Run, Misha, Run(x) (x)

I was at JIB4 & now I understood:  COCKLES IS REAL AND NOTHING HURTS! Here is my story) 

Warning: this post is for Cockles-lovers only – for those of them who believe ) The rest may go home. I saw it with my own eyes that Cockles is real and I don’t care if anyone thinks otherwise. If someone simply told me about it I would shrug my shoulders too, but I’m used to believe my own eyes and my gut feeling. As for now I’m sorting through my photo-video-impressions, but I feel an obligation to write about the Cockles that I witnessed) It was on the last day of Jibcon, about 40 minutes before Misha and Jensen’s panel. By that time I was through with autographs and photo-ops and I decided to accompany my friend E-Katy to her Misha’s autograph – I just wanted to take an extra look at this wonderful man. We come to the autograph room, E-Katy takes her place in the line, and I’m standing right beside Fantasmagory who is there just for the same purpose as myself. The staff ask us why we are not in the line and I explain that we’re here with a girl who doesn’t speak English, so we’re going to interpret for her. At this very moment Jensen, who is at the table nearby, finishes with his autographs, gets up together with Daniela and heads for Misha’s table. E-Katy has already taken Misha’s autograph, and an Italian girl gets out a huge book to be signed and puts it on the table in front of Misha. The three of us are huddled together in about 2 meters from the table beside several demons who are queued towards Misha. So we have a perfect vantage point ) Actually we weren’t waiting for anything, we just wanted to drool at those two together, and as for myself, I thought Jens was about to walk past Misha behind his back and turn into the meet-and-greet room. So Jens approaches Misha from behind, leans heavily with his chest on Misha’s back and covers Misha’s hands with his own, you know like someone’s sitting and you’re hugging them from behind. We’re like, WTF? – it’s all happening in a couple meters from us… Then Jensen takes the marker out of Misha’s hand, still lying on top of him with all his weight and almost pressing Misha into the table – Misha even said “ouch”! – so obviously Jens was very heavy on him Jensen signs the book, still squishing Misha down with his body, then he rises a little, digs his nose into Misha’s hair and draws it like that from side to side a couple of times, rubbing his face against Misha’s hair. Our jaws are dropping, eyes basically popping out, and our feet seem frozen to the floor. The Italian girl who also sees all of it – by the look on her face, she’s feeling much the same as us – wide-eyed, mouth open. She’s looking round her, obviously in search of her friend. The demons are in the line, they’re puffing at each other’s napes so they cannot see any of this. As a result, only five people are the witnesses – the three of us and the two Italian girls in front of the table. Jensen goes on with his caresses. I guess he wrote something funny in the book, or he simply wanted to apologize for snatching the marker from Misha’s hand. Holding Misha’s chin with one hand, Jens presses his cheek against Misha’s. Like, sorry, I’m so sorry!.. Then Jens backs off a little, making a step back, and Misha’s looking up at him. Then they smile simultaneously, and Jens has those crinkles around his eyes, he’s literally shining. Misha’s also shining, and we’re almost swept off by the affection and tenderness in their eyes. For about half a minute they’re just looking into each other’s eyes, and, as they say, the whole world has stopped around them and only they two exist. Very meaningful glances, so much intimacy. They didn’t give a damn about us, about the staff and the Universe in general. There were literally hearts in their eyes. It couldn’t be rendered in words, even in a video – all that chemistry between them, all that affection OMG! Then Jens turns off, still smiling, and he’s shining like a new dime when he and Daniela walk past us towards the exit (i.e., he hasn’t been going to the meet-and-greet room, he’s come up to Misha on purpose! Misha’s table wasn’t on his way; he turned to Misha because he just couldn’t miss the opportunity!). And Misha lowers his eyes with a smile and starts signing the book. And here our shame begins as we’re just done. We three turn back like we’re one, then make something that can be described as three awkward steps and then we just hurl out of the room (i.e., Misha can see us and he’s perfectly aware why this three morons are clattering on their high-heels. We stop only in the hall, look at each other and then SQUEE!!! (Which of course can be heard from the autograph-room).The staff are gaping at us like we’re lost our minds. E-Katy and I, we realize that we must relate all of this to Swoon. And we must do it ASAP. Then I had a chance to learn from my own experience what Motor ass means. We (still in high-heels) rattle to the panel room, and stuff open the doors for us (usually they ask to show them the pass). We rush into the room, run to our places where we land and start yelping into Swoon’s ear, “Swoonie, Swoonie! There’s Cockles there!” But she’s meditating at Brock’s panel, so she hisses back, “Hush!” We again, “Swoonie, Swoonie!” She, “So what do you have there, Cockles? What Cockles? Here’s Brock”. And she turns off, totally indifferent. You know, it’s rather inconvenient, impossible even to sit quiet when one has a burr under one’s saddle. So, as soon as we understand that Swoonie is a lost case, we take off and head for the exit again, fly out the doors (poor staff) and just run with no aim, for the sake of running. On our way we meet the girls from the groop Vkontakte, then Kid and Giovedi, and then Winchester. We tell everyone everything that happened (shouting and squee-ing applied), then we rush to the room where I left my phone to charge. We dial up Kim_lm and RED, squee and demand that they write some entries in their blogs right away. All in all, I just didn’t expect that we, the three well-balanced grown-up women as we are, could be so bashed by the affection between two men. It’s such a pity that using camera wasn’t a possibility – Daniela was standing right there and we would’ve been kicked from the room immediately. And it’s a pity that one cannot have tiny cameras inside one’s own eyes. It would’ve been a coming-out. Do I have to add that Misha got the bracelet on his arm somewhere between the autograph room and the panel? And that Misha’s panel was delayed for twenty minutes? The staff were puttering about and shrugging their shoulders, and Matt on the scene had to entertain the audience as Cockles got stuck somewhere else. I want to say that what I saw wasn’t interaction between two friends, it was between two lovers. Jensen has a crash on Misha – do not believe when someone says that Jens fends Misha off, that he’s cold to him and is being dismissive of him in general. Jensen adores him. And how is it possible not to love Misha? – Actually, he’s very nice, humble, self-conscious, very pleasant man – one can fall in love with him heels over head, especially a top like Jensen. BTW, Swoon officially asked to say for her that JENSEN IS A TOP and that she doesn’t doubt it now that she’s seen the way they interact with each other (as for me, I never had any doubt). But what stunned us the most was that affection, that love that was streaming from them both while they were staring at each other. All in all, COCKLES IS REAL AND NOTHING HURTS! And I’m not going to persuade those who don’t believe. I saw enough! Now I believe that Jared actually whispered to a fan that he knows about Cockles. And that he actually posted the photo with wine glasses, titling it “this is what you’ve been waiting for”. And many other things. I’ll be updating this entry as all I’ve been capable of for now is this hectic report.

