Scott was not expecting that. He thought you’d scream, or run away, but pass out? He was temporarily stunned before snapping out of his shock— he had to see to it that you were okay. He ran into the bathroom and got a small washcloth. He gently slipped his hand under your unconscious body and placed it on the towel.

“Water. They need water,” Scott muttered as he slid down the stairs. He filled up a small cup that Cassie had gotten him as part of a doll set (it was still pretty big when he shrunk, but it was useable), grabbed a few Saltines and rushed back up to his room.

“There you go, bud,” he said, gently placing the food and drink next to the towel.

“I’ll just, uh…” Scott flipped his helmet backed up and pressed the button, shrinking back down. He sat next to you and waited for 30 minutes before you finally came to.

“…come on, (Y/n), please wake up!”

You groaned and rubbed your eyes, which sent a sting through the back of your head. Your head! It was throbbing. You let the pain fade away before trying to remember what just happened. You pushed up with your hands, and immediately you were met with something… soft. You looked down. You were sitting on a… towel?

“Oh! Thank god you’re awake.”

You froze. Why was there someone talking to you?

Your eyes snapped open, and you remembered. The borrower. Your room. The dresser. Scott. He had shrunken back down again and was now standing next to you, which just boggled your brain even more.

You felt your hands starting to shake as you tried to push yourself up. Your arms were jelly.

“P-please…” you whimpered. You weren’t even sure why you were whimpering that considering you were the same height now, but that was all you could get out before he started talking.

“It’s me! Scott. Are you alright?”

You nodded your head yes, a little confused. He was acting like nothing happened.

“I’m really sorry,” he said softly. “I-I didn’t mean to freak you out or anything like that.” He pointed next to you. “There’s some food and water.”

‘Well, congrats on failing!’ you thought, but couldn’t bring yourself to say. You could only try and make sense of things, and right now, you really needed some sustenance. Slowly, you crawled off the towel and walked over to the water cup, which was more like a bucket, but you were able to grab the sides and drink it. You nibbled a bit off the side of a Saltine, savoring the taste of fresh cracker. Once your body felt close to normal again, you turned to Scott, who looked a bit scarier in that mask than he did before.

“S-So… y-you’re not a b-borrower,” you said dumbly, instantly regretting it. Of course he’s not.

Scott laughed lightly. “No, I’m not. Honestly, I’m still not really sure what that is.”

You raised an eyebrow. “Well, you’re…” you gestured toward him. “And I’m…”

The light went off in Scott’s head and he nodded.

“I’m sorry,” you blurted, “I’m just, I’m so confused. How… what are you?”

“This suit allows me to grow and shrink at the push of a button,” Scott pointed his finger to the button on his hand. “Trust me, I don’t really know how it works either. I just wear it.”

“But… why?”

Scott shrugged. “Well, it’s pretty great for stealing stuff.”

You scoffed. “What do you even need to steal? You can just go anywhere and take anything. You’re a human.”

Scott brushed off how uncomfortable he got when you called him “human” like it was a bad thing.

“Well, it’s not that easy! You’re not supposed to take things that aren’t yours.” He looked down to his feet. What a hypocrite he was saying all this. “People get… real defensive about that stuff.”

“Yeah, like when you set up a trap for me so you could catch me?” you snapped at him.

Scott let out a nervous laugh. “I thought you were a mouse or something—”

“Why did you pretend to be a borrower?”

Scott went silent. You kept going.

“You don’t… I don’t know much about humans, but I do know that they get to see other humans a lot. It’s not th-the same for us! Borrowers are lucky if we get to see others… ever. I really thought you were…”

“What? Don’t you have… parents?”

You shook your head. “I mean… yeah. I do. Did. It’s… it’s pretty easy to become separated.”

Scott got the gist of what you were saying and did not want to press further.

“(Y/n), I’m really sorry for scaring you before. I shouldn’t have pretended to be a borrower and I definitely should not have just… grown out of nowhere. But I was just so fascinated by you I wanted to keep following you!”

You weren’t sure if you should be flattered or creeped out.

“Look, I know you have this… perception that all humans are bad. A-and I’m sure some of us are. Or have been. But… I’ve been stuck in this same house for nearly two years now.” He saw your confused expression. “I know, long story. But I feel awful that you’ve just been… hiding that whole time! I really could have used some company.”

“Why would you ever want me for company?” You didn’t mean to ask that, but you couldn’t stop yourself. “I mean, I steal your food… among other things.” You definitely whispered that last part. “And, I mean… well, look at me. You can be huge. Why would you choose to be small?”

Scott smiled and put his hand on your shoulder, which made you jump. “It doesn’t matter what your height is, (Y/n)! A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Scott was proud of his reference before realizing that there was zero chance you’ve ever even heard of Horton Hears a Who. “Well, anyway. You don’t have to be afraid of me. I’m not going to do anything to you or trick you or anything like that. I just want you to know that I’m here for you! And… I can help.”

You were confused. Why would a human want to help you? But you suppose he did bring you food… and water… and something soft to sleep on…

“How?”

“Well…” he hovered his thumb over the button, and your eyes widened. You gulped as he shot up to human height and bent down, extending his open palm to you.

“We can start with getting you something better to eat than crackers.”

You nervously eyed his gloved hand.

“Oh, don’t worry. I’m sure normal ol’ humans would be clumsy, but me? I’m not your normal human,” Scott joked with a smile.

“You sure got that right…” you muttered, stepping onto his hand. Scott flinched slightly, not really anticipating what it would feel like to have a tiny person climb onto his hand. It was almost… comforting.

“You ready?” he asked. You nodded warily, clinging onto the fabric as Scott stretched out to his full height and carefully walked downstairs. He didn’t really know what to expect having a tiny person actually ride around in his hand, but it was almost cute, watching you bob around to the movement of his hand. He could feel your tiny fingers gripping his glove.

“I can’t believe this…” you said to yourself. You watched, half in amusement and half in frustration, as the world it takes you an entire day to navigate was suddenly behind you in seconds. Going to the kitchen and back is a multi-hour journey in a house as big and old as this, and Scott just bounded down the stairs like it was nothing.

He set you down on the counter. It made you anxious sitting out in the open like this, but you had to keep reminding yourself that Scott was friendly. He was fine.

