(This made me so happy to write. This is actually based off of a headcanon I have about Alex. Try to guess which song they sing at the end!)

Special Interests

The newly risen moon shined through Alex’s bedroom window. Peace and quiet filled the house as the feline Veldigun walked into their domain. Their ears twisted and swiveled around, trying to pick up any slight sound. Luckily, nothing was heard or seen. Alex sighed heavily before bending down beside their bed.

Claws clicked on the ground as they tried to find something very special to them. Feeling the sensation of leather, Alex made a soft, yet excited, mew as they pulled the item out. It was a leather guitar case. The case was beaten and worn, but they didn’t mind, Alex unhooked the hinges before lifting up the lid.

There, they found their beloved acoustic guitar. The strings soon needed to be replaced and the body needed to be shined, but it was otherwise fine. Alex lifted up the guitar and examined. “Glad this old boy survived the move.” They examined the old instrument and took the metal pick that they had tucked into the strings when they last played it.

Sitting on the bed with the guitar in their hands, Alex sighed before playing the instrument. They had tuned it recently, so it didn’t need it for this round. They found themselves playing the intro of Tesla’s Love Song, which was incredibly beautiful to their ears yet also very complex. Humming along with the tune, Alex closed their eyes as their claws picked at the strings.

“Hey Al-“ Spector creaked the door open, facing their partner’s back. Luckily, Alex didn’t notice their beloved partner entering the room. Instead of continuing what they were about to say, Spector just listened to the heavenly music that came from Alex’s guitar. “Woah…” Spector whispered as they intricately watched their partner.

Moving closer to Alex, Spector gently crawled on the bed to hopefully get a closer look at Alex’s playing. They watched their partner’s claws move seamlessly across the instrument, but what really caught their eye was Alex’s expression. They looked like they were in their element. Spector had only seen this expression when both of them went on dates or cuddled, so they knew that music meant a lot to them.

When Alex was done playing the melody, they looked over at their partner. This caused the feline Veldigun to jump slightly. “Oh! Spector! I didn’t notice you there…” They said with an embarrassed chuckle, clutching the neck of the guitar close to their chest. Alex fidgeted nervously with their claws and the strings of the instrument. “Why didn’t you tell me that you could play?” Spector spoke softly as they stood up, looking at Alex with a warm expression.

“Well…I’m not that great. Plus, it’s just a hobby. Nothin’ to write home to mom about.” Alex said, fidgeting even more with the instrument. “What do you mean? What you just played sounded wonderful! Even if you weren’t good, I can see that you’re passionate about it, so why would you hide something you love?” Spector walked closer to their partner, gently sliding their claws on the strings. “It’s just nothing special. It doesn’t really matter.” Alex shyly smiled before a sorrowful expression grew on their face.

Spector immediately recognized this look. They made this exact look the first time Clyde shoved them and their interests away. “Alex…I think it matters.” Alex’s ears immediately drooped before sighing and sitting back onto the bed. “Sorry…I just didn’t want to annoy you with my frankly useless knowledge on music.” Spec tilted their head. “Alex, you let me ramble about my hyperfixations all the time! I would have no problem listening to yours.” They gently took their partner’s hand. “I’m guessing no one wanted to listen to you before?”

Alex shook their head with a somber look. “No. I didn’t have any siblings and they parents always gave me the excuse that they were too tired to listen to my nonsensical rants. So…I just thought it would be better to keep it to myself.” Spector nodded, understanding their pain. Before the war really started, Clyde would listen to their ramblings, so they knew how good it felt to have someone to listen to. Yet, they also knew that it hurts to be denied that chance to express themselves.

“They aren’t nonsensical, Alex. It’s just who you are.” Spector looked at the worn down instrument. “How long have you been playing for?” A smile began to form on Alex’s face. “Years. Over a decade even. I believe I got this thing when I was eight. I know I should replace it, but I didn’t have the money for the longest time.” Spector tilted their head and grinned. “Your experience shows. You’re really talented, man!”

Alex laughed softly as their tails swayed, making Spec blush slightly. “Thanks. That actually means a lot to me.” Spector wrapped their arms around their partner. “No problem, critter.” Then, they kissed their Veldigun partner.

