I especially loved in HTTYD2, where Toothless is perfectly capable of taking on the Bewilderbeast himself, as an Alpha - a Titan - and yet he turns around and comes back for Hiccup. And i suspect he understands Hiccup’s words…because he always mirrors his rider in any situation, and his own feelings of ferocity towards the Bewilderbeast shock even Hiccup and it touches my little soul especially, cos he does so out of protectiveness for Hiccup
