The weather is unusually mild for this time of year, something that Viktor is silently thankful for.

The summers can be unbearable, the heat stifling, and the dust lying in a thin layer on just about everything in his clinic.

Today, however, it’s mild - the sun hidden by an abundance of clouds in the sky and the heat chased away by a cool breeze that flows through the open windows.

Viktor sighs as he shifts in his stool, scribbling down the name of another salve on the shelf in front of him.

Inventory.

A task that most people hate but he finds soothing. Cataloguing, counting, and labeling various medications, salves and other items necessary for one’s health and healing. Surgical supplies too - something he notes he’s running low on after a larger band of vaqueros had come through the town earlier this week.

His lips quirk upwards at the memory, the large group of companions reminding him of his very own vaquero who’s away on a longer cattle drive.

Jayce.

He still remembered when the large cowboy had stumbled into his clinic, barely standing if not for the two men supporting him on either side. All of them spewing Spanish, a language he just barely had a grasp on at the time.