I just saw your Mishaleck comment. I kinda wonder at times why Jared likes to mess with Misha's balls and slap his @ss. Like he's so touchy with him (I know with others too but its seems different). But with Jensen I feel something stronger about him and Misha like there's this sexual tension or like Jensen sometimes holds back. Like Jen is so touchy with other cast/friends but with Misha its different. But I guess everyone just wants a piece of Misha. ;)

Yeah see, here’s the thing, right?  Jared is touchy-feely.  He hugs people.  He picks them up and shakes them (poor Mark) he messes with them on set —both Jim and Osric have said that he messes with their feet/legs.  Misha is the only one with balls and ass stories.

I think Jared was a 0 on the Kinsey scale until he met Misha.  Now he’s a big ‘ol bicurious 1.  Ha ha.

Sexual tension between Jensen and Misha?  What?  No way.  You’re crazy.

Well, maybe you’re right.  At one point it probably was sexual tension.  Now it’s just sexual anticipation.

I think Jensen is reluctant to touch Misha (especially at American cons) because he knows it’s not innocent.  He doesn’t think twice about touching anybody else because so what?  Nothing is going on between them.  If he touches Misha—then everybody will know!  Poor thing doesn’t realize that by not touching Misha like he does the others he’s singling him out as being different.  But then, when he does give in and things get physical—it escalates quickly.

And you’re not wrong.  I think people are naturally drawn to Misha’s magnetism.  When there are group panels, often the others will glance at the speaker or whisper to each other.  Check out this Comic Con 13 picture:

I like how Jensen ends up next to Misha

Jensen can’t hide anything from the cameras. When he’s on set, he gets a second take, a second chance to display only what he means to display (and it works some of the time), and he gets a say in what the editors keep and take away from what they caught on film. But not on stage, not when it’s all happening too fast to keep under his control. Misha takes Jensen away from that persona of his, the guy he tries so hard to be, the guy he wants his father to see, and the result of Misha’s influential presence is that Jensen just becomes more like himself. I’m just guessing here (call it an informed guess, maybe) but it must feel like such a relief for him, to finally just laugh at the things he wants to laugh at, and not constantly have to think about how to control himself and how to school his expressions and his postures so nobody sees the part of Jensen that he thinks is shameful. He’s acting all the freaking time. It’s gotta be exhausting. Misha makes Jensen lose what he doesn’t want to lose - at least not in front of an audience - which in all likelihood makes him uncomfortable and vulnerable - and oh, hey, look:

—and yet:

Conclusion: Misha puts a weak spot in Jensen’s heterosexual manly-man armour, and that weak spot is being PRODDED, STROKED and LICKED ON OCCASION.

Also, bless those people with cameras pointed at Misha and Jensen. May your batteries never die and your memory cards always have enough space to record the majestic trainwreck of Jensen’s put-upon exterior.

Cockles and UST (Part Two)

So I have a theory that Misha was crushing on Jensen first or at least more strongly than was Jensen in the beginning. At any rate, Misha’s crush is something that I noticed was written larger earlier on. 

Firstly, let’s establish that Misha finds Jen very attractive. Misha makes a lot of references to Jensen’s good looks, comparing himself in his typical self-deprecating way.

