right?"

"Right."

"Well, it's time for me to get going!" Michael stood up, finishing his cookie and brushing the crumbs off of his face with the gold napkin. "Hey MC, since you're going back at the same time as Diaval, why don't you two stay together until next month? I won't always be around to keep an eye on you two, and I'm sure there's lots of the human world Diaval hasn't seen yet! Show him around for me, won't you?"

"I'd be glad to!" You looked at Diaval, anticipating his response. To your pleasant surprise, he nodded and smiled.

"Sure, why not? MC can probably give me a tour of the city, isn't that right MC?"

"Yeah!"

And with that, Michael bid the two of you farewell before heading off for the Celestial Realm.

.

.

.

.

You sat in your car, hands resting on the steering wheel as you waited for the stoplight to turn green. Diaval was preoccupied, staring out the window, perhaps enjoying the last views of the evening downtown hustle.

"Was it hard?" You asked in the middle of your thoughts. Diaval raised an eyebrow, confused. "The whole 'getting used to the human world' thing, I mean."

"Oh, um...kinda. You humans do things so differently here, I had to be really careful not to accidentally offend someone or get into any fights."

"Yeah, that wouldn't reflect on the exchange program very well now, would it?" You grinned, tapping the steering wheel with your index fingers as you exited onto the freeway. "So did you get into any fights?"

"I totally did not get into a single fight in the human world, nope."

You levelled your best disbelieving stare at Diaval, who appeared composed for the first few seconds, but crumbled immediately afterwards. "Okay, okay, I did get into ONE fight, but the dude was practically asking for it. Tried to break one of my horns and everything!"

You laughed, and Diaval seemed to loosen up a little, realizing that you weren't going to berate him. "I'm guessing you won, huh?"

"If you consider 'default victory by opponent death' a win, then I guess yeah."

You nearly slammed down on the brakes. "You KILLED HIM?!" Your eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as your attention flitted between the road and Diaval, who was now shrinking into the passenger seat, looking wronged.

"Hey, hey, before you go jumping to conclusions, I wasn't the one responsible for his death! We were on a field trip to this canyon and he fell off all by himself. He wasn't even paying attention to where he was going! I did punch him once or twice though-"

"...So you punched him and he died?"

"He didn't die BECAUSE I punched him, he died after zig-zagging across the canyon and yeeting himself off the edge."

"Oooo-kay..."

"Don't tell Diavolo."

"Alright-"

"What about you though? You mentioned Lord Belphegor like three times and then changed the subject. What's up with that?"

You sat up straighter and pursed your lips. "Diaval, buddy-boy-old-pal-dear-friend of mine, you are in for THE story now because you asked for it, so sit tight and let me tell you about the time when..."

On the drive all the way back to your house, you explained to Diaval how you ended up making pacts with six out of seven of the demon brothers in order to free Belphegor, who was locked up in the attic for threatening to ruin the program with human genocide and how he killed you when you set him free, but you somehow didn't die, and then you helped mend the bond between the brothers and made a pact with the last brother.

Diaval was silent for a few moments, processing all the information. "Wow...that's a lot to take in. But did you really forgive Lord Belphegor?" He looked at you pensively, as if trying to gauge your reaction. He posed a good question; had you forgiven Belphegor? The thought left a bittersweet taste in your mouth.

"I guess I didn't really have a choice, since everything happened so quickly. It was almost like everyone pretended nothing even happened. But Belphie changed his ways, and I think he deserves to be forgiven."

"Would you have forgiven him if he hadn't changed?"

A lump formed in your throat as you thought about it.

"I...would." Diaval's eyes widened. "For the first few months of the exchange program, I didn't really think I would survive, so I kinda expected it. I mean, when I looked into his eyes, all I saw was centuries of anguish and loss...I somewhat understood why he would do something like that." Your grip tightened on the steering wheel. "But! My human life is too short to hold grudges anyways! I don't really know if things would've come this far if I hadn't forgiven him, though."

"I'm sorry, I probably asked a really personal question-"

"Nah, you're good buddy. You're actually the only person that wanted to know how I felt about the whole ordeal."

"Are you serious? Not a single one of those demon brothers even asked you

.

how you were?"

"I think they were too overwhelmed by the fact that I was descended from their late sister. I don't hold it against them, though." You exhaled, smiling again. "Everything sorted itself out at the end of the exchange program, so all's well that ends well, I guess!"

"Wait, the end of the exchange program? Isn't it still going on?"

