beach boys is ok. i just know alex listens to the worst music ever

I thought about it after I voted and-

Yea, I legit think Alex would pull the most atrocious, out-of-pocket music using the Aux cord.

I think Tim likes Alternative/Indie music, perhaps R&B (This motherfucker would probably like Hozier-), and some softer Rock.

I think Jay would listen to anything Tim would play, honestly. Jay probably has a broad taste, okay with most things.

Jessica would probably also be in the Alt./Indie scene, but more of the softer stuff like Lord Huron, Foster the People, etc. She would probably love AURORA, too, if it was present day.

Brian is definitely an oldies guy. I'm thinking Beach Boys, Fleetwood Mac, etc. This isn't a bad thing, but he probably doesn't like to spice up his music taste all that often, much to everyone elses' dismay.

Pre-Volume 1: Billy/Teddy PART 1

There are many, many fics set in canon 616 before the beginning of Volume 1, so we’re splitting the list into several parts.

1. Secret Identity, by SmileDesu

Summary: “This only works in the comics, Billy.”

2. Believe in magic, by thekinkykat

Summary: Everyone knows how the story goes: the boys meet, they fell in love and become superheroes and best friends sometime in between. This is just one of those stories that gives a glimpse of the beginning to all that. When the flirting had still been awkward and the superpowers needed to be mastered.

3.  Love is Like Falling, by Khirsah

Summary: Teddy reached down and took Billy’s hand, threading their fingers together. The warm, gentle grip immediately derailed his words, his brain. “Sure,” Teddy said, squeezing Billy’s hand. “That sounds cool.”

“Cool,” Billy breathed.

“Cool.”

“Cool.”

Teddy squinted at him. “Are you secretly a Buffybot stuck on some kind of programming loop?”

Billy snorted, turning his face to press his forehead against Teddy’s arm. When he breathed, his lungs were filled with the incredible scent of him. “No,” he said. “Shut up, I’m just having a spaz.”

“Oh, well, in that case.”

OR: Teddy and Billy, being adorable new(ish) boyfriends.

4. The Facts, by hisboywriter

Summary: By the time Teddy found himself daydreaming about Billy, he had collected six facts and one suspicion.

5. Teenage Wasteland, by Khirsah

Warnings: NSFW, Underage

Summary: Billy leaned forward a little, watching as Teddy found a felt-tipped pen and began searching for a slip of paper. The napkins were all balled up and messy; the placemats were splattered with gravy. “Erm,” Billy said, half afraid Teddy would change his mind.

“Here,” Teddy finally said, turning toward him. He caught Billy’s hand between his own and turned it over, palm-up, his fingers calloused and warm against Billy’s smooth skin. He smelled like…like something amazing.

Oh, oh, wow, Billy thought dazedly, squeezing his knees together against the liquid rush of heat low in his belly; the glide of the pen against his palm was the most arousing thing he’d ever felt. The sight of Teddy’s golden hair falling into his face made him want to do something incredibly stupid, like lean forward and kiss him, or throw his arms around his neck, or… Or something. Anything.

6. Don’t run, by Gemenice

Summary: Being a teenaged superhero is not the hardest thing in one’s life… or the one story in which Billy’s just a bit dense.

7. All Grown Up and Still Don’t Know What (or; Billy Kaplan’s Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Life), by atti (attilatehbun)

Summary: Everything cycles back around into powers, his new powers. Powers that, by the feel of it, Billy’s really only scratched the surface of. But powers that he thinks could really do some actual good, on the right team. Assuming he doesn’t blow anything up with his mind by then.

8. How to Throw the Ball, by SmileDesu

Summary: Thinking Billy doesn’t know how to play basketball, Teddy is more than eager to teach him everything there is to learn. First lesson - body positions, with an extra side-dish of hands-on experience.

–

9.  Lazy Sunday, by Lady_Ganesh

Summary: Billy and Teddy hang out. Pre-series. Written for mixe for Yuletide 2007.

10. Birds of a Feather, by SmileDesu

Summary:“Maybe I’m just an unlikable person", Billy muttered. Teddy gritted his teeth, relating to those words more than he cared to admit.

11. It Started and Ended with Palpitations, by Nightlit

Warnings: NSFW

Summary: Billy Kaplan and Teddy Altman were together from the beginning. This is a possible story of how that came to be, as well as a take on the early days before the Young Avengers got their name.

12. Feel Good In Your Skin, by SmileDesu

Summary: Pre-relationship. In a desperate attempt to win Billy’s attention, Teddy does something quite stupid. At least it let him know Billy might not be as straight as he originally thought, and Billy was clued in on the fact Teddy was even interested.

