before he reunited with his grandma and the rest of his family, he was always so quiet but also easy to talk to and really only hung around you for he wasn’t really social

“listen,” he leaned in close to your ear, his hand still hovering over your practically bare hip before speaking lowly, “i want to speak to you after, if that’s okay?”

you nodded, still taken aback before he smiled, nodding, pressing a kiss on the side of your face before walking away.

so you hung back, only dipping your toes in the water due to feeling out of place at the commotion that surrounded you

and after everyone left, you found yourself wandering into the home where an older woman greeted you with a smile, offering you fruit, seemingly not concerned to a random girl entering her home

but then again, it seemed she knew who you were

it wasn’t long before j appeared with a small smile on his face, squeezing your shoulder and calling for you to follow him after saying hello to the older woman, “smurf”

he seemed more comfortable in his own skin by the way he talked and held himself and listened to you

he didn’t conceal his smiles, laughs, and he felt he could relax around you as you spoke and caught up with him

after that, he kept more in touch, inviting you over to family dinners and just to hang around the house

you got to know all his uncles and smurf, developing interesting relationships you never thought you’d have as they all seemed so laid back and accepting

the two of you always tried to squeeze into his twin sized bed the best you could

you spent a lot of time on the beach hand and hand, watching the sun set or rise with your head dipped into his shoulder

but that was all before you figured out what him and his family was wrapped up into

after javi and his friends broke into the house and practically drowned j and kidnapped you (for like five minutes), he taught you how to use a gun

it wasn’t really something he wanted to do, but he wanted to make sure you were safe and knew how to defend yourself

he holds your hair back if you throw up, makes sure you hydrate with water, even heats you up a plate of nachos or makes you mac n’ cheese

he never gets mad at you and if he ever is, it’s hard to tell with how silent and unreadable he usually is

this man is STOCKED with hoodies and he’s more than happy to share with you

the one thing is, he lacks having the ability to show emotion but he makes sure you know he cares by little things
