Companions In Arms.

Companions in arms.

Jimin and Jungkook will come back even closer than they already are. This experience in the army will be like no other for them. Training, fighting next to someone deepens any bond already existing to something else. It’s a mark which can never be erased.

We are talking 18 months of sweat, tears, pain, laughter, joy, frustration, etc. Positive or negative emotions, they’ll live it together.

They will forge new memories, jokes, understanding which belong only to them.

Jimin and Jungkook basically said, if I’m going through this, I’m doing it with the only person who knows how to keep me sane, to cheer me up and would walk through fire for me. There is no way to downplay this.

Antis can just eat their heart out, how can they doubt that those two love each other?

LET'S MAKE SOME BAD DECISIONS

LET'S MAKE SOME BAD DECISIONS

Truthfully, I haven't been following the conversations/takes on here or on twitter so I don't know what's been said or what hasn't been said.

I think for me, the moment it was announced they were all leaving and then the announcement that Jungkook and Jimin were enlisting together, I kind of checked out.

A part of that, as many know, had to do with my devastation and sadness at the reality that was awaiting the guys. In hindsight I had known this was coming, I thought I had years worth of preparing but nothing really is as it seems until it's here.

The very few brief moments I did see things about Jungkook and Jimin's choice to enlist together it was more so conversations about their relationship that were overtly romanticized. And while those conversations made sense in their own way, for me, there was a component that had yet to be discussed.

See I've mentioned before that I don't really place age as an overall basis for if someone is smart or not, ageism is not a tool I like to exercise unto people and it brings me no warmth or happiness to enforce my age "I'm older than you I know better" to in any way validate my point, because I know people who are older than me who never grew up from that high school drama mentality. Age does not always equate wisdom, but maturity does.

And for me, at least, the conversations that I had sort of seen when it comes to Jungkook and Jimin's bond, do come from a place of immaturity. Putting significance into fighting tkkrs to prove Jungkook and Jimin's bond is real, when nothing they say invalidates Jikook's bond, is reminiscent of someone that has not been exposed to real life issues or hardships. I don't look down on that level of naivety, in fact I hope people can keep that youthful mentality as they grow and learn more.

But when it comes to making life altering significant decisions, I don't trust that someone who's immature to really grasp the level of importance some of these decisions make.

Yes, in theory we get that Jungkook and Jimin made this choice, and using this as a tool to prove your haters wrong is feels like it's more about someone's pride than the actual two people that enlisted. But I digress.

LET'S MAKE SOME BAD DECISIONS

The reason I bring this up it's because this has been sitting on my mind lately, about their decision.

It was a choice made by two people - but it wasn't a rash choice made in the last minute. Given the details that were shared, the process and the various hoops they had to jump through, it seems like it was not only emotionally taxing but also one that was in a lot of ways, out of their control. It's harder to be optimistic about a future decisions when you're not the one who's in charge of the outcome.

Which brings me to my point. This decision was one that probably contained uncertainty, as well as planning for an uncertain future, conversations surrounding what that would look like, not only as idols, friends, band members, co-workers, and two people with a very strong bond, but as a family.

I can't help but think that their families weren't taken into account when this decision was made, as having their full support probably helped them during the arduous decision making.

So it seems equivocal to me why these discussions of if they or if they didn't make the decisions together have some sort of importance. Because clearly the answer is yes, but the immaturity that comes along answering that is what prevents people from grasping the significance of it.

The closeness of those two families should be indicative of how important that bond is, and it's not meant to lessen the other bond with the members, but it does speak volumes to their autonomy. If someone says "oh jungkook was forced" and what not, it would still be a meaningless statement considering that he was a willing participant who filled the forms out, potentially went through a screening, and interviewing process, who had the support of his family, to go through with enlisting with someone he clearly seeks warmth and comfortability from. That doesn't sound like someone who was forced into enlisting with Jimin.

And if we deepen it, by continuing to fight with people who believe that he was coerced into this decision, not only is it a fruitless endeavor, but it keeps on highlighting the most basic issues with all of this, and that is that they see Jungkook, Jimin and Tae as mere puppets who do what a company says and not what they want to do.

