So Fern canonically is in a family that lives a very naturey lifestyle which explains the fairy grunge type style but yeah his parents are against buying clothes from mainstream clothing shops but they also don't stop Fern because they don't want him getting bullied. Fern still goes barefoot though to still kinda keep the lifestyle they've grew up with. If I'm misinformed please correct me on the crunchy lifestyle.