“Okay, so, I don’t know if you saw, but Cassie and I made tacos a few nights ago and I still have a ton of leftovers.” He reached into the fridge and pulled out some hamburger, cheese, lettuce and tomato. “I’m just gonna go ahead and heat this up.” He turned back to you and smiled to himself at your look of awe. “I’m betting you’ve never really had hot food, huh?”

You shook your head. You certainly couldn’t remember the last time you had something at its proper temperature, hot or cold.

“Everything is either… lukewarm or stale,” you said, laughing a bit at how ridiculous it was to tell a human that. Scott laughed along with you.

“Well, that’s just not right.” He took the taco meat out of the microwave and pulled out a tiny strip for you. He put a single chunk of tomato, a shred of lettuce and a few small pieces of cheese on top and slid it in front of you, breaking a small piece of taco shell and placing it on top.

“Well, it’s nothing special…” Scott said, taking a big bite out of his own food. “Eat up!” he said with a full mouth.

You didn’t need to be told twice. You finished your food before he finished his, and it was easily the best meal you ever had in your entire life. Hot food… hot food was delicious. Scott snickered watching you scarf down food at an almost alarming rate.

“Good, huh?”

You nodded happily.

“Good. Now I think we should—”

It was then that Scott’s phone began to buzz. He pulled it out: An unknown number. He raised an eyebrow but figured he’d take the call anyway.

“Heyo, this is Scott La—”

“Scott, what the hell are you doing with my suit?!”

Scott’s stomach dropped. Of all the times to get back in touch…

“H-Hank! Uh, I-I can explain—”

“Save it. Germany was bad enough, Scott. But now you’re using my suit for personal adventures through your house?!”

“Hank, I—wait, how did you even know I was using the suit?”

“We keep tabs on everyone who’s a security threat, and that includes you!” Hope’s voice shouted from somewhere in the background. “We didn’t want to have to talk to you ever again, but we couldn’t just…”

Scott stopped listening to Hope. He stopped listening to the voices coming from the other end of the line altogether. He cringed at the thought of Hank and Hope watching his every move for almost two years, but he quickly forgot about it when his eyes landed on you, looking at Scott fearfully from the counter. His stomach panged when he realized that if they saw him in the suit, they must have seen you, too.

“Listen, Hank,“ Scott cut him off, “I know what this looks like, but I promise, you’re just seeing things.”

“HOW CAN I BE SEEING THINGS? YOU’RE WEARING MY SUIT RIGHT NOW!”

“Yes! Okay! I’m wearing the suit. But I’m the only one here! I swear!”

“Scott, what the hell are you—”

That’s when the ant cams found their way toward you, exposed and vulnerable out on the counter. That’s when Hank saw, for the first time in over 30 years, a real life borrower.

You mentioned Pride and Prejudice in your post about classic novels, and I was wondering about a) your opinion of Mr. Darcy in general and b) your opinion of Darcy and Elizabeth as a couple.

Don’tlet my mocking tone in that post fool you. I adore Mr. Darcy with all my heart,I merely object to the way he’s popularly associated with the image of this perfect, brooding hunk, when really he’s just a socially awkward loser.

Okay, okay, so our first introduction to Darcy is at a ball, where he:

Doesn’t dance

Can’t make small talk

Is generally rude and embarrassing

Stands awkwardly in the corner the whole night

Decides he might fancy this one girl, so heinsults her.

Loudly.

Where anyone could overhear.

Including the girl.

Gets roundly insulted to his face by said girl, and hisreaction is ‘…damn.’

Later on, he gets to know this girl a bit better. He warms up to her, and starts to act a little less like a standoffish jackass.

Thencomes the infamous ball where the entire Bennet family, except for Jane andLizzie, embarrass themselves. He convinces Bingley not to marry Jane because itwould degrade him.

MONTHSpass, and Lizzie meets Mr. Darcy again. She finds out that he separated Jane andBingley and she is SIMMERING with resentment. Darcy, on the other hand, (whomust have been pining over her and doodling ‘Mrs Elizabeth Darcy’ in hisnotebooks all this time) decides this is the perfect time to propose marriage. He BURSTS into her house, completely unannounced, ignores her chilly reception, then makes awkward small talk and wanders around in agitation. Finally, heconfesses that he loves her, against his better judgment, and insults her and herentire family before standing back, quite pleased with himself and convinced that she’s going to accepthim.

Butshe doesn’t.

Shelets him have it. She tells him how much she loathes him and exactly why. He isstunned. Mortified. No one has ever spoken to him like this. He’s quite used togetting everything he wants, and this just shakes him to his core. He stands therefor a while with a face like a slapped arse, then, unable to defend himself, he slinks away with a haughty goodbye and goes off to wallow in shame and resentment.

Andthen.

THEN.

Thenext day Lizzie is walking around the grounds and Mr. Darcy finds her. Has hetaken this time to compose himself so he might talk to her and explain himselfbetter?

No.

Hewrote a letter. He wrote a fucking letter. He probably spent all nightagonising and poring over this thing. Then he skulked around the grounds ALLMORNING in the hope of finding her. His exact words: “I have been walkingin the grove some time in the hope of meeting you. Will you do me the honour ofreading that letter?”

Andhe shoves it in her hand.

Thenhe runs.

RUNS.

(Darcyyou fucking walnut.)

Lizziereads the letter, and of course it’s beautiful and eloquent and it sayseverything he’s too socially inept to say to her face. It radically alters her opinion of him.

In response to her criticisms, Darcyreally does make an effort to changehis manners. He was never a bad guy – it’s obvious how much he loves his friendsand his baby sister, and Lizzie too, he just tends to be rude and haughty and socially awkward, something that’s understandable considering his station.

Lizziemeets him at Pemberley and he introduces her to his sister (which,over-protective big brother alert, is the biggest compliment he can give) andseeing how he treats her makes Lizzie just a tiny bit weak in the knees. JUST ALITTLE. NOT THAT SHE WANTS TO MARRY HIM OR ANYTHING HAHA wow his house is big.

THENHE’S EVEN A GENTLEMAN TO HER AUNT AND UNCLE AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE SHE MIGHTTHINK HE’S A BIT HANDSOME???? JUST A LITTLE?????

Then she hears her sister Lydia has run away with the renegade Mr. Wickham.

Mr.Darcy be like

NOTON MY WATCH. NO SIR.

Hecomes to the rescue, finds Lydia and Wickham, and persuades them to marry with ahefty sum of money, thus rescuing the Bennets from disgrace. But. BUT.