And we've discussed this (meaning me and people in this blog space) that the depiction of a skewed romance between star-crossed lovers who are pulled apart by their evil music company and their best friend, shows us how pitiless they see Jungkook and Tae. If they see them in a light where they can't even make decisions on their own, then doesn't that debunk the fact the narrative they've been expressing all along? that the company keeps them apart?. wouldn't it also be true then that unless the company tells them that it's ok to date each other, that they would never breach that connection UNLESS the company deemed it so.

LET'S MAKE SOME BAD DECISIONS

At some point we have to look at Jungkook and Jimin as the mature and grown up men that they are and not the teenagers they used to be.

They're capable of making their own choices, choices that are not influenced by anyone other than themselves, and are supported by their families.

I see those two and the deep connection they have with one another, but also how intertwined they are in each others personal lives, from "my grandma's birthday" to "my mom made seaweed soup for your birthday" to "I love you Jimin-ah" to "Jimin's mom's Kimchi is so good", there is no doubt that those two have a life where their bond transcends past band mates and only they know the full extent of it.

I've been wanting to share that because people always rag on those who see fighting as pointless, considering that it costs time and sometimes money for these people who get their accounts back/make new ones, if their old ones get taken down as opposed to giving it interactions. I see a cycle that doesn't end, and if thats what makes people happy, fighting and what not, then good for them, it speaks to levels to their immaturity imo, and the potential harm that could possibly bring to someone, but while I accept the flaws in others then why can't we all accept our different ways of living?.

Peacefully I want to curate my life and energy in a way that it flows to the universe so that I do my job Karmically, and physically (by reporting) to clean the world from squalor. It's why I make it a rule to personally not fight with antis bcs of the fact that I was once a bts sh00ter, (and a really fucking good one) for years, and I know first hand how that form of action is never a solution to a problem.

Based on the decision that BOTH jungkook and jimin made, with their families support, a decision that has significant impact on their future and how they proceed after this, then I think the gravity of the case is more meaningful than the minute mentality that they're in a relationship, because regardless of it they are or are not, that point is moot, the important thing that matters is that a conscious decision was made in the first place.

I really think that deep down, all of the alternative narratives for Jikook’s companion enlistment being floated about - that this is a continuation of fan service, that they were asked by each others’ parents, and so on - come down to knowing that Jikook had to be close the whole time even without cameras present, and also understanding that this experience will weld Jikook together. There is going to be a whole host of people and experiences that they alone will have in common.

Imagine the rainy day story; a situation that only Jungkook remembered at first. The care he gave in picking the details to remind Jimin, the complete focus on Jimin’s reactions as he told enough details to spark his memory. He ignored everyone and everything in that room, even the camera, just watching Jimin as he slowly remembered what Jungkook wanted him to. No one else existed in that moment, not his five other precious hyungs, because this was a story for Jimin alone.

Now, imagine there will be 18 months worth of those memories.

Jungkook’s military pals? They’ll be Jimin’s too. That Captain from hell? Jimin remembers the tenor of his voice as well as Jungkook. The best or worst meal, that terrifying day in summer when NK acted up, the auntie from the store who always flirted a little with them. Jimin knows because he was right there.

These stories are theirs alone, and that must be terrifying for tkks and solos. Because a member did mean enough to Jimin and did mean enough to Jungkook to go through the process of paperwork to enlist together, to develop these 18 months worth of memories….and it wasn’t the person they wanted Jikook to choose. That is scary for the false narrative some of these “fans” have created.

bpp lately i’ve been obsessed again with autumn leaves. it’s like i’m hearing it again for the first time and god damnnn ITS A MASTERPIECE i wanna kiss yoongi’s brain

***

You and me both.

Like many BTS songs, Autumn/Dead Leaves is a track you can come back to at any time and it still hits just as good as the first time you heard it. For your ask Anon, I tried looking up an old forum where I'd discussed the album when it was released but it's deleted now. So I looked up Reddit (since I was active on the platform back then too), to see if any discussions were still up and yeah, that thread is still there (linked here) and you can see for yourself how the reaction to the album, and to Autumn Leaves specifically, is overwhelmingly positive from both ARMYs and k-pop stans.

That's what happens when you make good music. And that's all Yoongi knows how to do. I love how he highlights the vocals on this song, especially Jimin's.

The world needs BTS back man. We need those men back making music together.

It would set everything right again.
