Kagome is never a girly-beauty-queen in canon though…? Or is this strictly referring to how the fandom portrays her? In canon, Kagome is a “normal japanese girl”, I’d say. She has proper manners and her clothes are feminine, however compared to others, she has a high sense of justice, isn’t scared to say what she’s thinking & is ready to fight for her friends.

Exactly!! I feel like lately I’ve come across so much gussied/perfect marysue Kagome in the fandom. I was just missing my hot-headed, imperfect girl.