HEDOES ALL THIS WITHOUT TELLING HER. OR THE REST OF HER FAMILY.

HERAUNT AND UNCLE TELL HER, MUCH LATER, THAT DARCY DID IT ALL AT GREAT PERSONALEXPENSE.

AndLizzie’s just like ‘oh no.’

(Because every girl’s a slut for a gentlemanwho treats her and her family with respect.)

BUTTHAT’S NOT ALL.

OHNO, THAT IS NOT ALL.

BINGLEYCOMES BACK. MAH BOY BINGLEY COMES RIDING INTO TOWN TO SWEEP JANE OFF HER FEET.

Gee,I wonder who could have been behind that? I wonder who could possibly havepersuaded Bingley that Jane truly did love him, and that her family was notbeneath his station after all? WHO COULD POSSIBLY HAVE DONE THAT????

Bythis point Lizzie’s a hive of conflicting desires and emotions. That’s whenLady Catherine de Bourgh comes into her house, unannounced, and tells her notto marry Mr. Darcy.

Howdoes Lizzie respond? Miss “From the very beginning – from the firstmoment, I may almost say – of my acquaintance with you, your manners, impressing me with the fullest belief of your arrogance, your conceit, and yourselfish disdain of the feelings of others, were such as to form that groundworkof disapprobation on which succeeding events have built so immoveable adislike; and I had not known you a month before I felt that you were the lastman in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry” ?

Shesays, ‘WOW. FUCK YOU LADY. YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO. HE’S A GENTLEMAN AND IAM A GENTLEMAN’S DAUGHTER. WE ARE EQUALS. I’LL MARRY WHOMEVER I PLEASE. NOW GETTHE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE.’

(Oooooh, girl, you got it bad.)

After this, Darcy shows up and starts talking to Lizzie. And it KILLS me, because obviouslyhe’d given up on ever winning her hand. He did all those things for her notbecause he wanted her to like him, but just because he loved her. He was upsetwhen he found out her uncle had told her about what he did for Lydia andWickham. UPSET. And while Lady Catherine had raged about how inferiorLizzie’s family was, just as Darcy once had, now Darcy says that he respectsand loves them. He says Lady Catherine spoke to him of their encounter, and it filledhim with hope that maybe she didn’t think he was an insufferable jackassanymore. ONLY when he receives this encouragement does he renew his proposal, and even then he adds, “one word from you will silence me on this subject forever.”

IMEAN???? Just LOOK at this precious sunflower, dumb and stuttering and full of “awkwardnessand anxiety,” so fucking in love with this girl that he was willing to give hispersonality a complete overhaul and re-evaluate all his life choices, notbecause he thought it would make her like him, but JUST BECAUSE he loved her. And if she had refused him a second time, he would never have bothered her again.THAT is how you gentleman.

Thename of the novel says it all – Pride and Prejudice. He’s proud and haughty, she’s prejudiced and rooted in her negative first impressions. These are thethings they have to overcome, this is how they have to grow and evolve. Heneeds to lay aside his pride, she her prejudice, and only then can they betogether.

Becausethey are perfect for each other. Absolutely, unequivocally. And when Jane Austen says they live happily ever after, Ibelieve her.

i just read a washington post article on romcoms aging poorly due to the pushiness (and oft-stalkery conduct) of the male characters therein, and it got me thinking about pride and prejudice, and specifically darcy saying, “one word from you will silence me on this subject forever.”

because, like, that’s the seldom-portrayed romantic dream in the patriarchal hellscape that is our world, isn’t it?

a dude being willing to say, “i understand if you don’t feel the same way about me, and i’ll leave you alone forever about this if my attention is unwanted.”

so simple, yet so wonderful in its basic human decency

Daybreak

I decided to do a little bit of writing based on a prompt that was floating around earlier:

Darius woke to the first rays of dawn shining through the inn room window, squinting his blue eyes in protest against the unwelcome intrusion of light that yanked him from his deep and restful slumber. He had grown so used to sleeping in makeshift camps in the woods during his travels that the modest comforts of the tiny inn were a veritable palace for him. For several long moments, the dark-haired swordsman wrestled with the idea of simply closing his eyes once more and letting the softness of the mattress below him coax him back into slumber’s gentle embrace, but discipline ultimately won out. They had a long way to travel today, and it meant getting on the road as soon as possible.

Secret Weapon: Part 4/9

My askbox is still open for prompts, by the way! Send me one!

Part 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

The giant glanced away, illuminating a thick concrete wall embedded with chains holding it in place. “The last of a lost race,” it said, enigmatic and sorrowful mall at once. Its tone soon turned bitter. “Now I’m a prisoner, a beast to be locked away and starved into submission.” It looked up, to the faintest rectangle of light framing the small hatch, and said, “They use the energy of my god to power their war, but they allow me so little of it.”

She didn’t often feel compassion, but the sincerity in the giant’s tale cut her to the quick. She herself had been a prisoner once, as a child; she felt a pang if sympathy for the giant’s plight.

In The Walls (scott lang/ant-man x borrower!reader)

request: well, i got some free time. it took me so freaking long to get to this because i go way too hard but i did it. scott lang meets a borrower in the most unpredictable way… i had way too much fun with this. (i love scott so much he is such a JOY to write my god)

a/n: for story purposes assume he shrinks to three inches tall and not ant sized

taglist: @nightmarejasmine @burrpoetry @thepoolofthedead @the-original-space-cowboy @gttrash @smolkuriboh27 @tiefling-trickery @teenygiant @bittykimmy

———————————————————————————————————–

Ever since becoming Ant-Man, Scott has been more… perceptive. He sees when even the littlest thing around his house changes; maybe the wind blew a piece of paper upside down, or Cassie knocked into a plant while she was playing. Scott noticed everything now, and the bits of missing food were no exception. The peanut that was resting sideways on top of the other peanut was missing. There was a small chunk of cookie taken out of the side. The faucet was dripping.

Scott used to chalk up any of the missing food he noticed to ants. But of course, now that he told them “please don’t take my food anymore,” the fact that things were still going missing puzzled him.

So, naturally, he set up a stake-out.

He didn’t really know what he was looking for—a mouse, maybe? He had put a small piece of cheese on the counter and ducked behind the couch, binoculars fixated on the food. He had his Ant-Man suit on, just in case something crazy happened. He hadn’t used it since Germany, but this felt like a situation where being small could benefit him. He had actually figured out how to put it on without disturbing his ankle monitor.