A few weeks passed since that conversation. Spector would have to get Alex to talk about their hyperfixations in order for them to do so. Turns out, they had a tendency to love certain things just like Spector did. Alex delve deep into any interest that they had and music seemed to be their strongest one. So, Spector decided to give them a little surprise.

They had ordered something online, so they had to wait quite a bit for it to show up. Spector knew they couldn’t just go out and get it. People would get suspicious of their appearance! So, this was the safest bet.

Then, it arrived. A large package was dropped off on their doorstep. Spector waited for the mailman to leave before slinking outside to grab the package. Package in hand, Spector carried it inside and ran into the bedroom. They wrapped the package as quickly as they could. Soon, they heard Alex drive into the parking lot.

The front door opened as Alex quickly changed back into their Veldigun form. “Spector? You home?” They called for their partner, shutting the door behind them. Some shuffling from the bedroom confirmed their suspicions. Alex grinned as they walked over to their bedroom. “Spec. I know you’re in there.”

Spector almost panicked before opening the door, immediately wrapping their arms around their partner. “Evening, Alex!” Spector gave them a little forehead kiss. “I got something for ya!” Alex tilted their head and petted them. “You did? How sweet. Thank you.” Spec gently took their partner’s arm and took them over to the bed.

Alex sat down and lovingly watched their partner. Spector hopped over to the closet and took out the wrapped box. They took the box over to their partner and set it in their lap. “Oh, Spector. You shouldn’t have.” Alex spoke gently as Spector sat down next to them. “Hush. After everything you’ve done for me, and many other people, you deserve something in return.”

Alex smiled warmly as their claws gently tore into the wrapping paper. They ripped it off with ease before using their claws once more to cut the tape on the box. Spector watched excitedly as their partner opened the box. What greeted Alex nearly made them gasp. A sleek, leather guitar case greeted them. They gently took the case out of the box, realizing that there was a heavy weight inside.

Being incredibly gentle, Alex unlocked the case and opened it. A shiny black guitar greeted them as it shone in the light. The strings and body were brand new and the neck and machine heads was incredibly stable on the body. A brand new pick was tucked in the strings.“Do you like it?” Spector grinned as they watched their partner hold the guitar. Tears slowly started to fall down Alex’s face. “It’s…It’s beautiful.”

Alex turned to look at Spector. “You…You did this for me?” Spector nodded before hugging their feline partner. Alex buried their head into Spec’s shoulder and cried. “Thank you. Thank you so much.” Spector patted them on the head, knowing that Alex wasn’t used to people doing stuff for them. “It’s no problem, little critter. I just wanted to make you feel special.” The partners broke away and Alex smiled. “You certainly have.”

The feline Veldigun looked down at the guitar before setting it up in their lap. Spector’s tail wagged excitedly, knowing what was going to happen. Alex then began to pluck at the guitar with both their claws and the pick. A beautiful melody rang out throughout the house. This melody was soon joined with wonderful vocals.

“It always feels more quiet…in the dark. It always feels so stark. When silence grows under the moon…and it’s always gone so soon.” Alex’s voice sounded mystical to Spector. They already had a unique voice, so their singing sounded just as unique and beautiful. Spector happily listened to their partner, loving their passion.

Alex’s face turned to one of shock when the other Veldigun told them to basically lore dump on them. Truth be told, they’ve only ever done that with Spector, Winfrey, and Mortimer. Nobody else ever wanted to listen to them.

“You…want to listen to my story?” They asked with the tilt of their head. The other Veldigun nodded, a yellow toothed grin appearing on their purple face. “Why wouldn’t I? Your story seems to be much different than mine.” The other Veldigun looked thoughtful for a minute. “Maybe yours is one of the more unique ones here, but that’s just a guess.” Alex nodded, taking a look at their drink. “Probably.”

Then, they proceeded to tell them a decent amount of their story. The Hijacker, whose name they recently found out to be Vincent, their relationship with Spector, and how the raid went. As they spoke, Alex noticed the other Veldigun growing more and more excited with each statement.