13. The Boys of Summer, by Khirsah

Warnings: Underage, NSFW

Summary: It feels…pretty good, actually, once he gets past the reflexive embarrassment. The faint wind is cooler against bare skin than it was through the hot black cotton. The sun feels amazing against his shoulders. Billy drops his T-shirt into his lap and anxiously picks at the hem, feeling color staining his cheeks even as he refuses to look at Teddy. He’s pretty sure one look will send him diving back into his shirt, or sprinting across the field, or teleporting to Siberia or something and, wow, okay, he’s sitting shirtless next to Teddy Altman and he really doesn’t need to throw up or get turned on or anything, so his body had better behave right the fuck now.

OR: Billy is literally not cool.

14. Static Electricity, by SmileDesu

Summary: The real reason why Asgardian has a staff… Pre-series.

15. When Teddy Met Billy, by Liu

Summary: “We’ve been asked many times, Billy and me, how we met: whether it was love at first sight, whether it was the team that brought us together.

Usually, we just shrug it off and tell people ‘yeah’ to all of those questions. But the truth it, there was no flash of lightning striking us both the first time Iron Lad put the team together, no neon signs blinking right above Billy’s head, telling me he was The One for me.

The real story is a little bit longer than that… and most likely a lot more boring to anyone who’s not me. Or Billy. But, secretly sentimental as I am, I’d like to tell it anyway.”

Have we missed any? Send us a message with a link and we’ll add it to a future update!

Making this little library post with pdf's of my Jam and Bray fics for those people who really don't like ao3 so you don't have to go to the website. I understand, they have their good share of bullshit, but it's convenient af.

I'll divide them up into some categories etc etc:

SFW:

Sleepy Birds: G rated, Jam, basically a fluffy movie night fic.

Danse Macabre: G rated, Jam though more Masky/Skully - surrealistic dance in the woods. Warnings: sort of unreality stuff

Bring Me Sleep: T rated, Jam (pre-slash) - Jay stops Alex from breaking Tim's leg and gets knocked tf out, having to take Masky home who is basically an overgrown angry victorian child. Tim then wakes up to find Jay Merrick on his couch. Mild Injuries only.

Behind The Attic Wall: T rated, Jam - Tim has a nightmare about Jay becoming a slimey, feral version of his former self where he keeps him in the attic, looking for a cure. He wakes up of course. Warnings: Gross but not gorey body horror, nightmare scenarios

Slow Down, Speed Up: T rated, Jam - Jay catches up to Tim at Benedict Hall and they talk it over. Goes on into the future of their lives after Alex dies. Happy and hopeful endings of course. Warnings: EMS and hospitals, along with canon typical violence, canonical deaths (besides Jay), blood and near death experiences.

The Kiss of Life: T rated, Bray - It was all a dream trope fic where Jay drifts in and out of consciousness after being shot by some random asshole and the reactions of those around him. So much adorableness when Jay wakes up. Warnings: Hospitals and blood again, description of gun violence and injuries from such, Alex cries which hurts my heart, and of course stuff dealing with unconsciousness and false realities.

Has NSFW:

Avalon Euphoria: M rated but non-explicit, Jam - a happy reunion in a beautiful forest Warnings: Can be read as an afterlife scenario but it's left up for speculation

I Exist: M rated, Jam - Marble Hornets doesn't happen au, Tim gets a call from a distraught Jay Merrick one night. Things escalate from there with gut punching feels and self-care. Based on the song "I Exist" by Flatsound. Also Tim lives in a different house btw in the country. Warnings: Mentions of alcoholic, abusive parents, Tim having a brief, half awake schizophrenic episode.

Black Swan: M rated, Jam (tiny bit of brilex) - Long swan lake au, Tim is le swan. Only Explicit in the last chapter. Warnings: Fairytale violence, Alex's sucky aim, they kill the operator like any angry fairytale beast would, and a forest fire.

I Could Love You: M rated, Jam - after Tim's 24 hour charade in Rosswood (hell), he decides to just "go for it" with Jay because what does he have to lose? They're both very awkward.

One Week Since You Looked At Me: M rated, Jam - Jay is lost in the woods for like a whole week because he's Jay.

The Mud Tastes Bittersweet: M rated, Jam - After Marble hornets, Tim and Jay have a rocky relationship. It takes one more terrible event to bring them together. Lots of domesticity. Happy ending as always. Warnings: Claustrophobia and Suffocation, mentions of arguments, ptsd and associated symptoms/events

Iced Coffee: M rated, Bray (mentions of Jam) - Sick fic where Jay takes care of a sick totheark/Brian.

Super Explicit NSFW that I'm going to hell for:

Incidents: E rated, Jam - Incidents, as the title says. Plenty of feels with a happy ending. Warnings: Canonical character deaths (besides Jay), Tim being sad boyo

Morning Sun: E rated, Bray - morning after stuff

Who's Captured Who?: E rated, Bram - … it's just … you know … yeah.

Bottled Up: E rated, Bray and Jam - Basically Jay doesn't go to Benedict Hall when Totheark comes to Tim's house, and then of course Tim comes back early. Has a comforting end.

Heat Stroke: E rated, Jam (Skully) - After Marble Hornets, in a car, going to stop right there.
