This was a lot of fun. Sorry the backround is a bit sloppy. I need to practice on backrounds. But I hope you like it @skywarriorupham! Thanks for the request!

Your Mapleshade Au got me thinking, who would she have stolen the kittens from? And it gave me this idea. So, Maple did get pregnant with Appledusk's kits, whoever to ensure privacy and being a bit too paranoid about Ravenwing, she goes to birth them alone in the forest and sadly none of the kits survive the process; she stays isolated away from territory for a while due to severe grief . At around a similar period of time, Birchface had been sneaking around with kittypets for a while and Oakstar was struggling to keep it hidden to save face and reputation. When Birchface dies, months later the heavily pregnant kittypet comes across the injured fucked up Mapleshade and she manipulates her into giving her the kittens since the twolegs would "take them from her anyways". So when Mapleshade rolls up to camp with three newborn kittens who do look like birchface, all messed up and unkept, everyone easily believes those are in fact her kits and she had such a harsh birth, and Oakstar is even more willing to accept it since it saves him the trouble of having to salvage his dead son reputation. Eventually the book happens the same, with something tipping off ravenwing about the kittens and them getting exiled, etc etc. I think the real kicker would be Mapleshade snapping out of her delusion and only remembering all of this as she's dying, since not only would it recontextualize everything that's just happened, but it also makes the reader realize the hypocrisy that had Oakstar realized those kits truly were his grandchildren he probably wouldn't have exiled them.
Oooh, interesting! I like the soap opera vibes with it. You could probably connect it to the barn cats that she stays with (myler x birchface anyone.....). Her stealing kittens from a cat outside the clans could add to the themes of the Clan's xenophobia and how the harm it causes trickles down to everyone them.
Get to Know Your Character
Here are some questions to consider for character development:
What parts of their childhood trigger them?
How do they treat themselves when they're feeling sad?
What parts of themselves do they tend to hide?
How do they punish themselves when they make mistakes?
Who are they loyal to? Why?
Who do they avoid? Why?
What emotions or situations do they try to avoid? Why?
What angers them?
What are their insecurities?
What are their emotional triggers?
How do they feel about love?
What are their fears?
What is their relationship with their family like?
What kind of people do they tend to gravitate towards?
What do they like/dislike about themselves?
Happy writing ❤