So, he waited. And waited. And waited. Until finally, there was movement. It first came from behind the toaster, where Scott noticed the cord had shifted. His eyes followed along the back of the counter to where a cereal box rattled a bit.

“This is it…” Scott said to himself. With that much movement, it had to be a mouse. But he looked away for a moment to itch his leg, and when he looked back up, the cheese was gone.

“Oh, you gotta be kidding me!” he yelled, clicking the side of his helmet. He ran toward the counter and shrunk, skidding to a stop next to the napkin he laid the cheese on. He whipped his head to the left and saw the tail end of something running behind the toaster.

“There you are. My food stealer!” Scott ran behind the toaster and raised his eyebrow when he saw a hole in the wall. Has that always been there?

Nonetheless, he leaped through and gasped when he laid his eyes upon an intricate work of tunnels. Nails in the boards seemed to make ladders and stepping stones both vertically and horizontally along walls. String hung from places so high it disappeared from view. What was all this?

Again, movement caught his eye.

“Wait!” Scott called out, running toward the movement. “I-I know you can’t understand me, but, uh, please stop taking my food!”

He used his instincts to trust that the way he was running was the right one. He jumped along nails and used the splintering wood to keep up with this mouse.

He kept running before suddenly bumping into something that shrieked, nearly falling over. He looked back to see he had bumped into… another person.

“Sorry, sorry!” he said. “I-I’m just trying to catch this mouse that keeps taking all my food!”

You watched, absolutely bewildered, as a man the same size as you in the strangest clothes you had ever seen had just… whizzed past you. You didn’t know there was another Borrower in here! Or a mouse…

Scott kept running, wondering why someone else was parading in his walls.

And then he stopped. Wait… wait. What the hell?

He turned back around. You were frozen, staring at him, eyes wide and cheese in your hand. Slowly, Scott walked up to you. This… this is who has been taking all my food? Who is this person? Why are they so small? They’re not even wearing a suit.

The mysterious man walked back over to you. He was wearing the strangest helmet you have ever seen. In fact, you had never even seen a Borrower wear a helmet. And he had on a skin-tight suit? Was he one of those obsessed with human culture and he was trying out his Halloween costume?

“Hi,” he waved his hand. “I-I’m Scott. I—”

“Are you another Borrower?” you blurt, groaning in your head at how stupid that question was. Of course he is.

A Borrower… what is a Borrower? That’s what Scott was thinking in his head. That’s what he was going to ask. But for some godforsaken reason, he responded with “Yes.”

Your eyes lit up. “Oh my gosh! Wow. I-I’ve never met another one of us here before. T-this is crazy. I thought I was the only one. Where have you been living all this time?” You pointed up. “I live up there, next to the human’s bedroom.”

The human? Scott wondered before realizing that they were talking about him.

“U-Uh, that’s where I live too,” Scott said awkwardly, not really thinking. “B-but on the other side of the wall, of course.”

You raised an eyebrow. You would have seen him for sure if that was the case. But you shrugged it off. You were talking to another Borrower, after all.

“I-I don’t want to be rude, but, where did you get those clothes?” you asked.

Scott panicked. What was he supposed to say? Oh, this is my high-tech super suit that allows me to grow and shrink at the push of a button?

“These are my… pajamas.”

“Your pajamas? You wear a helmet to bed?”

Duh! “I-I wear this when I leave my room—my room, next to the other room—the, uh, human room, like you said… in the walls.”

Okay, something was definitely up with this guy. You just couldn’t quite place what.

“W-well, I grabbed this piece of cheese from the counter,” you said, holding it out. It was about the size of a basketball. “Do you want some?”

Scott just stood there, lost for words. Thankfully, you kept going.

“It was crazy. It was just sitting right out there! Right on a napkin too. The human hasn’t left his house in so long, I’ve lost count of how many days it’s been. I haven’t had food this clean in forever…” you trailed off, noticing how convenient this borrowing was when you said the details out loud. Then, it clicked.

“Oh, shit.”

“What?”

“I-it was a trap,” you said, frantically looking around. “T-the human obviously left it there as a trap! Oh my god, now he knows I’m here.” You stopped to take a breath before remembering something this new Borrower said earlier. “Wait, didn’t you say there was a mouse trying to take your food?”

“Yeah, b-but—”

“Oh, god, that’s even worse,” you panicked. “The human knows I’m here and there’s a mouse. I… we gotta get out of here,” you said, grabbing his wrist. “Come on.”

“Get out of here? Where are we going?”

“We have to leave the house!” you said like he asked the world’s dumbest question. “We can’t stay here if the human knows.”

The two of you ran—well, you ran, and Scott was dragged along. He was in too deep now, and you seemed to have a real resentment for him.

“What’s your name?” Scott asked, wanting to know more.

“(Y/n),” you said in between breaths.

“What’s so wrong with humans, (y/n)?” Scott asked as you skidded to a stop. You began pulling a rope down for the platform. “The ones I’ve talked to are… nice.”

You stopped pulling. “You… you’ve talked to humans before?”

“Oh yeah, plenty of times. They’re pretty cool, for the most part. What’d they ever do to you?”

You were absolutely floored.

“Y-you’re lucky,” you said grimly, pulling the rope again. “I used to know a few Borrowers who talked with humans. They started out curious, but then…” you trailed off. “I never saw them again. It’s why I’m here, alone. It became too risky to live with the others.”

Scott felt his stomach sink. “How long have you been here?”

“About two years,” you said, the platform finally coming into view. “It’s been pretty nice. The human is pretty unassuming.” Scott wasn’t sure if he should take offense to that or not. “How long have you been here?” you asked as you stepped onto the platform. He looked at you funny.

“Well? Aren’t you getting on?”

“O-oh, right.”

Scott stepped on and held the rope as you let it go, the two of you flying up.

“So?”

“W-well, I’ve been here… as long as I can remember,” he responded, still looking in awe at the contraption he was on.

“Really? It’s really weird that I’ve never run into you before.”

“I… go out a lot,” Scott said, rubbing the back of his neck. “But not lately, really.” He looked down at his ankle. He could feel the monitor still strapped on.

“Huh.”

There were a few beats of silence.

“Did you build this?”

You were surprised by his question. How else would it have got here?

You nodded. “How do you get between the levels?”

“The stairs,” Scott said before shutting his lips closed. He was not good at this.

