Hetalia Thoughts

Hetalia Thoughts

I am fascinated by the concept that the nation’s are both “nation” and “human” in that they are these beings of distinct selves that have to learn balance.

I like to think that they can give up their own humanity at times, that some nation’s will refuse to “be human” and engage the others that way.

This way the change between addressing a nation as their nation’s name versus their human name is significant.

Hetalia High School Staff AU

America: The young and enthusiastic Physics teacher (youngest teacher of the staff). He loves teaching, his subject and his students, and he’s always friendly and very informal (with students and other teachers alike. Some of the latter take offence at Mr Jones’s carefree demeanour). Half of the girls have a crush on him. He plays with students during school trips. Everybody would love him if not for the fact he’s not the best at explaining since everything comes so easy to him and he can’t always figure out what his students find hard.

Austria: Music teacher. He’s very stiff and stern but can’t really control his students, so he just ends up yelling at them. He’s an excellent teacher though, he has a very vast knowledge, and those who are really interested in music admire him for that and for his ability with the piano.

Canada: Young Physics lab technician (he’s even younger than Mr Jones, but he’s technically not a teacher). He’s always nice, soft-spoken and cannot truly control students, so people at first think they can trick him and fake the results of their experiment. That’s a big mistake because he always notices. With time, people will come to realize that he’s actually really good at making Physics understandable and they beg him for extra explanations before Mr Jones’s tests. He’s very upset when people (which means basically everybody) think he studied something easier than Mr Jones, when they actually have exactly the same degree and Matthew even got it in a shorter time.

China: History teacher. He seems to know everything and can be a bit grumpy, but his lessons are always interesting. Yells if people are disrespectful, but he can’t control his classes that well.

England: English teacher. He’s extremely stern and demanding, tolerates nothing but absolute silence. Formality is very important for him. A lot of students hate him, but those who study realize that he’s an excellent teacher and loves his subject. With time, he starts warming up to students who show interest and is open to chatting about the books they read over a warm cup of tea.

Estonia: Informatic lab technician. Along with Matthew, the youngest member of the staff (they’re the same age). He’s a good programmer and good at his job in general, he and Mr Jones can be seen nerding around as they talk about programming.

France: French teacher. He’s an excellent teacher but also very eccentric. He’s very friendly with his students, knows each of them by name and gossips with them about both the school staff and their love lives. (He knows every single gossip that goes around the school, too.) A great match-maker, many people have gone to him for help. In spite of his soft front, he’s actually quite a demanding teacher, and he’s prone to overdramatic tirades when people make a lot of mistakes.

Germany: The headmaster. Works extremely hard and does his best to have everything as perfect as he can. He’s just a bit too rigid to deal with all his unconventional teachers. Somebody help him.

Hungary: PE teacher. She expects people to work hard, but also wants them to have fun. Quite friendly with students. She insists on including self-defence classes into the program.

Italy: Art teacher. He’s extremely nice and can’t scold people to save his life, so many students take his class as an easy A. They’re all surprised when Mr Vargas makes them genuinely love Art, and he’s also extremely knowledgeable about it. Easily befriends students.

Japan: Maths teacher. A good and fair teacher, but he always keeps his distance and doesn’t interact with his students aside from lessons. Always seems to panic a bit when somebody wants an extra explanation, but he provides it. He’s also quite skilled at programming and always teaches some modules. This is also the reason Mr Jones, a good programmer himself, won’t leave him alone.

Prussia: The janitor. Always stops student to tell them (probably made-up) stories about his childhood, and he’s generally very loud and friendly (he will get you out of class if you need an excuse and join impromptu soccer matches in the corridors), but he also does his job very well. Everything is organized, and he doesn’t tolerate bullies, going as far as humiliating them at need.

Romano: The cook. He’s an excellent cook, but swears a lot and doesn’t tolerate wastes. Nice with girls and swear to boys, even more if he sees them being rude to girls. He always grumbles, but if people get on his good side they’ll get some extra food at need. He always has some sweets ready in case somebody faints, he knows how hard school is.

Russia: The Chemistry teacher. Quite a good teacher and very knowledgeable, but there’s something creepy about him. His tests are always very hard and he smiles as he tells people they failed. In truth, he tries to be friendly with students, he just comes across as creepy – but when they ask for help, he tries his hardest to provide it.

Lithuania: The Chemistry lab technician. He’s good at his job, everything is always perfectly organized and he’s nice with students. He’s also, however, very anxious and spends his days in terror that Mr Braginsky will blow up the lab with his carefree attitude. If he has to do any other sodium-in-water demonstration he will cry.

Spain: Spanish teacher. All his students love him because he isn’t very demanding but he’s friendly, and he turns the class into a relaxed environment and always tries new fun ways to make people learn Spanish. Gossips a lot with students, but not as bad as Mr Bonnefoy.

Sweden: The librarian. He looks very stern and everybody is afraid of him, but if people gather the courage to ask for helps he turns out to be extremely helpful and kind. He also keeps an eye on people who are studying, and if he sees somebody close to a breakdown he gives them chocolate. Still, nobody even dares to raise his voice inside the library.

Youre Not Actually The Interpreter, Alfred Doesnt Hold Back The Self-satisfied Smirk That Now Spreads

‘You’re not actually the interpreter,’ Alfred doesn’t hold back the self-satisfied smirk that now spreads across his face. After all that obfuscation and stalling, where others had failed—why, they’d caved. In the face of the massive ships with which he had boldly announced himself as a newly-minted world power.

‘Quite right. I apologise for keeping you waiting.’ There’s a trace of sarcasm tinging the elder nation’s accented but fluent Dutch. ‘You must be America.’

i’ve always wanted to draw alfred and kiku meeting for the first time.
