To aid in this, people making the pilgrimage will wear wooden blocks on their hands and (often leather) aprons over their clothes, which they will change or mend when the items get worn out. don't show weakness, dont act like you're doing something wrong, don't respond to bait, don't argue in public, and don't make defending yourself your only identity. just do what you want to do and block anyone that has a problem with it. you know your own heart.

but if you mean just making regular art you'll probably be fine just doing whatever because people only pick on targets they think are worth bothering with. if you're only just starting out, you're not.
