i'm seeing people losing hope for palestine i'm begging you seriously please don't. the death toll is high but there are still people alive, there are still journalists risking everything to make sure the world sees what is happening. please continue protesting if you have the option to, keep demanding for a ceasefire and keep talking about palestinians both alive and dead. you have to keep going until the very end or else you really did fail them.

It’s 2 AM on base and a sudden, but soft, knock greets itself to your door. When opening it, you’re faced with a peculiar scene.

Your lieutenant, Simon Riley, is standing in the doorway holding a razor.

“Oh my god.“

He huffs in response to your words, “You made the offer. You can’t back off now.“

“Gosh, I know- I know, it’s just a little funny to me.”

You let him into your room, leading him to the bathroom, getting the shaving cream from his hand and scooting him closer to yourself. It hits you he’s much too tall for you to efficiently complete this task.

Blurting out a jumble of words before acting, you jump your lower body onto the bathroom counter and find your hold there, now grabbing onto his chin with one hand, the other holding the razor.

“I still can’t believe you actually don’t know how to shave.“

“I’m gonna shove the shaving cream down your throat, soldier.“

You can’t tell if he’s joking or not, but you’ll take your chances.

With a swoop, his mask is off and you're sent face to face with Simon's eyes staring right down at you. It's not the first time you've seen him, but this time just seems different.

His facial hair has definitely grown itself out of what could be comfortable scratching up against his mask. Well, that's exactly why he asked you to do this for him. His complaints of his facial hair growing too much against his mask made him uncomfortable and drove him wild, and your kind, maybe joking at the time, offer to help him shave sent you down this rabbit hole.

"Don't leave any cuts on me or you're doing polishing on the jeeps."

"Not like anyone see's what's under there often." You retort, its followed by a snicker before you tilt his chin to the right more to get a better handle.

You blink a few times at the sight you're seeing, Simon Riley, Ghost, your lieutenant; has dimples.

"Quit the staring."

A smile forms on your face, this little detail you've notice has sent you grinning like a schoolgirl.

"I just didn't know you had dimples! " It's silent for a moment, expecting another snarky response but met with none, you continue shaving.

"They suit you, by the way."

One final swipe leaves your work on Simon's face finished, grabbing a wet cloth and cleaning up any leftover soap.

"You don't need to do that."

"Of course I do, I offered to do this for you anyways, right? This is just included."

It's quiet again. The quiet leads you to remember that it's 2 AM and you're alone with Simon in your room. You're at your most vulnerable, he's at his most vulnerable, the intimacy of standing so close and touching his face like this isn't part of any of your orders, it's just you deciding to do so.

It was his decision too. His decision to walk to your room, knock on your door, hand you the razor.

Maybe you're thinking too deeply into shaving for him, but isn't that how you've always thought about when it comes to Simon? The only person on crew who doesn't share anything about himself compared to the countless stories you hear of Soap's mother, Gaz's old job, Price and Laswell's old military stories? It's only natural for you to wonder so much when it comes to him.

"Is there an actual reason you don't like shaving yourself?"

Simon looks down at the sink besides you, watching the faucet drip water every few moments. He seems stuck on words.

"I don't like them."

"The razors? Why?"

He sighs, almost like he can't believe he's gonna explain himself to someone for once his life.

"The razors, they remind me of something bad I used to do. When I was a kid."

You stare at him for a moment before realizing.

"Oh my god.. Simon, I'm sorry."

"Don't be. It's stupid. I shouldn't be scared anymore of shit like this."

It feels wrong to you, being the one to see Simon so vulnerable and open like this.

"I'm sorry I asked. I want you to come to me if you want me to help again, okay?"

He hums in response, leaving you there to look at him. He's scared to glance back at you, not ready for your eyes to pierce him through his heart and make him second guess if it was right of him to tell you of this.

Telling you he should go now, it's nearly 3 AM and he shouldn't keep you up any longer, Simon finds himself in that empty hallway thinking of only you. Could you accept him if he told you more? It seems he only wants to tell you of these horrible habits and fears he's picked up as a child and taken to the military.

He just wants you to listen and care.