"...No? It ended like a year ago-"

"Oh. So they forgot about me?" The slightly dejected tone in Diaval's voice made you look away from the road. You placed a reassuring hand on his back out of consolation.

"I didn't forget about you! I was wondering what happened to you because Belphegor didn't go to the human world. If it makes you feel less alone in your disappointment, I think most of my friends here forgot me too."

"We're similar in more aspects than most would think, then."

"Exactly! Me, a non-magical human in the middle of the Devildom, and you, a demon in the middle of the human world. We probably experienced things most of our races couldn't even DREAM of seeing. We're like two-thirds of the whole plan to unite the three realms!"

"When you put it that way, I guess we're special."

"Definitely. I made friends with a lot of demons, and you've made a lot of human friends as well!"

"About that..."

"Yeah?"

"I'm only telling you this because I can trust you not to snitch, but...there's this human I like. His name's Caden."

"The guy who you said you hated because he told you pumpkin spice was made out of spicy pumpkins?"

"The spicy pumpkins guy, yes. I don't actually hate him, though. He's infuriating at times, that's a given, but I find him...endearing. I want to...spend the rest of my time with him. He stuck by my side throughout high school, and despite being weaker than me, never hesitated to help me with rather bizarre situations. I can trust him, and he makes me happy."

You nearly squealed in excitement and scared the bejeezus out of Diaval. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS, DIAVAL??? That's a sign of a bond between two realms!!! This is great news!! Go tell him you like him, if you haven't already! Diavolo's going to be so happy when he hears about this!"

"But what about you, MC? Have you found your own 'bond between two realms' yet?"

You could feel your face heating up, and it wasn't from the 'Diaval has a boyfriend!' excitement. Diaval took note of this and leaned in, grinning. "There IS someone, isn't there?"

"I haven't thought about it."

"You have."

"Maybe-"

"Definitely."

"We're HOME, let's go INSIDE, it's getting LATE-"

"Okay, okay, I won't pry!"

.

.

.

.

A month had passed by quickly, and you and Diaval had bonded over many random 2 AM trips to McDonalds, extremely heated 'Just Dance' battles, snowball fights, watching cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies and catching up on the latest tea on 'Entertainment Tonight'. Your gallery, which was full of pictures with the demon brothers, quickly filled with goofy pictures of Diaval's shenanigans related to some new human custom that he swore was 'essential to the ex-exchange program', with Michael and Caden, The Human Boyfriend featuring in many of the wacky selfies.

It was time for you to visit the Devildom once again, and time for Diaval to return home for the first time in two years. It was a tearful farewell, and your heart clenched as you watched Diaval and Caden say goodbye to each other. Michael was going through the whole waterworks, dramatically bringing his hands up to wipe his tears. How did that man manage to make crying look poetic?

"Oh dear, they grow up so fast...it makes me so emotional-"

"Michael, sir, he is a whole ass grown demon-"

"We're even all dressed up, it feels like a movie..."

"Mike-"

Diaval sighed as he looked back at the empty park. "Man, I think I'm actually gonna miss the human world."

"Don't worry about it. You can come back whenever you want! Like you said, it's not like the human world's going anywhere, right?" You reassured him. The park was silent, save for the chirping of a few birds that hadn't migrated south. The snow seemed to muffle the sounds of the city with a blanket of white, falling even slower than before. You exhaled, a few puffs of smoke rising into the air in lazy circles.

"I was just bluffing when I said that. I'm not completely sure if I'll actually be able to come back here anymore."

"I'll pitch in a word with Diavolo about letting you visit the human world frequently! Hell, I can even ask him to let you stay here...if that's what you want." Diaval looked at you, surprised.

"You'd do that for me?"

"You'll be surprised what favors I can pull as the inter-realm ambassador."

"...Thanks, MC."

"Anything for a co-ambassador...and a friend."

"We really did come this far, huh? It's not an easy feat, bringing the three realms closer like this. Lord Diavolo would be proud of you."

"Lord Diavolo would be proud of us. You had no lesser hand in making his dream come true. In making OUR dream come true. I'll look forward to saving the universe and kicking ass with you, Diaval." You took the demon's hand in both of yours and shook it firmly, just like how you had done the first time the two of you met.

Before the two of you stepped into the dark purplish portal, he turned to face you, a smile full of promises on his face.

"Likewise, MC."

Mammon deserves to have someone who misses him when he’s away.