“I’m sorry, the what?” you asked, but you didn’t get a chance to hear his answer. You had reached the top.

“Come on,” you said, running. “We’re gonna stop by my room first, and then we can go to yours.”

You’re already here, Scott thought as he jogged after you. When he reached your room, he let out a small “woah”—there was a ton of little trinkets that Scott had thought he lost over the years, all converted into miniature-sized appliances. A thimble as a water bucket. A spool as a table. Towels rolled up to make a bed. Pins stuck in the wall to use as hooks.

“This is incredible,” he said, quietly enough that you wouldn’t hear him. He looked over at you, frantically stuffing essentials into bags. It was all hitting him in a huge wave—little people existed. They didn’t need suits. It was physically possible to live and prosper at this size. Wait, is this where Hank got the idea from?

“Sorry I’m taking so long,” you said, pushing your hair out of your face. “I’m pretty nostalgic.”

Scott walked around, picking things up and turning them in his hands. Sure, being Ant-Man was fun, but he couldn’t imagine living like this all the time. Plus, there was no way these… Borrowers had the heightened strength he had with his suit. He had never truly felt scared with his suit, but you… you didn’t have the ability to grow.

You didn’t know what was nagging you so much about this guy. He was definitely the weirdest Borrower you have ever met, but he was… familiar in a way. You felt like you already knew him.

“Can I ask you something?”

Scott’s heart skipped a beat. Oh, he was done for.

He turned to you and nodded.

“What you said before. A-about talking to humans… h-how did you get out of it alive?”

Scott felt a pang in his stomach.

“W-what?”

“Everyone I’ve ever known who was caught by a human died. They just disappeared. H-How on earth could you talk to multiple humans and still be… here?” Your head was spinning. Nothing about this guy made sense.

Scott sighed. He felt awful about how horrible humans were. But maybe this was his chance to let you see that they weren’t all bad. After all, Scott at least understood the overwhelming feeling of being so small.

“Come here, I want to show you something,” he said, walking toward where you entered. “How do you get to the bedroom from here?”

Silently, you walked him out to the entrance of the bedroom.

“A-are you sure? The human could be in there.”

“Oh, I can promise you he isn’t,” Scott said, leaping through the crack in the wooden panels. He looked around and instantly recognized that you were on his dresser. You followed him through, utterly confused as to what he wanted to show you.

“Hey, man,” you said, blanking on his name. “I don’t really think this is—”

“I’ve talked to the guy who lives here before,” Scott said, not comfortable with referring to himself as “the human.”

Your jaw dropped. “You what?”

“He’s pretty relaxed. And super nice, actually. Pretty good looking, too.”

You blinked.

“I’ve come to find that if you just give humans a chance, they can actually be very kind and understanding people.”

Your confusion was slowly turning to anger. Of all things, you didn’t expect this weirdo to be a human apologist, especially after what you had told him just moments ago.

“N-now, j-just stay here,” he said, inching toward the edge of the dresser. “And, please, promise me you won’t freak out.”

You didn’t even know what to say. “Uh—wait, wait, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” you shouted. He had just… thrown himself off the dresser. This guy was a complete lunatic. He was going to die from that fall.

If there is a God… well, there are some Gods, I-I guess—please, please don’t have this little thing be scared of me, Scott thought as he stared at the red button on his hand. Slowly, he pressed it and shot back to normal size.

You fell backward and almost choked on your breath. Did he just… grow?

You looked in pure horror. You were now staring up at the same Borrower you were face-to-face with a few seconds ago. This guy… this guy was no Borrower.

“No, no, no…” you muttered. You shook in your shoes and clutched onto the bag you still had flung over your shoulder as the person pressed the side of his mask. It folded back, and your stomach could have dropped through the floor as his name finally came back to you. It was him. The human. Scott.

He walked toward you and you scrambled back, looking behind you for the hole in the boards. How was this even possible? Were you dreaming? Was this some kind of cruel, elaborate prank by him because you took his cheese?

“H-hey, please don’t be scared,” he said, crouching down. He had a soft smile on his face and his cheeks were red with embarrassment. It was so strange looking at someone so small. They looked so… helpless. Is that what I look like to everyone else?

He started to reach his hand out before you flung your arm up to cover your face, prompting a look of sorrow from Scott. “I know this is super weird, but…”

He didn’t even get to finish his sentence before you passed out.

Disappearing Act

Back by popular Demand, Marvel G/t stuff, featuring the reader as Tip, a borrower who’s in way over his head.

Previous | Next

You kept turning the encounter over in your head minute by minute, hour by hour. No matter what, you couldn’t get it out of your head. Thor. You’d seen him around the compound and the tower back before it got destroyed. But you’d never really managed to catch his name anywhere. That rarely happened for you. It felt weird to know one of their names. It felt much less like he was just some force of nature walking about, replaced by thinking of the giant much more like… a person? If that made sense.

A Midnight Encounter

Okay so @obwjam inspired me to write this, so here I am. Includes Thor and Borrower reader. Will probably write a sequel eventually if enough people actually like it. Pretty short overall, but it was fun to write!

Okay, so maybe you shouldn’t have gone looking for food in the middle of the living room. Maybe those dropped snack foods weren’t nearly worth the risk to your welfare. And maybe it had been a little presumptuous of you to assume that no one would be up at midnight and willing to walk there.

G/t idea

Imagine two friends who moved away from each other as teens and haven’t seen each other since, in that time apart one of them mysteriously grew three times their normal height and now that they’re both adults the bigger is travelling hundreds of miles to see their old buddy.

Of course they forget to mention over the phone that they are now an actual giant (obviously it’s become pretty normal for them over the years) so they’re just extremely excited and overjoyed to meet their friend again! When they arrive at the door and their much smaller friend opens it the giant excitedly pulls their friend in for a very big bear hug, the rather bemused and slightly frightened friend can’t say anything as they just stare up at their now huge friend.

Once the giant places their friend back on the ground they realise that the friend is slightly scared of them, backing into the doorway as they shakily watch them with wary eyes- this absolutely breaks the giants heart and after trying to explain what’s happened while absolutely panicking they burst into tears at the sight of their friend so afraid, where they come from everyone’s used to them being big!

