Some art finally am I right. I felt I needed to make a proper prettied up painting for Anders too :* also the rest of my remaining commissions are done and will be mailed tomorrow!

People: Huur Seifer Almasy is evil and nasty and needs to die.

Me: You mean the 18 year old who was basically shit on by his superiors, had no support network through mentors, was an orphan, has clearly got some personal issues and abandonment issues as well as an intense need to be wanted and useful to someone? Who used the concept of one day finding a sorceress who would need a knight, falling in love and living out this romantic dream of finding someone who loved him, cared for him and ultimately found him useful and defending the weak as his motivation? (Don’t forget, the film Seifer saw, was a sorceress and knight DEFENDING their country, not taking over.)

The 18 year old who went to go help Rinoa because they didn’t dispatch experienced SeeDs, and actually had a very valid point that SeeDs with experience should have at least ACCOMPANIED Squall and co, (But lets face it, Cid probably thought sending new SeeDs for free for what he thought was a tiny resistance movement was acceptable.)?

Quistis: “He was so angry when he found out it was only the 3 of you dispatched to Timber. ‘What!? They might end up fightin’ the whole Galbadian force! And all they dispatch are 3 rookie SeeD members!? Dammit! I’m going to Timber!’ I never would have guessed he was serious about it.”

That 18 year old? Who was outraged that Cid had just sent 3 rookies to help Rinoa? Not only was he concerned about Rinoa, but it sounds like he was concerned about Squall and his team mates too. It can be taken as Seifer being cocky, but honestly? It’s far more likely that he thinks ‘They sent 3 brand new SeeDs to help my friend and they could end up fighting an army. Rinoa is in trouble. I need to go help.’

The 18 year old who probably only had two good friends who he trusted? The 18 year old who put Rinoa in contact with Cid off his own back and obviously believed in her resistance movement enough to do so and not fob her off? The 18 year old who was obviously nice enough for Rinoa to date and like? The 18 year old who was the first to clap for the new SeeD’s, showing them he respected them and didn’t begrudge them?

The 18 year old who came up against a powerful sorceress who could control people and offered him his entire dream on a plate? Who offered him what he longed for since seeing that movie with Laguna in it when Seifer was a child? Who offered him a place to belong where he’d be respected and wanted and needed?

The teenager who could, for all we know of, been practically mind controlled and most definitely was manipulated by a sorceress controlling someone who knew Seifer on a very personal level? That guy where it’s implied he’s mind controlled in the Lunatic Pandora with his speeches and the way he stopped what he was doing when Rinoa spoke to him? like control had temporarily stopped?

Rinoa: “……Seifer. No more… Please?”

Seifer: “Rinoa…”

[Squall runs into the room.]

Squall: “Seifer!!! NO!”

Seifer: “Rinoa and Adel! The sorceresses as one! Watch closely, Squall!”

The 18 year old who basically had no chance what so ever because no one would give him one?

The kid who’s superiors were actually really fucking unprofessional by mocking him? Especially in a military/learning environment? Who was visibly shaken when Xu mocked him and shattered his hopes of becoming a SeeD? Who was used as a scapegoat by his superiors? (And lets not forget, if he hadn’t of gone to the tower, they would of have no inkling that Galbadia were after it in the first place.) Imagine how that would feel? If one of the head SeeD’s said you were a joke and you’d never become a SeeD? Why would they let you keep taking the exam if they thought you were never going to become one? To make you feel like a fool? I’d feel like one if someone told me ‘You’ll never become [this]. Calling yourself [this] is a joke.’. I’d want to know why they were still letting me try every damn year or whatever.

Did I mention he’s 18? He’s very young and that is A LOT of pressure, responsibility and just an all out head trip for someone that young. (Don’t get me started on FF8′s child soldier thing it has going on and the PTSD a lot of them would suffer from what they do.) Seifer is a CHILD. Imagine being alone and having no family as you were growing up? Children react to abandonment very differently and some lash out, like Seifer did. Some are very emotional and at times, aggressive, like Zell, some are overly perky, some are sullen and silent, some become the parental/authority like figure they themselves needed (Quistis). Some become flirts and use sex as a way to feel wanted and a connection (Irvine). Seifer lashed out in aggression and bullying, which is practically text book for that kind of upbringing. I mean, lets face it, he went to Garden at I think 6(I know it was young)? Never adopted, made fun of by his superiors, mocked and just left to his own devices. I’m not saying that makes him being a dick okay, but it’s way more deeper than ‘Seifer is a mean poop head’.

This is a young, vulnerable man in a position of isolation and active dislike by his superiors. Quistis dislikes him, Xu dislikes him and Cid, well, I feel like Cid sympathises with him and maybe even pities him a little. But the point is, he’s a child, not a war criminal and I fully believe that he was manipulated into his position and I still believe he was, in part, mind controlled. His behaviour was too weird not to be. And if Seifer truly did want to be the knight from his childhood, he would of said ‘fuck that’ to some of the things he did as a ‘Knight’. The fact that he calls himself a young revolutionary too, just reeks to me of someone manipulating and using his own personal aspirations against him and controlling him. An 18 year old who is desperate to be loved, wanted and appreciated would be hellishly easy to gaslight, blackmail and manipulate. Why would Seifer, who admires Knights and the protection they offer, suddenly do what he did? Why would he abandon his friends, why would he attack his only home? Why would he do anything he did if not manipulated and/or controlled? I’m all over that controlled thing, because his behaviour doesn’t add up to what we know about him.

But yes. He is pure evil…totally. Uh huh. Yep. Go look at the Japanese source material. Cid actively makes an example of my boy.

Yes he’s loud and over confident, but Jesus Christ, if Seifer doesn’t cheer for himself, WHO THE HELL WILL!? Why is Squall’s cold, blunt and at times, very RUDE attitude and stance, accepted and loved by people, but Seifer? He needs to die apparently. Get outta here.
