My Favorite BMC Show

I’ve seen BMC multiple times because multiple theatre companies and high schools have done in my area. So far my favorite ( as I have not see the original cast, the off broadway or the on broadway cast ) was by a high school for reason including

1: Michael dropped multiple gays jokes

2: during I Love Play Rehearsal Christine went on a feminist rant ending it with I quote “ MEN ARE TRASH oh heck your a guy! I don’t mean your trash I think your a great but wait where was I?” And went on with the rest of the song

3 Rich did a flip in Squib Song at “ your whole life will flip “

4: The Squib was a female with an amazing vocal range who looked like Brintney Spears so one her costume was that weird sexy school girl outfit she wore in Hit Me Baby One More Times

5: Brooke was adorable and INSANELY flexible during Telephone Hour she was just casually in the spilts and also during the sending a text sending a tweet part she stuck her leg up straight up in the air.

6: Brooke instead of saying what do you think of my costume in Halloween she said “ on a scale of 2016 Beyonce to 2018 Beyonce how do I look?” Jeremy look at Squib panic and she just shrugged

7: I don’t know if this was on purpose but when Jeremy pushed Micheal out of the way he pushed him hard as in Micheal fell on the floor hard

8: Chole was perfect that’s all I have to say

9: during Micheal in the bathroom the guys voice AAAAAHHH you could see him crying the emotions was amazing ( I was in the front row so I could see the tears on his face such a talented actor )

10: I juts remembered this but Christine and Jakes chemistry was amazing!!

11: during The Pant Song ( one of my least favorite song in the show ) was hilarious. Micheal has a bong at the beginning he was getting high and when Mr Heere ask do you love Jeremy Micheal went on this really fast mumble rant thing about how he loves the old Jeremy then naming multiple things he loved about him ( all them but one being about his personality then he just kinda said he was hot ) then saying he was a asshole now. He ended it with oh shit your his dad you heard nothing well threatening Mr Heere with the bong. It was cute and hilarious

12: during the play we saw Micheal walk down the Isles of seat and sit down in the seat next to me!!! ( there was a peice on paper of the chair that said reserved ) So he started talking to me our conversation went like this ( I’m the weird font )

“ this is really good for a school play “

“ it is, do you know anyone in the show?”

“ yeah my best friend “

“ this almost too good for a school play?”

“ this is way too good for a school play!”

( the conversation about Micheal starts)

“ oh my god that’s me “

“ you should save your boyfriend “

“ he’s not my boyfriend!” I give him a look

“ go save your boyfriend!”

He gets up

“ I will “ and then he runs onstage to say Micheal Make An Entrence

13: when Jeremy ask “ you came to see me in the school play?” Micheal very sarcastically says “ no I came to see Chole of course I came to see you idiot!”

14: Christine solo in The Play was creepy as hell

15: Micheal looked so upset yet happy ( you get what I mean right?) in Vocies In My Head my poor baby

16: the cast was so sweet I got to talk to them after the show Micheal reconised me and I got his Snapchat super cool dude we are still friends. When I was talking to Christine and Brooke actress they said this was their directors last show so they just had fun with it

17: it was a small theatre program so everyone was casted but they still had about 4 girls who weren’t really parts. Three of them were really good dancer and had multiple dance solos in Halloween, Telephone Hour and Pitful Children then the other one was Madeline it was hilarious all she did was make suggestive moves and say things in French randomly ( she wore a beret )

THIS IS SO JEREMY HEERE-CORE!! SOMEONE PLEASEEE DRAW HIM IN THIS- IM BEGGING-

AHHHHH- IM SO SICK OF THE BS I SWEAR-

FIRST OF ALL-

He doesn't "act naturally" or "normal" because HE'S AUTISTIC-

Will Roland portrays him as AUTISTIC so he's gonna act AUTISTIC-

ALSOOOO- IT'S BROADWAY, BABE- THEY NEED TO BE OVERDRAMATIC AND VERY EXPRESSIVE OTHERWISE THE PREFORMANCE DOESN'T CARRY THROUGH THE WHOLE THEATRE-

