His hair is soft, still slightly damp after a long evening shower. Greying strands slip through your fingers like silk when you comb them back, massaging the skin underneath with a gentle press of your fingertips.

Copia breathes against you, low exhales, eyes closed. His lips are slightly parted, pink and beautifully freckled. You cling to the illusion that they’re still swollen with your kisses, tasting like sleep and the summery strawberry wine from dinner.

He is out like a light, pillowed on the softness of your belly, a movie running in the background with the volume all the way down. He is more interesting, always. You want to trace the crows feet that run underneath his closed eyes, count the lashes that kiss his cheeks. Instead you continue to play with his hair to soothe him deeper.

You move from his forehead to his ear, still red from the hot water. When you brush a finger over his sideburns he smiles, perhaps subconsciously, then releases a loud snore that reaches even through the fabric of your shirt. His moustache twitches like the whiskers of a mouse, and he turns his face until his nose is pressed against your abdomen, nuzzling.

With access to the back of his head you continue to run your fingers over his scalp. He is a deceivingly sweet sleeper, letting go of his temper and sass only when his lids flutter shut. The tv flickers in the background and you find yourself closing your eyes against the intrusion, lulled by the rhythmic movements.

It is a warm night. You can hear the crickets chirping through the open window as you fall asleep with the tickle of his breath against your skin and a soft breeze on your cheeks.

papas & skincare // headcanons

so after being sneak attacked by the thought of secondo in a sheet mask (and then this brilliant post including an actual secondo sheet mask by @circle--of--confusion and taking it as a sign) i felt compelled to write some headcanons of how the papas would respond to your skincare routine.

primo.

primo would be fascinated and watch you closely as you apply every product, asking detailed questions about the purpose of each one, eager to learn about the process even if he doesn't fully understand it.

he'd occasionally offer his own suggestions like using rose water or herbal infusions with plants from his gardens. if you were struggling at all, if your skin was drier than usual, he would instinctively know how to soothe it with a simple remedy.

he would respect your process just as he values routines and rituals. he'd view it as a type of personal ritual, quietly appreciating every detail and admiring you and the care and attention you give yourself.

secondo.

secondo would be quietly intrigued. it would start with him playfully letting you dab some of your creams or serums on his face and end with him sneaking some of your fanciest moisturiser.

he'd be particularly interested in the scents of your skincare products, commenting on the fragrances and favouring those with earthy, spicy, musky tones, but he would develop a preference for those with the particular scent that becomes 'yours' in his mind.

on the nights where he finds it hard to unwind, he might ask you to apply a mask or some lotion to his face so can relax into the feeling of being pampered and cared for by you.

terzo.

terzo would absolutely be the most eager to join in your routine, enthusiastically adopting whatever you recommend, and eventually developing his own growing collection with some trendy high-end items because he heard they were "il migliore!"

he'd have a particular fondness for moisturisers and would probably end up using too much. you'd have to remind him that a little goes a long way. a problem he'd fix by playfully grabbing your face and rubbing the excess directly from his skin all over yours.

he would be alllll for regular spa nights, complete with masks, hot towels, and soothing music. a luxurious ritual that would very quickly become something else when he offers to massage you with one of your most extravagant oils.

copia.

copia would love to watch you indulge in your skincare but would be shy about it at first. his curiosity would eventually get the better of him and you'd find him picking up the different bottles and squinting to read the labels, nodding to himself as he takes a mental note of all the names to impress you with later.

he would follow things to the letter, measuring out an actual 'pea-sized' amount of something before you assure him it's okay to be a little less precise.

if he saw you stressing and down about your skin, he'd reassure you with soft kisses to the parts you're most insecure about. he'd gently encourage you, reminding you that your routine is a sacred ritual meant to make you feel good, and affirming that your skin does not define your worth or his love for you.

copia knowing you're overwhelmed and taking it upon himself to make you stop and just be with him. you try to insist that you have too much to do but he sees right through it. "no, amore," he says, interrupting your protests. he's not having it. he takes your hand and leads you to the sofa, guiding you to lay down beside him, and holds you. your head on his chest, his arms tight around you. warm. safe. the gentle rise and fall of his steady breaths bring you back to some semblance of calm.
