HONESTLY. God, the amount of times I have stared at my computer wondering why the scene isn’t doing what I want - especially when writing Jin. He eluded me for FAR too long 🤣

i think my favorite thing non-writers say is along the lines of “well if you’re writing the story can’t you just make the characters do what you want?”

oh, my sweet summer child. you have the naivety of a newborn baby. i love your adorable ignorance. let me lay this out for you, friend:

i am no puppet master. i am merely the person who tippy-tappies on the keyboard and hopes that something legible comes out. the characters run the show and i am at best an exhausted stage manager trying desperately to get through tech week. no listens to me. i’m a documentarian hoping to nab a good shot, you know? just…Trying My Best while the characters set the scenery on fire even though i just told them we’ll need that in act three. they do not care. and i just have to roll with it. i have never once been in control of this circus.

I…say quite a few of those….I also will literally say “you need to scootaloo” to my cats when they’re in my way and if that doesn’t tell you how white I am I don’t know what will 🤣

White girls need to drop the AAVE and bring back "AS IF!!! 😒" and "GET IT TOGETHER" like y'all were eating in the 2000s!

So for part of our holiday gift, my manager is paying for us to get professional head shot photos. We were told they would be on December 7 with a schedule of when our photos would be during the work day.

I got my eyebrows cleaned up for the first time in 3 years, I even got my chin and sides of my face waxed while I was at it. Got brand new foundation and primer, and packed my makeup kit in my work bag to apply it during my lunch break (since my photos would be in the afternoon). I have made doing sheet masks part of my *daily* nighttime routine for the past few days.

This morning I woke up at 5 am to take a shower and style my hair, taking time to diffuse it before I needed to work. I did both a sheet mask AND an eye mask this morning. I put my hair in a satin bonnet and covered that in a winter beanie to protect my hair during my commute to work. I also packed a hydrating hair mist to fix my hair from errant frizz during the day.

Right before I left my apartment we got a text that the photos were being pushed back till next week.

Apparently my M.O. for writing is now“think of all the complicated society rules for the world this fanfiction takes place in before actually writing the dang thing” because I literally spent like 45 minutes last night creating a detailed list of how soulmate dreams work in this AU 🙃🙃🙃