AND ANOTHER THING- Jeremy is supposed to be a "loser"-

he gets bullied and is misunderstood by his peers because he is, well, NOT CHILL-

HE'S "CHALANT" AS HELL-

He gets bullied because he cares about things too much, he's anxious, he's loud-

And in regards to the "can't hold a note for too long"- have you heard Loser, Geek, Whatever? Or More Than Survive? Or Two Player Game??? Song where he holds notes for quite a long time- ALSO- to say that Will Roland can't reach the same notes as Will Connolly is just... not true.

And one of the reasons I think some people think Will Roland is "a worse singer" is because, sometimes, stylistically, Will Roland will use a sort of falsetto/head voice (which I LOVE BTW AND IM SICK OF PEOPLE CALLING OTHER PEOPLE BAD SINGERS BECAUSE THEY USE HEAD VOICE- IT'S BEAUTIFUL, IMPRESSIVE, AND REQUIRES GOOD BREATH CONTROL TO MAKE IT NOT SOUND CRAPPY AND WILL ROLAND DOES IT AMAZINGLY) like when he says "hero" and "Rob Dinero" (idk if that's how you spell it 😭) in More Than Survive.

It's not that he's a bad singer, he is taking the brunt of his voice during those parts and also, given that it's this little solo/soliloquy moment for Jeremy, I think that Will Roland's choice to use a light head voice there is perfectly well-placed. It feels kinda personal, I guess. And I love it <3

Not to say that Will Connolly's way of singing it isn't also great. It's awesome! But like, guys, we can't keep getting pissed when a new actor in a show doesn't have the exact same singing voice as the original 😭 That's just silly, guys. 😭

(LIKE WHEN PEOPLE GOT PISSED AT ELIZABETH TEETER'S LYDIA FOR SOUNDING TOO MUSICAL THEATRE-Y?? LIKE. HUH?!? GUYS, IT'S BROADWAY- WHAT DO YOU MEANNN??? Sorry, I have feelings- Also, Shoutout to Elizabeth Teeter, btw, cuz' she slayed <3)

Anywaysss- back to Will Roland's voice- he is very much capable of hitting the notes that Will Conolly hits- if not higher (IT'S NOT A COMPETION THO, GUYS- PLS DONT COME FOR ME). For example, the acoustic version of Loser, Geek, Whatever on Spotify which, I believe, is a key higher than usual!! This man can belt some high notes when the situation calls for it! And also, (these are not really bmc related but whatever) during the harmony or whatever at the end of "Sincerely, Me", that is none other than WiLL RoLaND (!!!) hitting that high E (I'm pretty sure it's an E. I hope it's an E. But regardless, it's still a SUPER HIGH NOTE) at the end! And in "Amphibian" on Joe Iconis' album titled, well, "Album", Will Roland hits some insanely high notes!!! ( EVEN IF THEY ARE HEAD VOICE. I REPEAT, HEAD VOICE DOES NOT MEAN BAD SINGER!!)

Also, as a little additional statement to my "Jeremy is autistic/ autistic-coded so Will Roland played him as autistic"; this is not to say that Will Conolly didn't add some "autistic flare", if you will, to Jeremy. I mean, just yesterday I was freaking out with my friend about a gif of Will Conolly's Jeremy doing the autistic flappy hands :))). And I think that he was a good baseline for other Jeremy's to build off of!

Also, I feel like the people that are saying that Will Roland's portrayal of autism/neurodiversity is "ableist" or "incorrect" or "too dramatic" are sorta failing to understand/acknowledge that autism/neurodiversity is a spectrum. Not every person with autism or another kind of Neurodiversity is gonna act the same. And I think that's something really beautiful that we should all cherish. It is GREAT that we are all different but also, in many ways, the same!

And to see myself and my uncontrolled speaking voice and weird noises and such represented by Will Roland on stage is such a beautiful thing that I think 'ought to be cherished.
