Tomioka Giyuu owns a cat

And lets add GiyuShino to the mix to make it funnier asdasdasdddada

We all know that Tomioka Giyuu is disliked by many people and many animals too (especially dogs). But there’s one kind of animals that doesn’t dislike him at all: cats.

Cats actually like him a lot. Since he’s very quiet and silent, it’s very easy for cats to approach him and trust him. He’s very gentle and respectful when cats let him pet them. He even smiles softly when petting cats.

After one of his missions, Giyuu finds a lost dark-grey spotted kitten on his way back. The kitten is alone, shaking from cold and hungry, so he decides to take it with him. The kitten is so small that it fits perfectly in his breast pocket, so he lets it sleep there for the time being.

He doesn’t know how to take care of a cat, so he turns to the Love pillar Kanroji Mitsuri for advice, because it is known she owns cats (she gets very excited whenever she talks about her cats (or cats in general), everybody can hear her). She’s very happy Giyuu came to talk to her, so she very excitedly tells him how to raise a cat (she basically tells everything she knows about cats and everything she does with them). She loses him 5 minutes into the conversation.

He didn’t consider keeping the cat at first, so he’s a bit surprised when Mitsuri asks him if he’s going to name it.

“Uh? But the kitten seems quite attached to you.” Effectively, in the meantime, the kitten had grown an attachment on Giyuu and was purring and rubbing itself against his hand all the while they were talking.

So the kitten becomes a permanent resident at the Water estate. Giyuu doesn’t name it yet because he needs time to think about a good name. The estate becomes a little more livelier.

The kitten adapts itself quite quickly to its new home. It knows every hiding spot and it also started to catch mice. Whenever Giyuu is home, it doesn’t leave his side and they always sleep together.

Giyuu at first was concerned that the kitten and Kanzaburou would not get along, but they actually get along quite well. The old crow was a bit confused when they first met, but the kitten quickly took a liking on it. They’re best buddies, they play and they also take naps together.

Giyuu asks the Kakushi to keep the kitten feed and with water while he’s on mission. The Kakushi are now a bit less scared of him, appreciate him more and they also play with the kitten whenever they get the chance.

All the pillars know he got a cat (thanks Mitsuri).

Sanemi and Obanai absolutely don’t care at all (Obanai is even sorry for the cat for having such a dumb owner). Muichirou already forgot about it and Uzui doesn’t show much interest either. Rengoku loudly congratulates him. Himejima tearfully approves too, as he’s happy to know that Giyuu also likes cats. Even Oyakata-sama congratulates him.

There’s still one person who isn’t happy at all with the situation: Shinobu. She manages to keep her polite smile and congratulate him through gritted teeth, but actually she only wants to drop the topic already and not talk about it ever again.

There are small changes in Giyuu’s demeanour ever since he adopted the kitten: he’s a little less brooding, a little less apathetic. He gets a little more eager at the idea of returning home, because his home isn’t as empty as it used to be anymore. He also gets a lot more of cat hair on his uniform; Shinobu always teases him and complains about it whenever he comes in for wounds.

Only Shinobu notices the small changes in his behaviour. At least, he became a little more receptive to her attempts for conversation (and her teasing, for which she’s immensely delighted).

One day, the kitten falls badly from a tree and breaks its legs, so Giyuu brings it to the Butterfly Mansion, because he doesn’t know where else to go. Since Shinobu absolutely dislikes furry animals, it’s Aoi and the three assistants who take care of it. Shinobu still watches from afar.

“Oh, you haven’t named it yet?” Aoi is a little surprised. “Then, what name will you give it? This little one is a male.”

So Giyuu starts to ponder with the girls’ help. Although she’s not comfortable with the cat’s presence, Shinobu also wants to help, but just by looking at Aoi’s expression, Giyuu quickly understands he mustn’t let Shinobu name his cat.

(He eventually gives the kitten a decent name. Except I don’t know myself because I’m also bad at giving names sob)

Shinobu hopes its the last time she’ll see the kitten. Unfortunately for her, her girls became totally smitten with the kitten, so sometimes, when Giyuu comes to visit, he also brings the cat.

Much to her surprise, the kitten also brings them closer. Shinobu is still nervous around the cat, but Giyuu patiently teaches her how to pet it and how to behave around it. She gets to know a totally different side of him she didn’t know until now; more caring, softer, even friendlier. She still dislikes furry animals, but at least she can bear with this particular cat.

Shinobu is astounded when she sees for the first time Giyuu smile to the kitten. It’s so gentle and genuine that she finds herself unable to tease him about it. And perhaps her heart skipped a beat too.

She started keeping cat treats in her room for whenever Giyuu comes with his cat. She does not like furry animals though. She insists.