The smaller friend realises it’s just their old pal and they nervously try to calm them down, when they get close again and look up into their eyes the nerves vanish- they might be huge but this is still the same person. The friend tries to hug the giant, putting a smile back on the giants face as the tiny friend apologises for being initially afraid- they invite the giant inside (it’s a tight squeeze to get through the door but they manage eventually)

After a while of talking and hanging out the twos bond is as strong as ever, the smaller friend invites the giant to stay permanently- of course the giant is absolutely overjoyed and accepts the offer instantly. The two go on to have many adventures and mishaps together- the smaller friend still trying to get used to having a friend three times their size and the bigger friend trying to remember to be gentle and less energetic.

The Less You Know (GT) (Part 1/2)

image

This is prompt from the 100 (GT) Themes Challenge. Feel free to send a number/word from the list for me to write about, and a specific character to go along with it, if you like!

For this prompt I chose Robbie and Claudia from Midsummer Nightmare, a piece I wrote for a contest. This is an AU of sorts, where the events of Midsummer Nightmare did not happen.

Claudia leaned back against the wall, drumming her knuckles on the bricks as she grew more and more impatient. The night club Arcadia had cleared out half an hour ago, and she had followed the crowd out, not wanting to make Robbie suspicious that she was going to pounce him. Again.

She totally was.

He was still inside, taking his sweet time. It was strange. Claudia swore she had never seen a single custodian or the like at the nightclub. Maybe they came in during the day, but hell, there wasn’t even a bouncer or any sort of security at night. She’d never heard anything about an owner. The only staff she’d seen was the bartender, but he always vanished before closing.

Which left DJ Robbie. The guy that no one seemed to remember existed until they stepped into Arcadia.

The door swung open, and Claudia perked up. She waited until she heard the door lock before making her move. Strangely, she didn’t hear a jangle of keys before the lock clicked, as if Robbie somehow had a way to lock the door from the outside without anything in hand. Just another strange thing about him to add to the ever-growing list.

As he came out from alcove, Claudia leapt away from the wall. “Robbie!”

Borrower Fic 1/?

I wrote… a self insert fic starring Elliot. this is my first thing I’ve written in a while, please don’t be harsh ;u;

You wake up with a pounding headache that only gets worse when you open your eyes. The light that’s shining down on you seems far too bright to be the sun, and far too close to be safe. Ignoring the thudding behind your eyes, you sit up and look around, blinking as you take in your surroundings and try to remember what happened before you passed out.

These Giant Feelings

Part 2 of a 2 part prompt. Soulmate au where the first words spoken to each other are on your wrist.

A big thanks to @gatlily for the prompt.

_____________________________________________

Last night was terrible, Felix never thought there would be an attack, not in Trives. There had been reports of a few incidents, but no outright attacks and no deaths till that night. And yet, Felix thanked the Fates for allowing him to be there to meet his soulmate.

After the fire had been stamped out, the two warring sides had come to an useasey, and temporary truce. In the same hour the fire died, Felix’s father, the captain of the guards, pulled a small team of troops from the city, and sent them to deliver a message to the king. The letter contained a hopeful plea for a treaty, sighned by a few elders of the city and the captain.

The humans of Trives were allowed to continue their daily lives, abeit with tensions high on each side. Before the group left to deliver the message to the capitol, Felix had taken his injured mate and presented her to his father.

“Captain,” he had began. “Allow me to take leave of the city.” He flashed his wrist displaying the golden writing, while his father looked down at the unconscious girl.

“God’s and demons, is she?” He couldn’t finish the question. Felix nodded slowly.

“Yes sir. I didn’t see my flash, but I could just….feel it. Does that make sense?” Felix asked. The captain put an arm on his shoulder.

“Who am I to say?” He shrugged. “No one knows how the Fates work. But are you absolutely sure you want to take her out of the city?”

Felix hesitated, but nodded. “Yes Father. I want to know her better, but I do not think I will have a chance to do that here, she was scared when she found out.” He revealed. “I feel they would take her away from me.”

“Who?”

Felix huffed. “Pick a side, I don’t think anyone will like this!” He ran a hand through his hair.

The captain gave him a firm look. “Very well. You’re old enough to deal with the consequences of your descions.” His father mumbled. “I will grant you leave for two days.”

That hour he left with the group, the girl hidden in the pocket of his cloak. Felix broke away discreetly, after Five hours of walking, and headed for a nearby giant village. In the village he paid for a room at the tavern, and shut the door.

Now she layed on the bed, asleep. Felix sat crossed leg on the end of the cot just watching, just waiting for movement. He didn’t even know her name and yet he felt a certain fondness for her. He wanted to protect her, but that was probably because she was so small.

At last she moved, she rolled to the side and opened her eyes.

“Good morning, how are you feeling?” Felix asked, his tone light, but she stiffened at his voice. She sat up sharply and pushed herself as far away from him as she could.

“You! Where am I? What have you done?” She questioned nervously. She looked around the room. “Oh gods…I’m, I’m in giant lands!” She cried.

Felix winced. This was not how he imagined this to go. “It’s alright, I haven’t done anything to you except bring you here.” He answered. He lowered a hand to her.

“Don’t! Don’t touch me!” She warned, her back against the wall. Felix faltered, but continued lowering his hand slowly despite her pleas. He was tired, tired of fear, not just from her but from other humans.

“I’m not going to hurt you, your my mate, my partner, I would never hurt you.” He said wrapping a loose hand around her and lifting her up. “I don’t even know your name.”

“It’s Sage.” She said bitterly.

Felix smiled. “That’s a pretty name, it suits you. I’m Felix.” Sage wouldn’t even look at him, but at least she didn’t fight him.

“Sage, please, I’m trying here. At least look at me.”

She turned her head and glared at him, all fear had faded, replaced by a smoldering anger. “Oh well forgive me for not wanting to look to look into the vile face of my captor.” She spoke sarcastically. “What do you expect me of me after you do something like that? Bow and thank you for dragging me away from my home?” Sage asked viscously.

Felix’s ears burn. “We’re only about half a day’s march from Trives, I can take you back whenever you like.”

“Well I want to go back now!” She twisted in his hand. “I want to help my people after what you giants did last night!”

“That wasn’t even our fault!” Felix defended. “You humans were the ones that started it!”

“WE didn’t start it! But if we did, we did it to get rid of you lot!” She yelled at him, A hatered flashed in her eyes. “Your kind has done so much to us!”

Something in Felix flared. “No.” He stated darkly. “Humans aren’t perfect either, humans send teams to kill us in our sleep because you’re to cowardly to fight us, you use tricks and secrecy to win your battles.”

