You never wanted to hurt him. You didn’t even think about it before you kissed him. It was all impulse and heavy desire. You didn’t feel your body leaning into him until it was too late. It wasn’t the first time you kissed Jimin. It happened before. Twice. And both times, the only thing you ever felt for him was friendship. But this time was different. You knew it the minute his lips touched yours that this kiss would change things. 

“I’m so happy you’re back home,” your mom says, sweeping you up in a bone-crushing hug. You’ve barely made it through the door, and she’s hugging you just a little too tight, but you sigh and lean into the touch anyways.

“I’m happy I’m back, too.” You say. And you mean it. 

It was the first time you visited home preceding the months you moved away for college, and though you only moved five hours away, you still got homesick from time to time. It felt good to be around a comforting and familiar place, even if it was only for an extended weekend. 

When she pulled away, you dropped the bag you packed for the weekend and headed straight for the kitchen. “I’m starving.”

“I’m making dinner in a little bit, will you be around? Or do you have plans to go hang out with your friends?”

You almost laugh. “Nope, no plans.” You stopped talking to just about everyone after graduating. You didn’t think there was anyone in town who would actually want to meet up with you. Everyone moved one to the new lives in university. You didn’t leave any connections behind. At least, not any surviving ones. By the time you got in, it was late afternoon. You were still tired from the drive back. The only plans you had were to raid your parent’s fridge and conk out on your bed while Netflix played in the background.

“Good, because I already invited Jimin over. He should be here in a few minutes.”

“What?” You said, balking at the news. “Why would you do that?” Suddenly you lost your appetite. Instead, you felt sick to your stomach.

“Why not? You haven’t seen each other in forever, and he just got back yesterday, I thought it’d be nice.”
