Just think about it. For the longest time, hands always meant pain, death, and sadness to Rei. He was hit and beaten as a child by his father. His fathers hands illicited pain in Rei. Rei himself used his hands to kill people, to take lives, and destroy families. In every facet in his life, hands always brought sadness.

But now! What a shock it must have been to him to discover that hands are actually warm. With the right people (and he found the right people) hands are loving and inviting and caring, and holding onto them is everything he wants in his life. He was never given that warmth until now, until this family. Kazuki and Miri's hands are what bring him such warm emotions and sensations.

He would never want to go back to a life where all hands meant is pain.
