i love the sheer, unbridled creativity that is present in Goncharov (1973). it's just this tidal wave of creativity (including anything from fake wikepedia articles to actual original "soundtrack" compositions, in addition to all the "analysis" and art and memes), and it's all made up & it's fun and everything has sprung out only in the last, what? 24 hours? something something about the human spirit just wants to create and share things with friends

as much as I'm not thrilled about this ending, I cannot say that my time has been wasted. I have loved every bit of the story that tommy has created. it's been full of drama, funny moments, but mostly, it's been full of love. to me, that's what matters the most. I was here when l'manberg's walls were built, I was here for the elections. I was here when they were thrown out, when pogtopia was made, when techno joined. I was here when wilbur lost his final life on the 16th, I was here for exile and bedrock bros after that. I was here for doomsday, the disc war finale, tommy's healing arc, snowchester, wilbur's revival, all of it. and all of it made me happy and had truly changed me as a person. I've made great friends, I've written so much, and I've had a lot of fun. no matter what, I am truly grateful for the awesome character that was ctommy and everything that came as a result of it. what a wild ride

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH DEPTH TO THIS?

I've gone insane.

THERES FANART. ANALYSIS OF SCENES. A WHOLE SCORE. PSYCHOANALYSIS. F A N F I C T I O N

This is genuinely internet lore in the making.

I'm intrigued and absolutely flabbergasted. I've seen it mentioned all day on Twitter but I didn't look into it until just now.

The historian/nerd in me is jumping at all the larger big pictures of how a whole section of the internet spontaneously came together to make a WHOLE FAKE MOVIE in less than 24 hours. The amount of conclusions you can make about the human experience from this is insane. IS THIS HOW THEYVE HOOKED EVERYONE!?!?!

LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING TODAY!?!?

the philosophical implications of goncharov are what grasps me the most. the entire concept of goncharov as a "lost movie" poses the question of what it means to exist, what it means to become. goncharov, as a piece of visual media, does not exist and will never be found in an archive or on a streaming service. but goncharov, the lost film, exists because a sudden, spontaneous, and largely unanimous decision was made by a unified collective that it should exist. the unified collective, prompted by nothing more than sheer will, subsequently brought forth a complete feature *film with largely consistent plots, characters, themes, motifs, and music featuring genre consistencies with other films of that type/era as well as genuine cold-war era aesthetic, musical influence, and self-reflective commentary. "goncharov doesn't exist" and yet, here it exists in just as much reality as any found-footage film (i.e. blair witch project or chronicle) that demands one believe in that which simultaneously does and does not exist, simply because it was decided that it must exist. insane.
