Hybrids aren’t allowed to own property or to have legal partnership with humans, so the only way they’re able to do things like rent an apartment or get a job is through their human owner.

The call center that you work for is an anomaly and part of the reason you’d started the job. The owner is what they call a hybrid enthusiast and as a result most of your coworkers were hybrids. In fact you’re one of the only humans working at the office.

You don’t know if Jimin, a fennec fox hybrid that you’d met at the park, would like the idea of ownership, and to be honest, you didn’t like it much either. You’re so lost in your own thoughts that you don’t even remember the bus trip home, coming back to yourself when you unlock the door and kick off your shoes.

Jimin is lounging on the couch and he looks up at you with a lazy smile before his nostrils flare and he stands up, his shoulders stiff.

“Jimin?” You frown, looking at him, and then he wraps his arms around your waist, sniffs up your neck, making you giggle.

When he pulls away his long ears are twitching, his nose scrunched up. “You smell like dog,” he says in a low voice.

You think about reminding him that he’s a canine himself, but instead you tilt your head, confused. “Oh! My friend Seojoon-”

“You’re supposed to smell like me,” Jimin cuts you off, still frowning, and goes back to sniffing up your neck, this time licking along your pulse instead.

“Jimin-” you gasp, goosebumps popping up along your skin.

“Why do you smell like dog? Who’s been touching you? Who’s been sniffing around my vixen?“
