Maybe You Can Clear Something Up For A Non-marvel Fan Whose Exposure Is Mostly Just The Movies: How Can
maybe you can clear something up for a non-marvel fan whose exposure is mostly just the movies: how can x-men exist alongside the other marvel heroes? i thought that x-men had their own lore where the whole reason they exist are because theyre mutants and fight for mutant acceptance. How can society accept spider-man as a hero but hate wolverine as a mutant?
The watsonian answer is that technically spider-man isn't a mutant but a "mutate" because he wasn't born with his powers but received them later in life from the spider bite. Yes, this is a stupid, arbitrary distinction, but it's apparently enough of one that he doesn't encounter the same bigotry as people who were born mutants, who all have an identifiable "x-gene."
Doylist answer: spider-man is about great power meaning great responsibility, while x-men is about how to deal with bigotry and oppression, so they encounter different obstacles in their stories and don't really overlap in that way very often.

I gotta say, as an autistic person in fandom, I sure am tired of 99% of the autistic headcanons I see.
Like, there's so much fucking infantilization.
People go, "No! You can't ship them! They're autistic! They wouldn't understand relationships or sex! They don't know how to give consent!"
Or they go, "Aww, my autistic baby, they're so innocent and pure and they don't know how to flirt, aren't they so adorable? They don't care about adult stuff, they just wanna play and have friends!"
And I'm just here like. Jesus Christ, you people really do see autistic people as toddlers trapped in an adult body, don't you?
Fucking begging people in fandom to speak to people who actually have autism, or even just look at the diagnostic criteria. We're horny! We fuck! We know what sex is and we can absolutely give consent! We're not pure, sexless, innocent babies! I'm going to fucking explode!
(Disclaimer: Yes obviously I'm aware that some autistic people are aro/ace and/or sex repulsed or they have intellectual disabilities, I'm not talking about them.)

The autistic fans I know are the same flavor of porn-loving gremlins who like to stay in and have asynchronous conversations on the internet instead of being expected to be witty in real time as... all the other nerds I know.
I guess 'Awkward. Doesn't like weird food textures.' isn't as exciting of a headcanon.
Botober #1: Four-dimensional objects
- A tesseract, whose eight sides are made from cubes - A pentatope, whose five sides are made from tetrahedrons - A sphere
Or more accurately, their projections into 3D space, drawn on 2D paper. Doing this felt very drawabox.
Hi ho! The torch bearer!