Sage’s face flushed. “We wouldn’t even think of doing that if giants didn’t plunder our villages first! The few cities we have left are crammed with people because they’re to scared to live in open fields.” She argued. “But does that make a difference? No, because your kind decided to take over our city!”

“My kind!? We have orders to keep our kind out! We protect you from rouge giants who want to hurt you!”

“By placing a curfew on us?” Sage accused. “By harrasing my people and causing fights a the time?!”

Felix ran a frustrated hand through his hair. “It’s only because of instigators, and trouble makers that we place those rules down! He fought back, his voice raising. “If we could just get rid of all the stupid bull-headed humans who cause us problems, you wouldn’t have to deal with those rules!”

A silence hung in the air, Felix wondered if he had scared Sage into silence, his face softened and he was about to apologise.

“I’m one of those bull-headed humans.” Sage whispered, an edge in her voice.

Felix’s mouth hung open. “What?”

She looked him in the eye definitely. “I’M one of those humans, who causes the trouble.”

“Seven hells and seven Fates” Felix swore. “You’re one of them?”

Sage nodded and watched his face for any sighns of madness. She waited for him to snap, to crush her or tear her in half, but he just held her. More silence followed, and Sage began to panick. Finnally, Felix did the last thing she expected.

He chuckled.

“Were you the one that put the chickens in the captains tent?” He asked.

Sage’s face burned and she looked away. Felix’s laugh only increased.

“It’s not like it was hard to do.” Sage muttered, her face a brilliant red. Felix stopped laughing after a few minutes.

“You know what? I don’t care.” He decided. “I don’t care if you hate me, or that you’re a rebel, I don’t care anymore.” He moved Sage’s head to look at him. “I know why your my mate,” he stated. “You can hold your own against a giant in a fight, and not many humans can do that.”

He sighed.

“Well,” Sage said slowly. “You should meet my mother then, if you think humans can’t hold their own against a giant.”

He smiled. He would like to meet this family, the people who raised this strong girl. It would be interesting; He would also like to have her meet his father.

Felix shifted. “I’ll take you back to Trives today.”

“….thank you.” Sage said gratefully.

He gave a small smile. “It is no problem, besides, I wish to meet the rest of your rebel family.”

Sage stiffened. “I have no family in the rebellion.”

Felix snorted and lowered her down to the bed. “I’ll take your word at that officially but,” he raised his eyebrows. “I hope you don’t take me for a fool.”

She stood on the blanket. “What happened after….” She trailed off. “You know, last night.”

“After you fainted?” He suggested, bringing a small glare from her. “Well we took out the fire, and after that everyone just sorta stopped.” He explained. “My captain sent a message to the capitol, we’re hoping for some sort of compromise at least.”

Sage let the news settle. “That’s good! It’s a start.” She said hopefully.

He nodded. “I suppose it is.”

“When you meet my uncle,” sage said suddenly. “,don’t ask about anything related to the apothecary trade, or he’ll talk your ear off.”

Felix smirked. “Oh? Am I allowed to meet them then?”

“Yes, I guess you’ll have to one day, might as well get it over with.” She smiled slyly. “But first we must eat something.”

“I’m willing to accept that deal.” He laughed, lowering his hand next to her, letting her climb on. Lifting her to his shoulder, he moved from the bed, and walked out the door.

Yes it was a start. Hopefully the start of a long and and prosperous relashionship.

These Giant Feelings

Part 1 of a 2 part story. Soulmate Au prompt where the first words spoken to you by your partner are on your wrist. A big thanks to @gatlily for the writing prompt.

_____________________________

Sage hurried down the dark alley picking her drenched skirt up to run faster. There had been another fight between the humans and giants, and things were getting out of hand fast.

She clutched the package to her chest, it was a measure of herb, picked from the outer walls. It was very rare, and very effective, increasing the streagth of anyone who ate even just a pinch of it. Thunder clapped overhead as she made her way through the crowded back alleys of Trives city.

Ten minutes later she was at the door of an old apothecary shop. She knocked twice, waited a second and knocked again. The door opened a crack, just barely enough to let her squeeze through.

“It took you long enough!” A man snapped, taking the package from her. The room was packed with people, about two thirds of them had weapons. Plants and lamps hung from the roof beams, casting shadows on the walls. Pots filled with different concoctions bubbled on every table surface, their fumes made Sage want to gag.

“I am sorry uncle Jones, the outsider was detained. Another fight broken out in the market.” Sage explained as she weaved through the crowd trying to follow her uncle.

“The red or public market?”

“Public.” Sage confirmed.

He nodded knowingly and a tad sadly. “ We heard, that is why we’re making our move tonight.” A cheer went up around the room only to be shushed down by Sage’s uncle.

“Shut up! Shut up you idiots! Do you want to draw the guard to our front door?!” He reprimed them.

“Ah you worry to much ol’ man! The storm is enough of a cover for our cheers.” A young man buried in the crowd yelled eliciting more cheers. Uncle Jones shushed them all again rolling his eyes.

“It’s a good thing the package arrived tonight, honestly it’s just good fortune.” Uncle Jones muttered.

“You’re doing it tonight?” Sage asked worriedly. As if he suddenly remembered something Uncle Jones turned to sage.

“You need tell the other message girls to stay back,” he said moving a culdron aside and opening the parcel. “We don’t need anymore pre-found deaths on our hands.”

Sage and many of her peers were what people of all sizes called pre-found, meaning they had yet to find their soulmate. Everyone, man, women, child, and giant, had a phrase or word written in black on their wrist. The words were the first thing they said to you. Once said, the words turned from their dull black to a shining gold in a bright flash. It could happen at any age, and it could be any words. If the words were to disappear, it meant your partner had died. Sage’s own words were, “Watch out.”

Sage bit her lip. “But we can help! We can fight! We want to—”

“You girls aren’t found!” Her uncle interrupted. “And we’re not letting anyone who hasn’t been found under twenty-five fight anyways.” He nodded firmly as if that settled the matter.

“But uncle Jones!” Sage began.

“No buts! You already run our messages, our deliveries and cause distractions too! No, you tell them I don’t want to see a single message girl there understand?” He looked her in the eye.

Sage looked down defeated. “Yes uncle.” He gave a small smile and started preparing the herb.

She heard a voice behind her sneer. “It’s because girls are weak and pathetic, we wouldn’t want them to break a nail.” It was her cousin Goffer, he was a found. Uncle Jones turned around and whacked Goffer over the head with a spoon.

