where: yizhuo yn and park sunghoon were not only a couple, but the bestest of friends, an inseparable pair; both deeply in love with each other. a love as intense as their personalities. despite their deep connection, they were young and ambitious, and the pressures of life pulled them apart. the couple mutually decided to break up, hoping to carve out their futures separately. ¿what happens when they inevitably end up in the same friend group again? ¿will they fight for the once strong bond or will they continue their lives separately?

the sun was barely up when yn arrived on campus, the unfamiliar sight of the university building looming in front of her. she took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. it was just another day, she told herself. her first day, not a big deal. just another day at uni. but deep down, she knew it wasn’t. not after everything that had happened.

she had tried to prepare herself all weekend, going over the possible scenarios in her mind, but nothing could fully calm the unease bubbling in her chest. today wasn’t just about classes or catching up with friends; it was about facing him. sunghoon.

the thought of seeing him again made her stomach twist, but she had to push through it. this was her life, and she decided to come back to it, she wouldn’t let her emotions get the better of her.

as she walked through the corridors, she was greeted by unfamiliar faces, some smiling, some giving dirty looks, at the new face in campus. all seemingly oblivious to the storm brewing inside her.

as yn approached her locker, she saw winter, karina, and giselle waiting for her, their expressions a mix of excitement and concern.

“hey, there she is!” winter greeted with a wide smile, pulling yn into a big hug. “how are you feeling, pretty girl?”

“ready for anything,” yn replied, forcing a confident smile. “let’s just get through today, yeah?”

karina nodded, looping her arm through yn’s. “we’ve got you, girl. no matter what happens.”

“let’s just stick together, and everything will be fine.”

they walked together to their first class, trying to keep the conversation light, but the tension was palpable. yn knew they were all worried about the same thing—what would happen when she and sunghoon inevitably crossed paths.

the lecture hall was buzzing with chatter as students filled the seats. winter, karina, and giselle found their usual spot near the back, away from the professor’s direct line of sight.

just as she was about to focus on the lecture, the door at the front of the room opened, and in walked sunghoon.

the room seemed to go silent, even though the chatter continued. sunghoon’s eyes scanned the room briefly before landing on yn. for a moment, everything else faded—the noise, the people, even the professor standing at the front.

their eyes locked, and the world stood still.

sunghoon’s pov.

As Sunghoon walked into the lecture hall, he couldn’t stop his eyes from searching for her. It was almost instinctual at this point. And then he saw her—YN, sitting with her friends at the back, her expression unreadable.

His heart skipped a beat, but he quickly composed himself. This was what he had been dreading and anticipating all weekend. Seeing her again, being in the same room, pretending like nothing had happened between them—it was a lot to handle.

He could feel the tension in the air, but he forced himself to move, taking a seat at the opposite end of the hall. He knew YN had seen him, and part of him wanted to go over, to say something, anything, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Not with the way things had ended the last time they saw each other.

end of sunghoon’s pov.

yn felt her heart pounding in her chest as she watched Sunghoon take a seat far from her. the distance between them felt like a physical barrier, one that neither of them was ready to cross. the lecture started, but yn couldn’t focus, her mind replaying the moment they locked eyes.

it was like being pulled back into the past, every unresolved emotion threatening to bubble up to the surface. but she couldn’t afford to let it show. not here, not now.

giselle leaned over, whispering, “you okay?” yn nodded slightly, not trusting herself to speak.

the lecture ended, and students began to file out of the hall. yn gathered her things slowly, waiting for the room to clear out. she knew she couldn’t avoid Sunghoon forever, but right now, she needed a moment to herself.

as she stepped into the hallway, she saw sunghoon leaning against the wall, seemingly waiting for someone. their eyes met again, and this time, there was no escaping it.

“yn,” he said, his voice soft but firm. she hesitated, her heart racing. “sunghoon.”

they stood there, the hallway bustling with students, yet it felt like they were the only two people there.

“i—” Sunghoon started, but before he could say more, yunjin appeared, interrupting the moment.

“there you are, sunghoon!” yunjin’s voice was bright and cheerful, completely oblivious to the tension between them.

yn took the opportunity to slip away, not wanting to deal with any more awkwardness. as she walked away, she heard Yunjin’s voice behind her, clearly talking to sunghoon, but she didn’t turn back.

she needed space, time to think, and most of all, she needed to figure out how she was going to survive her life with sunghoon so close yet so far away.
