This was a stupid idea, Spamton thought. He was bowing his head towards the Queen’s Butterfly, Switchson Aron Addison. They were close to the Queen, hell everyone knew that.
They’re always wearing bright colors and patterns, similar to wings of butterflies or some sort of butterfly themed work.
But no one’s ever tried to court them, too many were shy and scared.
Spamton liked to think he was a confident Addison. Or maybe really REALLY stupid.
There were people whispering and gossiping behind their drinks and fans, watching for Switchson’s reaction, awaiting for an obvious rejection.
Yet the whispers became gasping and the talking became louder.
“Do you see her?”
“How incredulous!”
“And for someone like him?”
“That poor dress!”
Curiously Spamton took the risk of looking up, but was quick to realize his eyes only needed to look ahead of him.
Switchson was on her knees, fully sitting on the floor. Her hands lifted the skirt slightly up. Her top half leaned forward and down, eyes closed. All to meet Spamton at his smaller height.
They weren’t just returning his courting.
Switchson was showing Spamton that they saw him as an equal.
