Bill used to have a family.
And now we know what happened to them.
He killed them.
fiddauthor as a ship hits me so fucking deep because like.. fiddleford was what ford needed at that point. every point where bill hurts or manipulates ford fiddleford does the exact opposite. fiddleford was the one wrench in bills plans for so long. like.
bill isolates ford with his strangeness. fiddleford helps him adapt.
bill has no respect of his autonomy. fiddleford, given many chances, never tries to force him into things, only asks him to do things.
bill leaves ford alone for months, to make him desperate. fiddleford is always by his side, even when hes taken for granted.
bill wants ford to put himself in harms away, he wont protect him. fiddleford is so worried about him forever and he will protect him.
and, the best part? it doesnt save them. fiddleford doesnt pull him out of the hole. despite the fact he was his only protection, fiddleford couldnt save ford. he cant offer help when ford wont tell him whats wrong. it doesnt save them. but the love was there. it didnt change anything, didnt save anyone.
but it matters the love was there.

Something I just thought of while pondering the video - Ford doesn't even react to the Mabel drawings he's doing that excellent propwork with in front of the agents, and given how delightedly he reacts to simply *having* a niece and nephew I can't imagine that his first reaction to these masterpieces was stony calm. Which means that at some point in betwixt scenes Ford saw those drawings for the first time (presumably shown to him by a very excited Mabel) and WE DID NOT GET TO SEE HIM EITHER WEEP TEARS OF JOY OR DESPERATELY FIGHT TEARS OF JOY BACK, and this is a terrible crime.
