So apparently some people new to Tumblr think a repost and a reblog are the same thing, so when they see creators asking for people to not repost, they're thinking the creators are saying to not reblog 😭

Y'all, a repost is when you copy/download the work and create a new post using the work making it seem as if it's yours. A reblog is you using a site provided feature to share the creator's post directly from the creator so that it's still credited to them and they still get all of the traction/notes from the work.

Please, reblog fics/art/etc. that you enjoy! Reblogging is not reposting! Creatives need support too, and reblogging is a way to do that!

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.

1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.

2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.

Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.

its true, they DIDNT kll thmslves. BUT. when the rumor that said they DID was going around, you still said they deserved it.

I don't think you understand how fucked up that is, Frampie. Its either that, or you do understand and you're still trying to tiptoe around getting in trouble from it.

You had ONE good point made against one of your apologies and then you closed your inbox, too. I understand that all of this is stressful to you too. But you cant just act like everybody's going to forgive you immediately, or give you a break, especially when you said that somebody deserved to kill themselves. It doesnt matter that it was just a rumor. At the time, it felt horribly true, because Lem wasnt around to disprove it at the time.

You need to apologize properly and actually make an effort to change. No bullshit. No "im sowwy fwampie messed uwp 🥺". Just apologize, normally and sincerely. And then, some people may think about forgiving you.

Its baffling people even have to send you asks like these. Honestly. Do better. I hope you read this and actually think before responding. Think thoroughly, about your actions, what you've said. Grow.
