‘the day we’ve all been waiting for has finally come’, you thought to yourself as you stared in the mirror; eternally grateful to the boys you see standing behind you, doing the same.

you really couldn’t tell if they were proud of their hard work or the results.

your eyes met the sunlit forest behind mao’s gaze when tsukasa interrupted you with a soft pat on your shoulders, “we should get going now or we’ll be late.”

your eyes snap over to his and you find yourself nodding slowly, looking back over at mao who gets up off your bed with kohaku in tow.

mika and leo bid you good luck with a hug and words of encouragement by the car then wave you off.

now, it’s just you, tsukasa, kohaku and mao (tsukasa and kohaku who actually got invites, and mao who is your +1 since natsume said you could invite someone for moral support, if you so wished. ‘my mother is a special case, so you might just need it’, as he put it. to not raise suspicion he will officially be presented as kohakus +1, though). you and your boys against the world, as always.

with a quick text to natsume to let him know you’re on the way, you tell yourself there’s nothing to worry about, everything will be just fine. the 5 eccentrics and your boys will be there, what could possibly go wrong? with that you zone back into the current conversation.

“-’s absolutely no way i’m gonna get along with mr. strawberry top, like, ever.”

kohaku rolls his eyes, “ya said th’ same thing ‘bout leo n’ look at ya now. yer like brothers.”

“we are not!”

“you totally are,” tsukasa joins in at that, “ousama said so himself.”

“they’re right, you know. you and leo bicker exactly how you and haku do. denile is a river in egypt, mao.”

the redhead turns around in his seat to look at you while huffing, “can you stay out of it?! or stop with the clock app jokes, at least?”

there's a chorus of laughs while mao returns to his seat with his arms crossed. he knew he should’ve stayed home.

natsume sakasaki and his mother were busy greeting the guests slowly piling into the building which was decorated with silky maroon and white ribbons and roses. with each passing unfamiliar or familiar face and quick pleasantries, the redhead grew more restless waiting for your arrival. 

he simply couldn’t wait to see you.

he engaged in idle conversations with some of the guests when his mother beckoned him over, only to smile bashfully at their praise and act like he wanted to be there.

then, in his peripheral vision, he saw a familiar pink haired man step out of a fancy car. he found his head turning at lightning speed to confirm if what he saw was right. to his delight, it was.

“sincerest apologies, my most awaited guest has just arrived. please excuse me,” he spared a glance at his mother who smiled at him in turn with a knowing glint in her eyes. he turned to speed walk to the entrance and down the stairs, where he met with kohaku and tsukasa.

“hello, good evening, i’m glad you could make it. natsume sakasaki, pleasure to make your acquaintance,” said the redhead with a fancy little bow to give them the good old ‘razzle dazzle’, as wataru taught him back in the day.

“tsukasa suou of knights, but i’m sure i don’t quite need to introduce myself. this is my distant cousin and member of crazy:b, kohaku oukawa.”

“pleasure t’ meet ya.”

natsume spared a smile at the relatives. they did look quite alike, now that he sees them next to each other. he was familiar with tsukasa, and kohaku seemed nicer than he first assumed. 

a second later a confused frown grazed his expression. he couldn’t see you or mao anywhere.

“they’ll be out ‘n a second. y/ns’ mentally preparin’.”

just as kohaku finished speaking, the doors on the other side of the car opened and out stepped mao, who closed his door and walked over to yours, helping you get out and linking your forearms together– as if he were your partner for tonight, natsume observed.

his plotting of mao’s downfall came to an abrupt stop when his eyes landed on you in the maroon dress you sent him a while ago. the dress was gorgeous in itself, but on you it looked absolutely breathtaking. 

perhaps he was simply biased, but the beauty of the dress fades in comparison to yours.

for his current lack of coherent words– or perhaps the excess of ones caught in his throat, ones he’s too afraid to utter– he finds himself simply nodding a greeting to mao, and staring at you with what is almost akin to hearts in his eyes.

“good evening, sakasaki. nice party you got going,” mao nods in response, only to promptly get elbowed in the ribs by tsukasa, causing him to let go of his hold on you to rub his aching side, “dude, what the fuck?”

“i thought i told you to behave like a human being.”

“ya were expectin’ too much from an avid y/n fan.”

“okay, first of all, rude–”

you whacked all three of them upside their heads as a warning, then turned to natsume.

“hi, i hope we’re not late..?”

“just.. just on time, actually. um, let’s–let’s go inside, shall we?” he offered you his forearm, which you happily linked yours with and flashed him a gorgeous grin.

when you started walking up the stairs you turned your head back slightly to glare at your friends over your shoulder.

tsukasa let out a sigh, mao shivered, and kohaku simply continued looking around as if he were innocent.

this is gonna be a long night.