“Wow…our stories are VERY different.” The other Veldigun stated as Alex finished their story. “How so?” Alex asked with curiosity. “Well, I’m actually dating this wonderful woman named Claire in my world and Dr. Lankmann is actually a human! He doesn’t have a twin sibling either. Though that would be interesting.” The other Veldigun replied nonchalantly.

Alex looked at them with wide eyes. “Herbert was a human?! Jeezus…wonder what they looked like.” The other Veldigun shrugged. “Imagine his face was melting off.” Both Veldigun’s laughed at the comment. “Mine too, actually.” Alex stated. “Yours was probably attacked by a Veldigun.

The other Veldigun shrugged. “Most likely.” Before they could say anything else, the third Veldigun, the only one with asymmetrical eyes, walked right over to them. “Our creators just left.” They spoke softly. “Wanna go see if there are any others.” The other Veldiguns looked at each other before nodding. “Sure. We don’t see why not.”

Take Your Alex To Work

Day

Today was supposed to be a normal day for Alex. Spring was in the air and the other Veldiguns had woken up from their hibernation. Alex was just sitting outside on the porch, enjoying their last moments of peace and quiet for the year. They sat in their beloved rocking chair, listening to the birds. Unfortunately, those peace wouldn’t last long.

A loud thud and groan caught the Veldigun off guard. Ears swiveling to where the noise was, Alex hopped off the chair and ran to where the noise was. Branches tugged at their legs as they ran into the shrubbery. “I need to trim these plants,” Alex growled to themselves. Then, they heard some soft murmurs.

Alex froze in their place as they saw a weird looking creature stand up. She looked like an anthropomorphic displacer beast. Grey fur covered her muzzle and paw-like fingers. A tuff of grey fur puffed from the tip of her tail. Two tentacle heads were attached to her shoulders and they seemed to have a mind of their own. She wore torn up jeans and a black hoodie with red sleeves and a red hood. Plush devil horns were also on the hood.

Alex had no idea what to do. This was clearly not a Veldigun, but they have never seen a displacer beast before. The strange creature looked at them before shaking her head. “Ah! Just the person who I wanted to see!” Alex took a few steps back. “Wha-What do you mean?” The creature tilted their head before smiling, showing sharp, silver teeth. “Oh where are my manners? I’m Silver! Silver Tooth.”

This only confused the poor Veldigun even more. “I’m…Alex. I don’t mean to be rude, but what are you doing here?” Silver’s ears slicked back. “I’m here to take you to work with me.” Alex furrowed their brows. “Work? I’m an artist for my partner’s novels.” The displacer beast chuckled. “I mean my work. All the creators have an office we go to. This is actually my first day. It’s also “Take your Veldigun Alex to work day.”

Alex couldn’t help but gasp softly. “Does that mean…you made me?” Silver nodded. “Try not to take it all in. Just try to relax.” Breathing became difficult for Alex as they tried to speak. “Relax? How am I supposed to relax?! I don’t even know if I’m real!” Silver waved her large paws. “You are real, buddy! Just come with me. There are others just like you.” Alex looked up at her. “Just like me?” Silver nodded. “Yeah! Just take my paw and this will be over with soon.”

Not wanting to argue anymore, Alex gently took the displacer beast’s paw. Then, they were suddenly at a strange office building in the middle of nowhere. A strong sense of nausea resting in both of their stomachs. “Please…tell me there’s water here.” Alex huffed weakly. “Don’t worry, bud. There is.” Let’s just go inside.” The two of them sheepishly walked into the building prepared to face whatever may greet them.

It is your turn to write a segment on this story! Have fun!

CAT-DRAGON IT IS!

Lemme ask y’all…

Do you think my Veldigun Alex is a cat-bat or cat-dragon?

Winfrey says: “Even though they have horns, which is very common amongst Veldigun, I believe they are a cat-bat. Main reason being their nighttime asthmatic.”

Clyde says: “Cat-dragon. No doubt about it. They have the wings, horns, sharp toothed mouth, and they are also a DND nerd.”

You can give your reasoning in the comments or a reblog!

Oh god…It’s chaotic.

Gotta make a Drabble about that
