Fun fact, the one movie that I can think of that cast him as an indian man is  The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen from 2003, which had bad critics but actually made ~3 times it’s budget and is quiet fun to watch.

captain nemo: *is canonically indian and chiefly motivated by his hatred for the nation that colonized his homeland, making his narrative fundamentally about the horrors of colonialism and imperialism*

every adaptation of 20,000 leagues under the sea:

You’re confusing writers with directors of shows. Writers put these things in (in asoiaf there are a lot of very detailed helmets to show who’s who even, but the only one I can remember being in the show was Sandors from the pilot), because they don’t need to worry about the readers not knowing who it is that’s being portrayed. But in shows (Got Is horrible at that, you are absolutly right, it makes no sense why no one is wearing a helmet unless they are a side character, or no hoods North of the Wall -do you want to freeze your ears off?) directors often want their characters to wear no headwear whatsoever, even if it makes more sense if they did (or if they are marking something hostorically accurate, but for some reason no-one wears any type of headwear)

because they want the actors to be seen.

Apperently they think the audience isn’t able to pick up who a character is, if their face is even slightly covered by anything. Of course watchers could tell who someone is by the rest of their clothing (Mothers Milks in the boys always wears a chain and a graphic Shirt) Or making different headwear (Jamies lion helmet in a Game of Thonres, giving Bonnets for girls differntly coulord bands)

or simply by their voice

(as if we wouldn’t know if Butcher was talking and people who can’t hear will read the subtitles anyways).

But then aagain at least in Game of Thrones they didn’t even think the audiece could keep Osha and Asha apart, even if they share no sense, barely any episodes and it’s no done in the translations of the show, because it was just stupid to rename Asha into Yara.

Also I think showrunners in general don’t know how a blow in the head works. If you are uncountious from a blow to the head you will have brain damage and not just magically wake up and be fine.

Writers be like “we’re making this world gritty and dark and realistic” and use that as an excuse for gratuitous violence and sexism and racism but still don’t make their warrior protagonists wear helmets or show their characters suffering concussions as a result of being hit in the head multiple times

P!nk’s “The King Is Dead But The Queen Is Alive” has absolute Cersei after Roberts death vibes!

I really love that last sentence!

But yes I agree it doesn’t change what he did. And it isn’t an excuse for anything, even if I am someone who supports that theory that is wasn’t for lust and that Rheagar was actually planning to overthrow his father, but that doesn’t make it any better that he took Lyanna.

If anything it makes it a lot worse. The guy knew that his father was insane, let his wife and children stay as hostages with him (don’t tell me at least some of the kingsguard would have gotten them out) and then go after Lyanna in a Kingdom of the brink of war.

I made the horrible mistake to look into the Elia Martell tag on tumblr looking for some nice fan theories about her, but my god people do not know the canon.

There are so many people mixing up show and book canon, and no Lyanna Stark isn’t the sole reason why they started a rebellion.

Brandon Stark went into the Red Keep and loudly announced to kill his crown prince. Rickard Stark asked for trial by combat and got fire as an opponent and Brandon stangeld himself trying to save his father. And then Aerys demanded Ned and Robert’s heads from Jon Arryn. And Jon Arryn said no. That’s the start of the Rebellion. Legitimatly Aerys had the right to kill the Starks who came to kill his son. Definitly not in the way he did, but you can’t just come into the Red Keep and say you’re going to kill your crown prince and expect it to go well.

Neither can you just abduct a noble woman, epecially a promised one, even if you are the crown prince and expect her family and finance to be fine with that.

And people blame Lyanna and Elia for what happend. The two persons who died because of this while being innocent. And no Lyanna is not at fault, even if the show says the were in love she was 16 at best.
