I can happily say I'm on the list of people who talked to their parent about proship discourse and my mother was DISGUSTED, not even being dramatic here, she had a look of genuine horror on her face when I explained what proship is and how people act and treat people with the anti censorship beleif.

And of course it devolved into how the extreme "christian" (not even gonna call them legit Christians anymore because, they do the entire opposite of what their belief system is, loving your neighbor doesn't mean killing him because he likes men and then expecting thanks from the world for "ridding them of a demon", it also for fucking sure doesn't mean only nuclear families deserve to live, anyways.) people treat queers, it's really just, an endless cycle of people not understanding something and Refusing to understand because there's so much misinformation, I think they're scared to ask someone from that community for the Truth because they've been taught for years to fear them.

It's all cult leader tactics imho

Predators are not reading, they're going out and doing. They're making themselves look nice and pretending to be good, upstanding people. Predators thrive off of their image and trust, generally speaking, and tend to be manipulative and when people like that go "Oh my God, what if they read That Stuff!"

What if they do? Anyone can do anything. Literally. But why would a predator need to? And why would they admit it? Fucking Kyle Carozza was on that wave, and clearly that was all virtue signaling because look at what he was using that image for. When image is more important, abusers get by. Without accountability, they will continue. This stuff protects abusers, actually, because it doesn't give them any responsibility over their own actions, which are the problem. It's not about what they read, and when image is paramount, they get by as long as they learn how to "act good", and then lots of other, innocent people get caught in the crossfire. If "acting good" makes you good, and all you need to do is pretend, then abusers are sheltered and allowed to continue as long as they can keep up the act, and lots of other people who don't care and understand that image doesn't matter get punished. And that disproportionately affects minority groups.