“It’s because if anything, there to valuable to lose you nitwit! Remember when we used messenger boys? Oh that was a disaster,” he began to rant. “boys running around blabbing their messages to the wrong sort, fights breaking out every other day over who took what message or packet, who did more messages than who,” he shook his head. “If anything you are more expendable! Now go join the ranks before I call my sister to get you!” He threatened. In the crowd a women held up her pitch fork and shook it.

“You better not be causing trouble Goffer!” A shrill voice piped up. Goffer turned tail oppisite of the voice and hurried into the crowd. Sage giggled.

“Now get going you! You need to hurry as well!” Uncle Jones said turning to Sage, but she had already left for the back door, to warn her fellow messengers.

Later that night, Sage found herself spying on the fight, despite her uncle’s wishes.

It was chaos.

The Giants were clearly out numbered, but they had the power to keep the humans at bay, even with the herb most of the human fighters had taken. Lightning flashed illuminatatimg the iron breastplates, and steel plated shields the giants carried. Compared to the handcrafted weapons of the humans,… well it was sorry indeed.

Amidst the thunder and rain, a great bolt of lightning struck, and set fire to the the weaving mill.

“Oh no.” A feeling of horror filled Sage as she watched the straw roof of the building, burn up like dry sheep’s wool. She ran out from her hiding spot to the well, other girls she recognized as Messengers came running to the well from different corners of the market.

“Emma?”

“Sage?”

“Yes we’re all here and we all know each other!” A girl named Ruth snapped sarcastically. “So let’s stop gawking and start pulling up water!”

“Your right let’s go!” Sage agreed. They lowered the buckets hastily and ran at the fire. Most of the fighting had stopped, Giants and humans were both actively trying to take out the fire, a few humans had started moving the horses from the nearby stall away just in case.

Sage tossed the water onto the fire and started running to get some more when she heard a scream from Dawn. She looked to see Dawn pointing up at the top window of the building. An old woman waved her hands and cried for help, but not many people could see her through the smoke and darkness of the night.

An idea popped in Sage’s head. It was risky but it was the only thing she could think of, she turned around and ran to the nearest giant. He was using a large cloak to smother the spreading flames, and didn’t see Sage run up to him.

“Sir, please I need your help!” The giant took a step back and searched for the voice, nearly stepping on Sage in the process. “Sir please!” The giant looked down in suprise. Having finnally gained the his attention, she pointed her finger to the top most window of the burning building. The giant nodded and followed her over to lift the women out. Carrying her to the well he placed her in the care of a group of humans.

Sage gave a sigh of relief and turned to get more water. At that moment, a flaming wooden support beam cracked, and leaned slowly towards Sage, who had her back turned.

“Watch out!” Someone bellowed. Her wrist shone brightly at the words, blinding Sage with the sudden light.

“What in the—?” Her feet left the ground, her torso was enclosed in something warm and firm. Sage looked up to see the face of the giant who she had gone to for help. “Hey, Put me down! I can walk on my own thank you very much!”

But he kept running, running to the other side of the battle where the giants took a temporary base. He was taking her prisoner.

“No! Wait! Let me go!” She thrashed around wildly trying to get him to drop her.

“Stop that.” He said in a frustrated tone as he lowered her to the ground. As soon as her feet touched the stone, she tried to dart off, but his fingers held her by the arm.

“Will you please stop that?” He asked as Sage beat his hand with her free arm. When Sage wouldn’t stop he gave a small sigh and lifted her to his knee. Taking the glove off on his free hand with his teeth, he shoved his hand into her view.

Sage had turned her head away, assuming he was about to crush her, but after a few moments when she realized she wasn’t dead yet, she looked. His wrist caught the light from a flash of lightning and allowed her to read the words “Sir, please I need your help.”

They were gold.

He took the arm he had pinned between his fingers and held up her wrist. It was also gold and read “Watch out.”

“No…” Sage gasped. Something dropped in her stomach. Something that burned and twisted on the inside. “It can not…”

“Yes it is, we’re bound, you and I.” He had set her down again hoping some space would help her process it all.

Sage took a few shocked steps back. “No, what would, my uncle—, my mother—!” Sage shook her head, and turned on her heel to dash away.

“Wait!” The giants voice boomed behind her, causing a pen of startled horses to brake free. They began to stampede, galloping in Sage’s direction.

Caught in the middle of the herd, she tried to fight her way out, but something hit her head, and she slumped to the ground.

Hope you enjoyed!

Fun fact: In World War one and two, they used girl guides as spys and they did a lot better than their male counterparts. I’ve always found that interesting and funny, a bit of the story is based on that.

Queen of the Sea: Excerpt #1

Kaia was fast asleep when the first cannonball smashed into the ship hull. She jolted upright at the deafening explosion, gasping as if the impact had been directed into her chest. High above, there were shouts and panicked clamoring from the crew.

Under attack, her racing mind supplied.

Her blood turned colder than the deepest pit of the ocean. Another crash made her scream, clutching at her burlap bedsheet. If the enemy was using cannons so generously, then they didn’t intend for the ship to remain afloat for much longer. It would be on the ocean bed before long, if the crew failed to defend.

Scrambling to stand, Kaia glanced mournfully at her scavenged fruit. What a waste. Nonetheless, she gathered her hook and fishing line, abandoning her spare handmade clothes and bed. Her mind raced as she ducked out of her little alcove in the musty wall. She needed a way out of not just the cargo hold, but the ship entirely.

Before she could work out how exactly she would do that, the door at the top of the stairs flew open. She swallowed a squeal, ducking behind a crate of strawberries. She didn’t dare peer out at who was coming down the stairs.

Will you ever continue your broken series? I really loved it. (If not that's cool)

maybe! i know it sucks to see that answer, but i’ve been hit with a lot going on in my life and i think i was writing that about 2 years ago? it’s hard to jump back into a work when you’re in a completely different place than you were when you were writing it. irl my field is the fine arts - and its hard to juggle expending so much energy on that and i find i have almost nothing give to my writing, which definitely breaks my heart a little. hahaha i definitely didn’t mean to give such a long answer to this - but i guess this is also a life update! i’m hoping to continue more with my “displaced” story because i’m super into high fantasy right now. just know that “broken” is def on my mind and something may be posted in the future - and thank you for your kind words and interest- i hope this wasnt too disappointing!
