Solas was soaked through when he pressed the apartment buzzer.  He waited patiently for an answer and cast a muted fire spell to warm him when his shoulders suddenly shivered involuntarily.  He should have trusted his nose and brought an umbrella.

He waited at least three minutes before he pressed the button again.  This time, a voice answered him with a teasing, drawn out, “yeeees?” full of sunlight and warmth.

Solas smiled sadly as he heard the front door unlock.  Instead, he pressed the button again to talk.  "I apologize, Dorian, but I must cancel our plans.  I–“

"You walked all the way here in the pouring rain to tell me that you’re canceling on me?” Dorian asked.  He sounded like he thought Solas was playing a particularly good joke on him.

“Well, I am hardly in a state to go out, and the alienage doesn’t allow personal calls,” Solas told him.

“You’re not joking,” Dorian suddenly said.  The warmth bled from his voice to leave only disappointment behind.
