PART I. OCTAVIA –

It was just four months ago when Ashcroft University in Edinburgh, Scotland was shaken by the murder of young Octavia Preston. Octavia was pretty, popular, well-liked, and she was also a member of the Imperium Society.

The Imperium Society is a group of students who take a special extracurricular class that serves as a humanities class, studying psychology, sociology, the classics, history, among other topics. Those in the Imperium Society have a 100% career success rate and often go on to be some of the world’s most powerful leaders. 

The close-knit group was splintered by Octavia’s murder, not only because she was a close friend, but because her killer, Lysander Griffith, was also a member of the small fourteen-member group. Lysander was Octavia’s boyfriend, and when an autopsy showed that Octavia was pregnant with someone else’s child, all of the chips seemed to line up. Lysander, the jealous boyfriend, lost his temper in a fit of rage. His younger, pregnant girlfriend was his key into high society and she was LEAVING HIM. When they discovered Lysander’s father also had a history of abuse, it was pretty open and shut, especially considering the Griffith family didn’t have the elite connections most other Ashcroft students would. They hardly bothered to question anyone else. “It’s always the boyfriend,” police said.