At Jibcon 3  Misha talks about recasting himself as Dean saying “we look exactly alike, no one in the audience would be able to tell’.

In 2011  he talks to MTV about how they’ve seen each other naked and Jensen would love to have his (Misha’s) body.

Of course it’s tongue-in-cheek but I think it reveals a lot about how Misha really feels, many a true word is said in jest.

Then at Chicon 2010 we get this moment, where a fan tells Jensen he’s ‘very attractive’ and Misha says sincerely “No shit, tell us something we don’t know!”

It’s obvious that Misha finds Jensen very attractive which is hardly a leap away from being attracted to Jensen.

Later, during that same panel, a fan asks a question while wearing an ‘I’d go straight for Misha Collins’ tee-shirt. Jared asks if she’s had her eyes checked and another woman (presumably a friend of hers) admits that the woman is legally blind. MIsha storms off the stage in mock disgust, but I think there was some real emotion there, and I think that he felt embarrassed in front of Jensen - note the look Misha throws him when he returns to the stage:

Now to the UST. In Part One I made the observation that these two behave like boys on the playground, (well maybe more like boys on the playground who are feeling a lot of mutual attraction).

So at Vancon 2009, a fan asks Misha a question about an article in which Jensen talks how he was a little freaked out by Misha at first, because of the way he played Castiel.  Misha responds that his first impression of Jensen was of a ‘stand-offish stuck-up prick’. Yes, Misha uses sarcasm and dry humour all the time, but this was a little intense. He then goes on to talk about how silly it is to make assumptions about an actor based on the character he plays. 

I have little doubt that if it were someone else who had made this comment, Misha would not have felt such indignation.

The feeling was apparently mutual because the very next day Jensen calls Misha a ‘whore’, completely dead-panning, and even Jared seems a little startled. Again, dry humour, little intense.

In August 2010 at Vancon, someone tells Misha about the ‘whore’ comment and Misha seems genuinely distressed, although he plays it for laughs. In October at Asylum 5 someone asks if Misha prefers Jensen or Jared and Misha responds ‘Jared’.

Now to the Heaven in Hell con with Misha and Alona Tal and what I consider to be the most pivotal early cockles moment and also the moment that speaks to Misha’s crush from the beginning. Bear in mind this con takes place the month after Jensen marries Danneel.

Here’s what happened. A fan asks a question of Alona in French and the only recognizable English word in that sentence is ‘Jensen’, so Misha jokes (before the translator can do her work) that the question was ‘What’s the texture of Jensen’s tongue?”

Apart from speaking to Misha’s preoccupation with Jensen and his mouth (Freudian much), it turns out that he’s pretty close because the fan had asked if Jensen was a good kisser. 

Then Alona leans away from the mircophone and in towards Misha and asks lowly “Have you kissed Jensen?” Now first of all, what prompted her to ask this question? This is not the kind of question you ask out of nowhere. And I don’t get the sense that she’s asking in a Jaredesque ha ha jokey kind of way either, she’s smiling, but I sense some earnestness.

Now this may have come from something as simple as a conversation between the two but somewhere along the line Misha must have expressed how attractive he finds Jensen or something along those lines, right? It’s the only way that question makes any sense.

The interpretation could be made that they had kissed, but I interpret this rather as evidence of Misha’s crush.

But the other really interesting thing is Misha’s reaction. Everyone I’ve ever seen comment on this hears Misha says “Um”; but I hear “Um, no” which is even more interesting in a totally knee-jerky panicky kind of response from Misha. 

And Misha is in fact, utterly mortified, he shakes his head, sprays the Evian water at Alona and appears to be uncharacteristically annoyed and flustered. Where is Misha’s quick wit here? Why is he so bothered when we all know that Misha isn’t exactly a shrinking violet when it comes to sex talk and entendre.

Finally, this adorable moment at San Diego Comicon 2010. Jensen makes a beeline for Misha but kisses Jim first (real subtle Jen). I see yet another example of how Jensen ruffles Misha’s feathers like no other (pun intended).

Misha’s never been bashful about kissing and hugging cast mates, but compare Jim and Misha in this gif Jim’s all relaxed but Misha looks decidedly tense about Jensen’s impending kiss. Could it be sexual tension?

How to be a supportive boyfriend: A Cockles Lesson Number 2

Cockles and UST (Part Four) Now, at last, I ask the question on everyone's lips: 'Is Jensen an incorrigible flirt?"

As key witness for the prosecution, I submit:

We see what you did there Jen, you only had eyes for Misha until the last second when you kissed Jim first. Real subtle.

Although to be fair, I don’t necessarily think that we can include this in the evidence. I don’t think this is flirting so much as it is sheer necessity.

I must call an adjournment. I’ve hardly scratched the surface and I’m out of alphabet. There’s so much more tweeting and face caressing and bottom touching to consider, not to mention photo-ops snuggles, and I’m already utterly exhausted.

Perhaps the only real conclusion that can be drawn is that Jensen can’t be fully blamed for his actions, he’s only trying to keep up with Misha!!