Imagine: Mammon’s not home for the week. He’s away, doing photoshoots or dealing with witches or whatever it is he does. His brothers are just chilling as usual. This is nothing to even blink at, much less be upset about.

But MC? Nope! He’s their Mammon, and they love him so much!

Imagine MC turning to the side where Mammon usually is, automatically going to whisper some dumb comment to him, and then deflating when they find no Mammon there. Imagine MC absentmindedly reaching their hand out to that side, going to hold his hand out of habitual impulse—and being confused for a moment to find empty air… then hiding their sadness. Imagine them distracting themself by hanging out with all the others, who they DO love a lot, but… Mammon’s not there, and the house feels incomplete. They’ve spent lots of time with the others without Mammon before, but he’s never been away so long before, and everything feels wrong.

Imagine Mammon’s reaction to his brothers (probably Asmo, to tease him, or Beel, out of sympathy for the human) texting him to tell him that the human’s moping without him. Imagine them catching MC doing one of those things on camera, because Mammon has to see it to really believe that someone misses him so much.

Imagine Mammon coming home, and the human regaining their energy just at the sound of his voice announcing that he’s back. Imagine them running to the door, pouncing on him for hugs with such excitement that he TOTALLY would have been knocked to the floor if he weren’t supernaturally strong, being a demon.

“You’re home!!!!” MC shouts, not bothering to contain their excitement because they love him, they’re so happy to be reunited, they missed him so much, and he deserves to see that. It’s good for him.

Imagine how happy he’d be to get a reaction like that

Imagine Mammon and MC inevitably ending up in MC’s room, as they always do, and Mammon seeing that MC has stolen the blanket off his bed. It’s in a messy pile on top of their own blanket, it looks like MC had been curled up under it just before he returned. Because it smells like him, and it’s warm and soft and big, so it’s the closest thing to a hug from him that they could have gotten while he was away.

Imagine how his heart would melt. Imagine how loved he would feel.

Idk, I think he’d cry

Ok so:

Ok So:

Where is our main man Diaval??? Why hasn't he come back after one year of the exchange program? Poor demon went off to the human world all by himself and???

I need a spinoff of Diaval's misadventures (you cannot tell me he didn't accidentally try eating a poor high schooler's soul at least once during his time there) in the human world.

I need to see him discover tiktok and pumpkin spice and parades and just have wholesome moments with his human friends at some random public high school.

Imagine he comes back and him and MC see each other and the two of them are just:

Ok So:

They'd click instantly, I tell you. Imagine Diaval having his own harem; parallels, parallels, parallels.

Diaval: Humans are so fragile...I punched one and they died, and you're telling me you survived an entire YEAR here??? Damn, you gotta be one tough cookie!

MC: Sorry, you WHAT-

Diaval:

Ok So:

Don't tell me they WOULDN'T bond over their experiences in different realms. MC helping Diaval with human customs and traditions and Diaval helping MC with some of the weirder aspects of the Devildom that they missed. They'd hype each other up like:

Ok So:

I NEED DIAVAL AND MC INTERACTION AAAAAA

(Extra: the brothers hanging out with Diaval, because he's picked up a lot of human behaviors and he reminds them of MC)

Obsessed with the implications of poly!MC falling under a sleeping curse. Antidote, of course, being true love's kiss.

And true love exists in every type of relationship (look at Maleficent and her motherly kiss to Aurora), but I think the brothers and/or the rest of the cast would only see it as romantic.

All of them want to be the first to kiss MC, so sure of being their one true love, but since they all love them with such a deep force, it wouldn't matter who's the one kissing them, MC would still wake up. It's true love.

Now, I think the one to actually give the first and, consequently, only kiss, would be either Lucifer or Diavolo. It depends on how big the poly relationship is. If poly!MC is dating everyone, like the bad bitch they are, Diavolo would for sure take advantage of his position as future ruler. However, if it's only the brothers, Lucifer would use the privilege of being the oldest.

Mammon could be the first if he cheats and kisses them before anyone notices. "The Great Mammon, your first" and all that.

What are the implications, you may ask? Well, just imagine. Imagine the heartbreak of sharing the love of your life with your family, your best friend, your master or servant, only for your lover not to reciprocate your deepest feeling.

MC may love them, but they're not MC's one true love; at least, according to the sleeping curse.

How much would Satan or Belphie hate their older brother? How much would Levi hate himself? Would Diavolo and Lucifer's friendship suffer? At what extent?

And how fucking funny would it be to have Luke kissing MC's forehead, that kiss being the one that wakes them up?
