Ok Question For The Witch/pagan Side Of Tumblr. So You Know How God-spouses Are A Thing Some People Believe

Ok question for the witch/pagan side of tumblr. So you know how god-spouses are a thing some people believe in. Is there a parent/child version of that? Like is there such thing as a type of practice where the devotee sees their god as their parent/ god sees the devotee as a child? Like surely that a thing that at least someone does. I just had the thought the other day and couldn’t find anything through googling it and wondered is any more experienced witches/pagans who have heard of something like that.

Something I’ve thought of recently is that despite being used as a joke most of the time, the ‘woman not ordering food and then stealing her partners food’ trope definitely has links to the way society treats women and girls when it comes to food aka misogyny. From a very young age girls are told to watch their figure, to watch what they eat, to be delicate, to be polite, to not be a burden, so it then makes sense that when out on dates it’s hardwired into woman’s very beings that if their going to eat infront of a guy that she needs to eat something healthy so that he doesn’t think she’s fat, that she should get something cheap so she is t a burden, that she should get something that society deems feminine. But that means that she ends up ordering something that isn’t really filling or satisfying so she’s more likely to try to steal a few chips. And even with a man that she is super comfortable with, who she knows doesn’t care about all the things society has told her he should care about there is still that instinct to cater to what society says he should care about. Idk if this sounds like a reach but it just occurred to me that we constantly give women shit for acting the way that society has trained them and forced them to act because of fragile male egos.

The fact that Sera calls herself ‘the high seraphim’ bothers me because seraphim is the word for plural, the correct singular is Seraph Angel.

So I was raised Christian and heavily involved in the church, and as such it has given me the unique ability to rant about shows like Hazbin hotel through the lense of religion. I’m no longer Christian but the information has stayed. So here are some of my rambles for Hazbin Hotel.

Lilith may not be widely known as part of the creation story but she was indead in many original biblical texts as Adam’s first wife. And the reason she leaves him in the show is also very similar to why she isn’t in most modern bibles, she was too headstrong and independent and most modern churches don’t like to give women independent and headstrong female characters

The line that Charlie sings after Sir P dies uses the words ‘the ultimate sacrifice’ and to me feels foreshadowing of the fact that he will be ‘reborn’ in heaven. Because ‘ultimate sacrifice’ is often the language used in the bible to refer to Jesus dying on the cross to save people from their sins. So that specific wordage being used to describe how he died to me is telling us that he’ll go to heaven because it implying to us that his actions were like that of Jesus. Also those words coming from Charlie is also very important because in most ways Charlie acts very Christlike and seems to me to feel like Hazbin’s stand in for Jesus. She wants to help redeem people, she doesn’t look down on people who have done bad things, she fights against those who use their religion, in those case heaven, to harm others and calls out the hypocrisy that members of the church often exhibit which are all thing that are major parts of Jesus’ story.
